Fernando knocks twice, exactly, on her door. Honestly, even without the bait he probably would've showed up. He just needs to push her far along enough that he can gauge how much she 'needs' him versus what she's actually after. He has an inkling of her intent but shrugs it off at the price of something worth his time.

Imagine his surprise when she actually has some bait.

And, naturally, Fernando seems no different than any other day. The festivities are lost upon him, uncaring for the otherwise uneventful Valentine's.

The last thing she wanted was for Fernando to show up and for her to not follow up on his request - even if she had absolutely no idea where the little metal man had gone. It hung around her place and often kept out of sight. People who stopped by never saw it as it usually disappeared into the outlets or something.[break][break]

Frankly, she didn't care. It was safe and not behind bars in a sketchy back-alley black market operation. That's all that mattered. It didn't occur to her until Fernando's pressed for a bribe that he might even want to see it. Honestly, it surprised her that she'd even not thought about it. Lately, the first person she thought of to tell things to was him.[break][break]

Wasn't that strange.[break][break]

Two sharp knocks at her front door indicate that he's arrived, and she opens the palm of her hand to reveal the melted solder-looking Pokemon with the golden bolt head. It stares up at her with its single beady black eye, clearly confused. But it doesn't attempt to run when she approaches the front door with the little metal man in her hand.[break][break]

She's using the door to help her stand - she isn't sloppy yet but it never took much.[break][break]

And it becomes readily apparent in the rapid thud of her heartbeat that she was very happy to see him.[break][break]

Stormy blinks, at first bewildered by the way his attention had lingered- it felt longer given the blush of alcohol pooling in her cheeks.[break][break]

She hesitates before lifting the little man up for him to see, if only because she's just remembered what 'that' is that he might be referring to. While texting him, she'd been relaxing in the bath with her glass of not-wine. [break][break]

He can't believe he's having this conversation. There are a lot of insults and criticisms he may have for her—some valid, others expired with age and her own development, but somehow they've rewound the clock as he feels them bubble in the pit of his stomach. Why they're conversation over her dogshit naming conventions for her Pokemon, he has no idea.

She must be joking. Surely—no. Before he can even commit to the idea, her own nickname pervades his mind and he accepts the foregone conclusion. Someone who named themselves Stormy would also have the audacity to name something metallic Tim—like tin but not quite.

She's answered him but her implication goes unnoticed. He remains oblivious to her scheme because he's dead set certain she's looking for something else. The mention of Balder does not come cheap, nor out of nowhere. He suspect that despite her words there is grieve. A misunderstanding?

Her mind is hazy, but one thing has managed to stay the same, and Fernando had renained at the forefront of her thoughts, her worries, her fears. His voice is filled with hesitance because even Fernando is uncertain on what to say. In his eyes, up until the last few seconds, her confession is entirely left field. What intimacy they shared blossomed from her fear, from the mutilation of her spirit and her inability to cope. Regardless of what they 'had' or whatever was 'between' them, one thing still stands: she needed 'it' and she needs 'him'.

The Blackout of Slateport expands beyond the borders of that maleficent night. It creeps on the unanimous need humans have to crave a light, a pillar of certainty, amidst the darkness.

The words flow as naturally as his expression.

His refusal is as perpetrated as her revelation. "If you're drawing me into whatever mess you have with Balder Schwartz then you better be prepared to pay up." The fact that she 'loved' him still doesn't sit right with him. He refuses to believe it because Stormy's history of men have been subpar at best. He's not privy to most of them—any of them really, but the fact that it involves Balder, Laurence Anderson, and ALEXANDER STONE is already bad enough.

None of those are men of particular distinction. Well, maybe Stone. He could give her that but the fact that she had went so far as to put marriage on the table shows how shortsighted her 'love' was. Everyone else just throws that word around carelessly. Even cait alfric, who Fernando has no doubt in his mind means it, only coerces a confession from himself due to the spontaneous callout.

He had said it, not because he meant it, but because he couldn't afford not to.

How he truly feel is still undetermined. Bottled in a cellar buried in never-ending demands. Such trivial matters never get to skim the surface. That's why he refuses to address them.
