"Careful there Arian. You almost bowled me clean over! What's got you in such a rush?"" laughed Zac, patting some dust off of his friend's casual clothes. Zac himself was wearing a dripping wetsuit, and was accompanied by Devin, his cameraman. "Devin here has been telling me about some big old snake causing a fuss around the city. Apparently it's all over Chatter."  

As he said talked, Devin's phone pinged with another message, and the cameraman tapped Zac's shoulder, looking worried. "Zac, we've really ought to get going. People are going wild. It's really causing quite a panic." 
"Right you are Dev. Well Arian, it was nice running into you," Zac said with a smile, "but we've gotta vamoose-" He slapped himself in the head, looking shocked. "What am I saying? You're the bloody Gym Leader here aren't you? You're probably all over this sneaky serpent's sinister situation. Mind if we tag along?"

Devin pulled out the camera, already adjusting settings to account for the bright architecture of Sootopolis, as the pair of them took up position behind Arian. "I've been wanting to do a bit of an piece on Gym Leader's anyway! I'd planned something more like an interview, but a 'Day In The Life' story is always popular..." The adjustments finished, Devin pointed the camera at Arian, and started filming, the telltale red light blinking.

"Well what are you waiting for buddy? Let's get that snake!"

IN THE STREETS OF MOSSDEEP, a renegade serperior has literally snaked around the streets, leaving sharp leaves in its wake as it steals produce, terrorizes civilians and more.[break][break]

Zac and Devin ran through the streets of Sootopolis, following Arian’s lead. “Stay on his right.” Zac whispered to Devin, “that’s his good side.”
Devin nodded, switching sides. The last thing they wanted to do was to make their subject look bad.

“Howzit goin Rippas? Coming at ya’ with a very special, BREAKING, Zac’s Snap Catch, featuring my mate Arian!” Zac said, turning back to the camera as they made their way to the attack site. “Say hi to the folks at home Arian!- Oh, he’s a bit busy now. Maybe later. For now, we’re on the trail of some unnamed slitherer that’s stirring up a storm in the city of Sootopolis.”

The group crested one of the city’s terraces, coming face to face with the damage the creature had wrought. “A LEAF STORM that is!” Zac said, taking in the scene. Whatever was causing the damage had ripped apart half a street of the previously pristing domed dwellings with a flurry of razor sharp leaves, which had sliced through the brick and mortar like as much warm butter.

A slender, green head poked from one of the holes in the masonry. The pokemon wore a smug, imperious expression, and red eyes that shone like blood spilled from thorned vine. It’s pale body seemed to glow in the bright sunlight. “And there’s the villain of the piece.” Zac announced, turning to the camera. “A stunning serpentine specimen, this particular SERPERIOR looks-” he was interrupted by a burst of slicing leaves, and a shout from Arian as he sent out his GENGAR and launched a SHADOW BALL at the hissing villain. “Get down!” Devin shouted, and Zac hit the deck as Gengar’s shadow ball detonated, rocking the area with a blast of dark light. “Maybe we should fall back a bit! We’re right in the thick of it here.” said Devin, as the battle continued behind them.
“Right?” Zac said, grinning. “Isn’t it fantastic? We’re not gonna miss a move like this.”

SERPERIOR crashed into the buildings in confusion, bringing down an already damaged wall. With a flash of green light it tore up through the rubble, still not in full control of its movements. "Whoa! Now that's the real danger when a pokemon is confused. Not only can it hurt itself in confusion, but it can cause real damage to everything around it." Zac said into the camera. "but this is no time to be sitting around and watching."

"Arian's a seasoned battler, and this little wriggler doesn't stand a chance in an all out battle, but when it comes to bringing a rampaging pokemon under control, in a populous, urban area like this it pays to have all hands on deck is something goes sideways...like that house!" Devin focussed in on one of the damaged houses as it collapsed, slumping sideways into another dwelling. 
"Go! Zappa!" 
The HELIOLISK emerged behind a broken wall, ducking away from the hail of razor sharp leaves. "Okay buddy, i'm gonna need you to get in close and paralyze that snake before it does much more damage. In and out, got it?"
Zappa nodded, and let out a resolute chirp. 

Zappa shot off towards the SERPERIOR, sticking close to the ground and scuttling away from the random blasts of slicing leaves. "That's the way mate. Now! Use THUNDER WAVE!" 
The electric lizard opened its frill, drawing on the bright sunlight to charge its cell for a split second, before blasting the thrashing snake with a wash of wriggling static. Serperior's muscles siezed up, and its contorted, crooked body slammed to the ground, paralyzed. Heliolisk swiftly retreated, ducking behind one of the nearby houses. "Legendary effort Zappa! And not a scratch on you!" 

"Now lets see what Arian does, now that the menace is a bit more contained. It's pretty common for public figures to make a little speech before they defeat or capture a foe."

Devin swivelled to point at Arian, tightening the focus on the camera as he and Zac moved in closer, ready approach SERPERIOR.

Zac emerged from behidn the rubble and approached Arian, whose Gengar was now feeding on the Serperior.

"What a battle 'ay?" Good thing we shut 'im down before anything bad happened." Zac said. He looked around at the partially destroyed neighbourhood. "Well, before anything got worse."
Nearby, a house collapsed, sending out a low cloud of brick smoke. "...how about we wrap this up then."

Arian offered Zac the catch, and after a polite back and forth, Zac accepted the trophy. Devin tossed him a pokeball, and, after Arian called off his Gengar, Zac gently caught the struggling Serperior. "It's okay buddy. Lets get you somewhere a little greener, eh?"

"Now Arian, today has been an absolute blast." Zac said, talking half to the camera. "And I would love to pick your brain about what it's like running a gym if you ever have time. How about an interview, if you're not too busy?"

Zac was surprised at how easy it was to pin down such a famous interview subject.
"Well in that case we have GOT to have it at the casino!" he said, grinning as Arian nodded away on the phone. Could it really be that easy? He's been trying to break into the interview game recently, moving up from pokemon to people, and this mission that he stumbled into may just be his ticket to the big leagues.

"Well it was fantastic running into you Arian." Zac said, grinning at the still busy gym leader. " And there you have it folks." He said, turning back to the camera. "Another successful outing and a new friendship forged. Tune in next time for a very special interview with Arian Coin, leader of the Sootopolis gym! See you later Feraligatr!"

"In a while Krookodile!" Answered Devin and Zappa.
