"We probably don't need a camera with this one Dev," Zac said. He was standing just out of the waist high grass, lookout out over the open park. There was no snow to glaze the sparse trees, but frost lingered in the hard packed ground. Zac stamped, stretched, and rubbed his arms vigorously. He pulled his second jacket tight around him.
"You sure Zac? Everything I've read about sports training says that recording and watching yourself is the best way to improve form. That and having a second set of critical eyes, that is," Devin said. He had ignored Zac's recommendation and was fixing the settings on the camera.
Zac rubbed his shoulder, rotating it so he didn't damage anything. After a few minutes of stretching he picked a weighted training ball out of his bag. The 'Weightball' was a cool ten times heavier than a regular ball, and Zac had been using it for strength training. He did a few practice throws, each time nodding at how far the ball had gone before walking over the collect it. "I really need to get a Pokemon that likes fetch."

Zac's throwing arm was warmed up, and Devin was rolling. it was time to catch some Pokemon. Devin sent Charmeleon into the tall grass, and the helpful dragon sent the Safari inhabitants scattering out into the open.
Zac took aim, and with a major-league pitch he sent his first safari ball of the day rocketing towards one of the fleeing 'mon.
It missed, but the force of the throw caused the balled to ricochet off the ground and bounce into the legs of an escaping Chimchar, knocking the pokemon to the ground before sucking it into the ball in a stream of red light.

"That's one!" Zac called, as he caught the Chimchar. He dislodged the second of his safari balls from the rubber packaging and signalled to the Davin's Charmeleon. "Okay I'm ready," he called. "Send in the next one."
Charmeleon stormed the grass a second time, roaring with glee as he flushed out Zac's next target: a plump rodent with tear-shaped ears and a tail like a frayed electrical cable. From its bright yellow fur Zac judged it an electric type, and any doubts on the matter were allayed when it let out a cry of <Dedeeee!> and crackled across the open grassland in a rush of lightning. "And this'll be number two!" Zac called, as he hurled the ball at the escaping Dedenne. For all his reluctance earlier he sure hoped Devin was watching.

"Two balls left. Okay Charmeleon, flush out another one. I'm ready." The little dragon gave an answering roar from the tall grass, and stormed through the foliage.
Zac wasn't ready.
A deci-ton of beef came storming towards the cocky ranger, catching him on the horns and tossing him carelessly. <TAUUUUUUUUUUR!!> roared the bull, as it turned to take another pass at Zac. "Holy shit," Zac coughed from his spot in the dirt. "Boshi! Little help here buddy?" he wheezed, and the Turtonator came dutifully stomping over from where Devin was paralyzed with laughter. Tauros snorted and lowered his head, sizing up the turtle. Guess I'm not the only overconfident one. Zac thought, propping himself up on one elbow. Turtonator's shell hissed with steam, and Tauros bellowed it attacked.
There was an explosion of heat, and Zac got to his feet, taking his time catching the thoroughly seared opponent.

"Just one left," Zac said, looking around the grassland. Thick patches of seasoning foliage swept the landscape in autumn strokes, and Zac almost missed the curved neck of the camouflaged dragon peek out over the grass.
"Whoa! Check out that beauty!" he said, grinning at the creature. It was all pale fur, serpentine curved, and glittering butterscotch skin. Zac was entranced, and as he inched closer, ball in hand, it saw him. The dragon's dark brows rose in surprise, and it ducked back into the grass. Zac sprinted after it, battering the stalks away as he gave chase.
His quarry was large and slow, but it blended perfectly with the surroundings. The idea of such an obtrusive ambush predator made Zac smile. He stopped, listening. Silence.
SWISH SWISH SWISH
Zac threw himself at the noise. His arms closed around a long, arching neck, and he pressed the Pokeball against the dragon's hide.
It disappeared inside, and Zac rolled away in case it burst back out. He breathed hard, arms covering his head. The grass swayed, falling back into place around the Pokeball.
And it clicked.
