THE HOENN ADVENTOURS BRING YOUR PARTY to one of Lilycove's nearby islands. Off the coast, where the Megalopolans had drilled, an extensive cave system has been discovered. Entering this cave requires you to grapple down via rope, and once you alight on the damp ground, lights must be turned on. It's cold down here. As you all move deeper into the earth, a dead-end is met. Equipped with your EXPLORER KITS and Pokemon, this obstacle should be easily dealt with. The company has encouraged the most intrepid and capable of trainers to dig deeper with their Pokemon.[break][break][break]

Should you break down the walls, perhaps, you'll find treasures to take home for yourselves. In order to receive a treasure, you must fully reveal it by breaking all the tiles they are contained in; however, you can only break down 3 tiles per floor. So, choose which tiles to break wisely![break][break][break]

If a tile says requests for a type, all moves used must be of that type unless otherwise specified. If a tile asks for a particular power value, you must hit that value exactly (e.g. total 260 - all of your moves added together, must total 260 power).[break][break][break]

“Hello everyone, and thank you for coming,” the young, willowy girl said. She stood at the entrance to the Lilycove excavation site, a pair of scissors in one hand and a length of ribbon dangling from the other.

She was the last person qualified to be giving an opening speech, but she’d taken it upon herself to add a little ceremony to this historic endeavor. “I’d like to, of course, thank everyone participating. Misters Soup, Billi and Shimizu - this could never have come to fruition without your cooperation.” Her eyes gleamed, hiding some secret mischief. “I’d also like to thank our marvelous sponsor, the AdvenTours! What a blessing, truly, to be given this opportunity.”

She pretended to curtesy, then straightened up again. A hundred feet behind her or so was a yellow-eyed Claydol, levitating mutely in front of a sheer rock wall. Chryssa snapped her fingers, then smiled brightly at her companions.

“If I may have the honor: I’d like to set this marvelous excavation off with a bang.”

She snipped the ribbon. The Claydol detonated behind her.

The gucci gang was all together for once! Mainly like one person he didn’t really know but they seemed sweet enough, so entering these drilled caverns made him feel comfortable enough. “okay okay okay that was big,” Billi thought to himself as the explosion echoed in the tight walls, “We don’t wanna die down here!” he called out moving his Galvantula out of it’s pokeball, “Maybe we just buzz around some, cuz sound is strong ya know,” but that was also stupid but hey.

He joined the dig site at Lilycove, hoping to uncover what the Megalopolans were possibly digging for. Soup's feet touched the ground and he looked around at his company, and his face lit up when he say a familiar face.

"Billi Marsh !" He tried to smile, but was reminded of how he'd been absent from the war, as the citizens of Hoenn, including Billi, fought for their lives and their homes. The smile died on his face.

"...Good to see you're okay," he said instead.

Then, some girl began to make a speech, and Soup narrowed his eyes. It almost seemed like this girl was teasing them, somehow--

The girl's stupid pun, combined with the Claydol, made alarm bells go off in Soup's head. Before he could open his mouth, the Claydol detonated.

Soup screamed and held his arms out in front of his face. What the hell?

"Hey, um," he began, miffed but not willing to start a rivalry or something. "Could you be a bit more careful with moves like that? We don't want to destroy something that we might find."

His Pokeball flashed and revealed Deimos, the Heracross using Megahorn, but with precision and care. Thank god.

Exploration wasn’t exactly Haruka’s forte, but he’d decided to give it a try in wake of the horrors the war had brought the region. With his Dragonair at one side, and his Milotic at the other, he pretended to listen to the girl’s speech but was honestly just hoping they could get started on this exploration. The explosion of her Claydol had him raising an eyebrow, but the Heracross using megahorn on the rock wall was a welcome sight. Honestly, this whole thing couldn’t have been more ridiculous had there been an actual script to follow. Fiddling with the katana at his side, he waited for the dust to clear before making his own move on the damaged wall.

“Use Hyper Beam!” He said, the long and serpentine dragon Pokémon beside him charging up the beam for a minute before firing the powerful move at the wall to hopefully take it down combined with the attacks of the others. Fingers crossed, he watched as the dust flew and obscured the hopefully destroyed wall from sight. Had they done it? Or would they need another round of attacks to break it?

Using a Hyper beam (150) on the any type (610) tile.

When the dust finally settled and the hole had been revealed, the treasures that had come with it had even Haru widening his eyes and hurrying to divide them up among the group. However, there was still plenty more area to explore, and as Haru approached the wall once again he noticed something sticking out of the wall near where their initial attacks had been. “Hey guys, there’s some fossils sticking out of the wall here, let’s try to get them out!” He called, pulling out a Pokeball to release one of his newer team members, an Araquanid.

“Use bug bite on that wall! Try to get the things sticking out broken out a bit, okay? Don’t destroy them though, they could be valuable to us.” Haru asked of the large water spider, who turned around to do as he asked and went for the wall. Meanwhile, Haru stepped back a considerable amount to give their Pokémon room to work. No sense getting in the way and getting hurt, right? That wouldn’t exactly benefit any of them, least of all Haru. He couldn’t afford to get injured, not right now.

Using bug bite (60) on the bug type (300) tile. 60/300 total.

It probably was a good idea to be careful with hugely concussive moves from now on, but the results had been magnificent!

“My my, a relic crown! And I had no idea we were royalty,” Chryssa said, turning the ancient item in her hands. Blowing the dust off the ancient, priceless artifact, the girl proceeded to put it on her head. It was heavier than she expected, but she expected to be wreathed in the spoils of victory by the end of this excavation.

Still smiling to herself, brushing the dust off her shoulder from subsequent bursts of rock and debris, Chryssa turned to look when Haruka noticed the items in the wall. ”That does look promising, doesn’t it?” The girl rummaged in one of her dress pockets for a moment before recalling her blackened Claydol back into its capsule, sending out a slender, bright-eyed Kricketune instead. “You’ve inspired me, Mr. Billi! I bow to your bug-type expertise,” she said.

Scissors still in one hand, she made a snip snip motion and pointed at the exposed wall. “Fury Cutter, Laina.” With a single claw, the bug-type deeply scored the rock beneath the fossil, trying to jog it loose.

Soup sighed at Chryssa taking the crown and putting it on her head. Well, at least it would be safe there from the girl's habits of wantonly exploding her Pokemon to destroy rock. Hopefully she'd also try to be more careful in the future.

Deimos stayed out, continuing to mine with his large horn. The bug-type joined in the enthusiastic others who were mining with bug-type moves, aiming to excavate something that was sticking out of the wall partly.

Soup smiled. He had an idea of what that was, and if he was right, he was eager to dig it out. There would be people who would love a fossil, whatever it was. He might even adopt it if the Pokemon revived was willing to accept him as a trainer. But maybe he was going too far ahead.

Billi's question was met with silence for a few moments, and Soup shrugged. "All right, I suppose," he said. "Excited for this, though. Who knows what we'll discover?"

Success! The fossil wasn't as wearable as her crown, but she was still looking forward to finding out what it was. Chryssa recalled her Kricketune, pocketing the capsule. "Isn't modern technology amazing?" she asked. She traced the top of the stone with a finger, feeling the smooth edges of an ancient shell. "They don't really bring them back to life, you know. It's more like cloning."

Zeroing in on Soup and Haruka as Billi crossed to the far wall to break the next item out of the wall, the girl smiled suddenly. "Wouldn't it be interesting to have a clone of yourself after you die? Just think... in a thousand years, someone who looks just like you could be walking around again. Breathing. Eating. Mining. Maybe you're even mining fossils of yourself." Not breaking eye contact, she counted on her fingers. "And when those clones die, the new clones mine them, and those dead clones mine them, and it goes on forever until the end of the world! Of course, you'll still be dead, so you'll never get to see it."

With that surprisingly blunt conclusion, Chryssa abruptly brought up her Pokeball and released her Gothorita, who pouted reluctantly at being summoned in such a dirty and horrible place. "Clear the rocks with Psybeam," she said casually, and the psychic-type narrowed her focus on the hole in the wall Billi had made. With a spiraling beam of mental energy, she drilled into the stones, aiming to widen the gap.

Soup stared, nonplussed, as Chryssa rattled off a litany of things that might happen if someone got cloned in the manner of a fossil.

This was why Soup generally tried not to revive fossils, honestly. The idea of tampering with the dead...

"My opinion on that would depend largely on whether it had my personality or not," admitted Soup, deciding to humor the girl as he brought out Athos. The Gallade examined their surroundings, and then lit up when he realized what they were doing. He'd always liked digging, and his blades glowed with psychic energy as he began to excavate carefully, helping Deimos.

"If they had my personality, it would be like part of me was living on in the future. Otherwise, though... not so much." He made a face. "Regardless, fossils are a great discovery scientifically. I'm excited to see what else we'll find."

J.J. glances around with an arched brow as he finally catches up with the group. ”What kind of a conversation did I come into?” he asks, somewhat bewildered by the girl’s topic of clones and death.

Looking at the ragtag group, J.J. slightly frowns as he intended to join on account of actually being part of a team, not as a replacement, but seeing as decisions have already been made, he shrugs his shoulders. Pulling out a pokeball, he calls out a Galarian Ponyta, pointing it over at the wall. ”Psychic.”

Hearing its trainer’s command, the Ponyta’s horn begins to glow momentarily before using the energy to push away the rock.
