That’s not what you said earlier, Angelo thinks to himself, as the older man dangles the carrot in front of his nose. Although, in the dark and with a stranger, he’s unsure whether he’s getting his leg pulled or if there is some kind of secret double intention to the other man’s presence in the cave.

“True,” he drawls out at red, head tilting to the side in thought, feeling the slight flicker of temptation to pull and challenge at the argument being thrown his way. Harmlessly, of course because he did have a point. “But I don’t think a wild Caterpie has access to a personal trainer down here.” Angelo’s lips quirk up in his own sly smile. “Though not to bash on the Caterpie. Personally, I love to see the little guys rise to the challenge.”

He watches as the man demonstrates his point, brightening up their part of the cave with a solar beam towards a Gastrodon, making quick work of the sea slug and urging a bleary looking Larvitar out of its burrow, too. Angelo urges Cassi to point her attention to the green lizard, the Nidorina bounding forward to deliver another double kick and her trainer to throw another capsule. “So, you’re here to train and impart words of wisdom, huh?”

he turns to face the other guy when he sees him busy with the larvitar. meanwhile, auburn eyes trail for another prey in sight. he hoots for altaria to follow up his attack into the steel-type, a concentrated effort of heat wave washes its gears before giving valerio the opportunity to capture it.[break][break]

“besides, i don't think someone can find a caterpie in this tunnel,” he cheekily snickers.[break][break]

“I’m starting to think that you don’t actually know what you’re down here for,” Angelo laughs as he catches the pokeball that contains his newly acquired Larvitar, casually tossing it back and forth between his palms as he contemplates the battling in front of him, wondering if this guy would be interested in a battle. He could do with a little excitement, along with maybe a wager to make his wallet feel not so empty; maybe he’d ask him later. First… “You don’t need to be embarrassed; you can admit it if you’re lost.” He smirks because, in this linear tunnel, nobody would admit it even if they were.

valerio turns his back at the trainer and sees the rhyhorn walking past them with heavy, careful steps. he flicks his fingers for altaria to do his breaking swipe. he proceeds to throw the ball afterwards.[break][break]

picking up the ball, he faces back the other guy and points at him with the newly-captured pokemon. “maybe i would tell you after you tell me what's inside that parcel?” he sticks his tongue playfully as if a child ready to take back his stolen candy.[break][break]

Internally a guard shoots up, his blue eyes taking on a sharper hue, as he retained the smile on his face. The man had said it easily enough, playfully harmless even, but there was a vibe shivering through the air that made Angelo wary, something in his gut rumbling with cautious fire. “Actually got no clue myself,” he half lied. “Delivery. Boss’ll be pretty mad if I took a peek.” Thankfully, thanks to years of playing it cool in babysitting, he was used to putting on a calm façade.

Speaking of nosy strangers… Angelo looks over his shoulder to see a fuzzy Meowth peering by the back wheel of his bike, a curious paw rising to flick at the string with a toothy grin. He tosses a pokeball, it’s wild smile instantly reminding him of skyler dross that he can't not catch it just to show her. He should probably get going, he thought, forgetting about his earlier battle thought.

“ah, mystery boxes.” valerio gives a meaningful grin as he spuns the altaria to target the passing magneton. the exchange of flame heat wave and flash cannon explodes in the area, causing a few rocks to tumble down on them.[break][break]

the rocket is quick to catch the wild steel-type with one of his spare balls before rolling away from the falling boulders. he pushes angelo vestri out of the way, hoping to save the man from the commotion but unaware if his parcel can be saved.[break][break]

It all goes by pretty quickly. One moment there’s an attack being thrown, another following, then some of the rockface begins to crumble. Angelo pushes his bike into motion however the stranger is faster, leaping forward before he can wheel away and pushing him out of range of a fragment of stone. His bike clatters to the ground this time, unable to save it from the collision; the side of the box getting squished at the corners.

Angelo bites the inside of his cheek, irritation flaring, as he tries to snuff out a flare from rising in his chest. “It’s... fine,” he breathes out with a carefully controlled smile, picking up his bike and inspecting the parcel again, noting the dent with his lips pressed into a firm line. It probably was okay - hopefully - but he wasn’t going to get a good reception when he presented damaged property to the client. Fuck.

“Thanks for that.” He said, secretly only partly grateful deep down, as he jumps back on the bike and regards the redhead one last time. It was probably time to push off. Sooner he delivered the package the sooner he’d get over the inevitable shitstorm. “I should head off now. Time’s ticking and all that. Have a good training-or-not-training session, 'kay?”

it is not fine, his sharp eyes catching the dent produced on the parcel after charizard's clash with the magneton. “but it sure pissess you off, eh?”[break][break]

he watches as the man leaps on his bike, but his attention is captured by the golem that is now clashing with the charizard. with another burst of heat wave, the stone pokemon succumbs, being able to capture.[break][break]

the man is already wheeling away before he shouts in respose. “if we see each other again, i'll make sure to pay you back for that!”[break][break]
