Once again, Stormy had been summoned to meet with Fernando. This time, the invitation was surrounding Moltres. [break][break]

Until now, the two had been virtually radio silent since their last interaction. He had chosen not to reach out at first, and she hadn't been interested in any sort of follow-up. [break][break]

And frankly, it wasn't surprising at all that the reason behind Fernando's request for her visit was because of Moltres. In fact, her only real concern was the legendary's condition following the blackout. [break][break]

It occurred to her only now that she hadn't really mentioned the full extent of Moltres' injuries to Fernando that night - or if she had, she hadn't discussed it further.[break][break]

The legendary's ball is attached to her hip and feels unbelievably warm to the touch upon entering the building. Stormy flags down the receptionist or whoever it is that could direct her to her meeting with Fernando, but this time there's no aggression or boldness to her request.[break][break]

This time, she isn't bulldozing down his office door demanding his full attention.[break][break]

Unlike the others that line the League with their own prerogatives, Hoenn's finest matches the afflictions Stormy had described. Her fear of sleep should have reflected in her insomnia, her need for comfort. Fernando wears her weakness on his face. Things have been busy lately but all in regards to his own personal agenda.

"Feeling better?"

Lips part but remain unbroken. Words are kept brief, quiet.

Surprise is written in bold across her face when she sees Fernando himself waiting for her. There is no waiting list, no pacing in a hallway or waiting to be called upon. Instead, she's directed right to him and he stands there, anticipating her arrival and appearing somewhat happy to see her - if one could note happiness from bags under ones eyes and a flat expression. But it isn't contempt she sees, and that surprises her.[break][break]

His quiet greeting does not go unanswered, but she does note the tiredness in his expression, the matching bags they both seem to wear, the weariness.[break][break]

Honesty had always proved more beneficial to their relationship from past experiences, and she sees no reason to lie now. Sleep still continues to elude her and nightmares still plague her dreams whenever she does attempt it. [break][break]

Fernando bites back an exhale as he thumbs over Stormy's condition. On one end, it shouldn't really concern him. Whatever trauma or mental incapacities she has, she has to get over herself. But, this is above her. An avatar of Moltres, or any Pokemon really, cannot be allowed to expire.

There cannot be another Senri.

"Mine's by choice." He turns on his heel, leading her deeper into the Gym, motion for her to follow with a wave of his hand. "I can turn it off."

This time he doesn't use the plain arena. The area he has set up is used for his own Pokemon. Knowing what he wants to see from her, their given a much bigger space to express the extent of their Legendary's prowess. However, from the eye of a spectator, it's nothing more than the 'big plain arena'.

"You need to be able to as well."

His teeth click together in his signature scoff, and instinctively, her attention is drawn to the crease in his cheek and the thin line of his lips.[break][break]

But she quickly averts her gaze, forcing herself to look anywhere else. It helps that he turns around and his voice carries over his shoulder. The break in eye contact helps her to catch her breath.[break][break]

He waves his hand and she follows, keeping space between them. Idly, she glances around at the scenery, but it's all a blur until they reach their destination.[break][break]

He leaves her with that before taking up the Gym Leader's side of the field. A MISTY TERRAIN spreads from his hands as he summon the deity from its slumber.

"But that shouldn't matter. You should always strive to be better."

Tapu Fini takes his end of the field. This time it recognizes her. A thin veil of water is put up preemptively, flowing around its shell similar to an AQUA RING.

Once again, his answer surprises her and she wears the shock plainly on her sleeve. [break][break]

And then she is left standing on the other side of the field facing him. Fernando's Tapu Fini appears in front of her, and the warmth at her hip grows exponentially at the prospect of a battle.[break][break]

She releases Moltres and the fire chicken spreads its wings. Its size dwarfs Stormy considerably, and its heat is incredible, magnified now by the sunny day Moltres commands.[break][break]

And with a great flap of its wings, Moltres kicks up a scorching sand like a tsunami, forcing the earth to act as a tidal wave of hot sand, splashing toward the opposing legendary.[break][break]

The pooled water seems to have no end. As long as the Tapu’s shell remains open, cracked open at an acute angle, water continues to pour out. The actual tsunami clashes against the SCORCHING SANDS, only able to withstand the water’s discourse due to the SUNNY DAY.

The mixture creates a beach-like sludge that spills from the center of the field. Neither Pokemon seemed affected due to their levitation or flight. Still, the Tapu Fini does not let up. This time it directs its hands into a pointed directory as a blast of water erupts from its shell.

There is steam where the hot sand meets cold water. It turns the ground into sludge, and it seems that neither party are willing to bend or give up. It leaves the arena in disarray, and Stormy's shoes become waterlogged immediately. She kicks them off, toes gripping wet sand.[break][break]

"Moltres, move!"[break][break]

With a beat of fiery wings, the legendary bird pivots sharply in the air, narrowly missing the pointed geyser of water. It sprays into the sky with force, spraying Stormy on the other side. She coughs and sputters, wiping the damp from her eyes at the miniature rain shower.[break][break]

Bright green light manifests at the Moltres' core, blasting out in a solid beam of light toward the Tapu. The solar beam is hot, giving off energy in a similar fashion to a hyper beam.[break][break]

[attr="class","spiral"]Another surge of water comes forth as the SURF continues. This time, the environment favors the Tapu, a stark contrast from their isolated showdown on Stark Mountain. It continues to draw from its own innate powers; its mastery over the ocean comes out in full force. Here, in Slateport, the proximity to the sea only amplifies the well that it draws from.

The SOLAR BEAM is a blight that pierces through the encroaching tidal wave. It evaporates everything it touches but it never strikes true. The swirling brine makes it impossible to tell why the attack never connected but once the light fades the glimmer of a PROTECT shines through the water. Cracks along the barrier spread from the point of contact and it breaks shortly after.

The hole from the SOLAR BEAM is filled out as the ocean continues to drown both the field and the skies.

The energy wave that follows the impact is intense, a true indication of strength surpassing the regular Pokemon.[break][break]

But overconfidence, and a twinge in Stormy's demeanor spells disaster. It's the way her Moltres moves, with an unbridled rage, a desperate need to prove itself. Though it doesn't require Stormy's guidance, there is a disconnect between them. A point of fear.[break][break]

She hadn't been enough in Slateport, she hadn't been able to protect the legendary bird as she had in the volcano.[break][break]

Stormy tenses, immobile when the Tapu's protect manages the brunt of the solar beam. Moltres hasn't moved because it is sure that it's hit its mark, that it will be victorious. It doesn't see the barrier fall. Doubt begins to leak in as Moltres stares down another opponent it could not beat.[break][break]

Stormy sucks in a breath that catches.[break][break]

Moltres lets out a cry, pushing away with a gust of wind, propelling itself away from the Tapu temporarily with a burst of tail wind.[break][break]

[attr="class","spiral"]Taking to the skies is the only thing that causes the Tapu Fini to deviate from its initial battle plan. The water, as all encompassing as it is, cannot hope to catch the Moltres once it takes off. It needs something faster regardless of power. After all, damage only applies once the target is hit.

So, as the field remains damp, littered in the splash back of so many water attacks, Tapu Fini launches a string of pink lightning. The NATURE'S MADNESS zips through the air in an arc, cackling as it looks to catch whatever it can in with each static pop. The MISTY TERRAIN around it starts to pool, preparation for its next move.
