After having sent the message to his friend, Thomas spent the time waiting preparing. He would take every bit of information he gathered, every report he could collect on the events of Mauville, and organize it. It was clear that he was not happy in the slightest with what happened that day. Though they managed to defeat the Megalopolan forces, it came at the cost of far too many lives. It came at the cost of Cycling Road. Though they could rebuild the damage done to the route, they couldn't bring back the lives lost.

But what made Thomas truly furious was the death of Philomera, and the disappearance of Jules Cotillard. The revelation that Jules was a Megalopolan was surprising. And no doubt, if he still lived, he would want to avenge the death of Philomera, his lover. In doing so, they lost a vital source of intel. And who knows what the party that took him had in store for the General. At the very least, the Meteor Falls team managed to secure their General alive, albeit wounded.

Once he had word that Selena was on her way, he would sit in the office he claimed as his personal quarters. He had everything he could've needed for the meeting, from the reports he gathered, to the alcohol that he no doubt needed to get through this mess, with plenty for Selena, should she be accept.

When Selena did arrive at the Estate, Eleanor would be the one to answer the door. "Miss Desmarias, please, come inside. We've been expecting you.", the woman, in her early thirties, would greet the pink-haired woman warmly.

the desmarais and the benoit of kalos go back a long way. being members of the richest families in the region, selena spent part of her childhood playing with the benoit siblings Thomas Benoit and Andrea Benoit. for a time, they have shared dreams and hopes together until they fell apart.[break][break]

only to see each other once more: in a different life, in a different time, in a different place.[break][break]

she assures the lady before leaping into the corridors of the mansion. almost every corner does so much to remind her what it feels like to be back home. the estate is huge, sure, but her intuition leads her every step closer to her purpose of visit. perhaps, it is the power that tapu koko has bestowed her.[break][break]

Eleanor smiled as Selena greeted her warmly. She would hug the younger woman, happy to see her old friend. As Selena told her not to be so formal, the older woman would chuckle. "Very well, Selena. Shall I show to to Thomas' quarters?", she would ask her. When given her answer, she would nod. "Very well. Enjoy your visit.", she would tell the pink-haired woman, before going to tend to the other business around the estate.

As Selena would go through the corridors of the estate, she would notice a portrait hanging along one of the walls. The male in the portrait was a familiar one, Pierre Benoit, Thomas' grandfather, when he was their age. But rather than being accompanied by Josephine Benoit, his current wife, he was instead accompanied by a sickly, yet happy looking Hoennian woman. This was Natsumi Benoit, his first wife, and the biological grandmother of Andrea, Thomas, and their little sister.

As Thomas heard the knocking, his head would crane up towards the door. When he heard the familiar voice of his old friend, he would smile. He would quickly rise from his seat, and open the door. "Selena, good to see you again!", he greeted her warmly. After everything that just transpired, her face was a welcome sight. "Please, come inside, make yourself at home.", he would tell her.

She would find that the office was well organized, though rather spartan in fashion. Aside from the necessary equipment he needed to do his work, he kept things barebones. That, aside from the bottles of alcohol, and the glasses he had at the ready. If she were to take a seat, she'd find that the chair, despite its looks, was rather comfortable, and of high quality.

"Can I offer you a drink, before we begin?", he'd inquire. She'd find that one of the bottles he had ready was of her favorite sort of liquor, still sealed.

selena gleams at the sight of tequila on thomas's worktable, her fingers casually finding their way into the glass and raising it onto the man's direction.[break][break]

she takes the pleasure of making herself home indeed as the sense of familiarity surges back to her. after their drifting apart in the kalos during their childhood, they have been involved again for another short period of time in unova and this reminds her of those days of chasing bad guys and playing heroes.[break][break]

“i imagine you have the agenda well-planned as usual, huh, thomthom?”[break][break]

she leans back on the chair before taking a sip from the liquor, her mind drifts away with scent of the alcohol. at first, she thinks nothing serious about the man's message to her the past couple of days. only this time, with the look on his eyes, does she foretell that something is defintely curious about thomas.[break][break]

The 'cyclops' would pour the pink-haired woman a full glass of the tequila. In turn, he'd pour himself a full glass of his Galarian Whiskey. He took a seat on the opposite side of the desk, in his own personal chair.

Thomas would hit a button on the desk, bringing up a digital map of the route between Slateport and Mauville. From what she could see, blips occupied the map, including one of the supply truck that they were initially tasked with delivering to Mauville. Otherwise, most of the blips represented the Megalopolan forces that occupied the area as they got there, with their own forces coming in from Slateport.

"I'm sure you've heard the reports of what went down in Mauville and Meteor Falls by now?", he'd inquire.

He'd be interrupted when the sight of a Delibird rushing into the courtyard outside caught his eye. Immediately, the red and white bird would be surrounded by young, excitable Pokemon. For the bird's part, it seemed to enjoy the attention from the young Pokemon. Thomas watched on for a moment, smiling, before snapping out of it, and turning back to Selena.

"Sorry about that.", he told her with a chuckle. "Now, did you have any questions about what you heard? Anything you'd like me to potentially clear up?", he'd ask her.

"Of course.", he tells her. "Though if it's what I think it is, I don't think there was much any of us could've done. I tried to catch Cotillard as he was falling, but all that ended up doing was allowing whoever spirited him off to make an easy grab.", he'd tell her, lamenting what went down. "I was hoping one of the others would catch him, but as my Alakazam got him into a Telekinetic hold, and began to slow his descent, someone managed to form a blanket of Haze, before grabbing him under it. From what I saw in the aftermath, it looked like a Steelix was what made the grab.", he'd tell her.

"I don't know if the Megalopolan Generals had friends in the shadows, or if a third party managed to grab them, but this whole thing is ugly.", he'd confess to her. "And as far as what I heard about Lilycove, you had to contend with an angry Kyogre, so whoever it was that grabbed your General did so under the blanket of the chaos caused by the rampaging Kyogre.", he'd tell her. "Either way, I have a bad feeling about all this, and I'm hoping that the General we retrieved in Meteor Falls can shed some light on all this.", he'd continue.

Thomas would take a swig of his Galarian whiskey, straight out of his flask. The strong liquor managed to help him calm down a bit.

“I think the Megalopolans having friends is already out of the question.”

Needless to say, if they have assistance from another party during the climax of the war, the events of the invasion could have a possible overturn with Hoenn's League on the losing side. Besides, what is more likely is the fact that there are still shady characters in the region who, for sure, has interests with the alien invaders. Those who captured the Slateport's blacephalon from last year's new year, for one.

“Care to share your theories? I love to hear when you speculate.” She humors Thomas Benoit as she downs once more from her glass of tequila.

“Cause I also have something about this as well that I want to tell you.”

And considering that they were piping in a giant Xurkitree right under New Mauville in preparation for this, I wouldn't doubt that they had some help beforehand. Certainly, the Aether Foundation is worth looking into.", he'd tell her.

"I'll be honest with you, I don't think Team Rocket died with Silas.", he'd begin. "As you know, Silas died during his attempt to grab Verdanturf and Fallabor. Silas personally oversaw the battle of Verdanturf, only to be stopped by the combined forces of Lopez, Silph, and his sister. As for Fallabor, from what I read on it, our forces seemed eerily prepared for what was coming, and took them on far too easily.", he'd continue. "And between both towns, Silas' death aside, Rocket's top brass at the time was nowhere to be found, all of them floating in the wind. Dorian Westcliff, the Mad Dog, did have to fight his way out of Verdanturf, going through Anderson in the process. But what about the others, especially those tasked with overseeing Fallabor?", he'd ask her.

"In short, I think someone made a power grab in Rocket, and ousted Silas in the process. That, or got a better offer from another party. But either way, someone filled in the vacuum left by Silas' death, whether it was this new management, or another organization we don't know about. Someone stole the Guzzlord sample we got from Mossdeep, and I doubt it was that scientist the League insisted on accusing of doing so. "What do you make of all this? And what would you like to share with me?", he'd ask her, letting her have his turn, as he took another swig of his whiskey.
