It was time for a new battle, a new challenger! Some people wanted to battle, other’s wanted something a little different! Now Billi, he was more of aman that would run around and have fun, battles concerned him, but as the leavany brought him the file, he threw it to the side and stretched. His fashions, his dewpider rainy day clothes, because it was raining and with holes in the roof the gym, was wet. So yeah.[break][break]

“Hello!” he waved the person down, “So a battle right?! You get to pick the three pokemon you’ll be battling, and to make it fair you can pick the same stages as your own pokemon.”

The Petalburg Gym had an odd set of rules, one of which stated that trainers were able to pick the pokemon they were up against. This had intrigued Lulu. While she no longer had a strong desire for badges, battles were a necessary part of learning about the powers of pokemon. There was nothing like a good adrenaline rush to bring it out.

Before she’d even signed up, Lulu had taken to the internet to scour videos and reviews of his battles. She learned what she could about the pokemon he had historically used publicly, and went in knowing what she wanted. She would take a diverse trio of some of her strongest pokemon: Golisopod, who had been with her since nearly the beginning of her journey in Hoenn; Cillian Quinn ’s gifted Blaziken—a war vet, and a Haxorus who had become a recent addition since her return and since proved its might in missions.

A Solrock loomed over her shoulder as she entered the gym and looked up and around with an absorbent amber gaze. Her chin turned in the direction of Gym Leader Billi Marsh as he entered. “Yes! Hi, Billi. Good to meet you.” She held out a hand for him to shake and gave a practiced smile. “Nicole.”

After looking through a selection, she refined her previous ideas. “Galvantula, Araquanid, and… Heracross.” Her eyes flicked towards him again from behind her glasses. “I’ll be using a Blaziken, Golisopod, and Haxorus.”

“Nice to meet you Lulu” he mentioned politely before shaking her hand, lightly because of the injury to his hand. Though, as the women picked the pokemon, Billi flagged them down, bringing in the group of pokemon, to the battle field. “Oh….sooo you picked the spiders! Just be careful! It won’t be easy,” he mentioned and watched as the girl pulled her pokemon down. “Hint of advice, just winning a battle won’t give you the badge,” he stated, “you gotta impress me,” he called out as his pokemon stepped forward.[break][break]

The galvantula moved, spitting it’s electroweb everywhere, creating a maze of dangerous threads. The other two pokemon remained still between the threads, ready for the battle ahead.[break][break]

You are allowed to use any moves from the pokemons LEARN SET, plus whatever else you’ve given them.

Many Rockets used spiders. She didn’t have any, but there was an envious twinkle in her eye at the sight of them. They were incredibly useful, and very dangerous.

“I’m not looking for an easy fight. Where’s the fun in that?” Despite her competitive nature, she didn’t quite care if she won or if she lost. Lulu had managed to stifle that part of her personality with Solrock’s help. She was taking video, for research. A tiny robot bug peered out from her shoulder from underneath her jacket, the impossibly small camera within it ready to capture the event.

But, that didn’t mean they weren’t here to put up a strong fight. It also didn’t mean they wouldn’t try their damnedest.

Pokeballs released the three beasts to the field, their cries fearsome. “Work as a team! Blaziken, get up close! Golisopod, cover him!”

Her Blaziken targeted the Galvantula, and then, using its AGILITY paired with its SPEED BOOST ability, it was all but a blur as it made its way through the maze, attempting to reach the Galvantula unscathed and get within close-combat distance.

Golisopod fired the PIN MISSILE across the field, the homing missiles swirling around to miss its teammate and towards the same Galvantula ahead of it.

The Haxorus held back, using LASER FOCUS as it stared at the Heracross ominously from the other side of the field, unmoving.

The blonde sighed as the girl didn’t want an easy fight. Of course not, none of these trainers wanted something easy. Billi had gone through dozens, maybe hundreds since the new gym leader hype had started. Most that wanted a battle, lost, or won but didn’t receive his badge. Rather….the battle wasn’t fun. If you lose the sense of danger and whimsy in a battle, then there’s no point, it’s just survival. Dangerous survival, but if that’s what these people wanted in this spindle of threads then they’d get it.[break][break]

As the group navigated the threads like spies with lasers, Galvantula moved back, climbing on his threads to avoid any damage he’d get. “rain dance,” Billi ordered as the spider chachaed it’s way up the threads causing the rain to downpour around them. Naturally some of the missiles got tangled in the webs, a few dinged the spider.[break][break]

Though it took a moment for the araquanid to move with a powerful geyser of water at the blaziken, intending to SOAK it so the electro webs would prove mighty dangerous. Sure the two other pokemon stared down, though the heracross quickly aimed it’s hand at the dragon and fired off it’s pin missiles.[break][break]

The RAIN DANCE would improve water-type moves, which would only benefit them if Golisopod was able to get up close. “Golisopod, hold back. IRON DEFENSE.” It was all they could do before the cumbersome scorpion waded into the maze. One of his Pokemon seemed to be remaining held back as well, so at that moment, they were balanced. Until they weren’t.

Despite the speed at which Blaziken was moving, it could not avoid the infallible accuracy of the Aquanid’s attack. The water hit it, as well as the shock of the web. It stumbled out from it, taking a moment to recover. Luckily, Blaziken was one of her toughest Pokemon. It shook it off, retaliating shortly after with a MIRROR MOVE, surprisingly sending its own geyser of water right back the spider.

Lulu grinned, pleased with its decision. By that point, the Haxorus had charged its attack and sent a purple DRAGON PULSE at the horned bug across the field. “Haxorus, NOW.” It launched just before the dragon received the full impact of PIN MISSILES with a great roar.

Billi watched as the battle unfolded, glad that the rooster took damage from the webs, rain and water. He grinned feeling the battle's power, as the blaziken sent the water back at him, but...it was just a soak. Making it easy to take the damage from the mirror coat, even though it hurt like hell. Quickly though the Galvantula moved along the webs to suckerpunch the glossipod. While the araquanid released an infestation across the floor. Pinsir repeated the same action.

The giant scorpion stumbled back at the hit, letting out a metallic cry. Taking the opportunity, Blaziken sent a FLAME BURST at the spider from behind, not letting the hit against its own to go wasted. The two seemed to have worked as a team many times before. They danced together well. As the fire came in for impact, the Golisopod used DEFENSE CURL and rolled out of the literal line of fire.

Lulu watched curiously at the INFESTATION, adjusting something on her shirt.

The Haxorus required more command, as it was newer to the team than the others. It was still impressively well-disciplined. “Get after it too!” She called encouragingly. The third pokemon delivered another blow immediately after the Blaziken’s, another DRAGON PULSE.

The two had successfully taken out the Galvantula, sending a smile to Lulu’s face. It had been the one she had been most concerned about. “Blaziken, go high!” When the two pokemon came close quarters on either side, the pokemon leapt up into the air, hopefully leaving the two teammates to attack one another instead. Blaziken were known for their ability to leap multiple stories, and this one’s unlocked hidden ability made it remarkably quick. Of course, that was unnecessary here. A small hop over the two sufficed, remaining close to deliver its next assault.

Resistant to what remained of the electricity on the field, the Haxorus charged forward as Blaziken ejected itself, sending a GIGA IMPACT in the direction of the closest one.

The Golisopod held back, not wanting to injure its teammates in such close proximity with its target with its missiles. It used IRON DEFENSE a second time, gleaming on the sidelines for a moment ominously, waiting for its next opportunity.

The Araquanid qas quick enough to dodge the attack from it’s friend, though it was also quick enough to avoid the giga impact that would soon hit the heracross. Sending it also out of the area and knocking it out against the three. All that remained was araquanid, which both lunged and liquidation the blaziken. “Arrraaaa” it hissed trying to take out the largest predator.

The great hit, made more powerful by the pokemon’s RAIN DANCE, was enough to bring the Blaziken down. It collapsed to its knees, and Lulu held out a ball to return it in a zigzagging red light. She smirked. One down, but they were still ahead. When she gave the next command, she was nearly grinning. They were close. This was going much better than the battle with Selena Desmarais had. “Golisopod, stay back! Get it from behind!” The Haxorus looked amped up.

The Golisopod unleashed another PIN MISSILE attack from afar at the back of the Heracross, more confident with the decreased amount of targets and taking the risk of some light damage to its teammate, who careened towards the remaining opponent in an OUTRAGE.
