Horseback on an active volcano?! That was speaking Eva’s language. The newest Head Scientist of The League was eager to explore the region and now she would be able to check Mt. Chimney off the list. Her emerald eyes were wide with excitement as she sat atop a classic Rapidash, reins held firmly in one hand. The other pulled the ballcap on her head down to fit it snuggly on to her head. The doctor’s wild blond hair cascaded down the back of it as a ponytail laced through the back.

In addition to exploring Mt. Chimney, the doctor was anxious to let the Rapidash loose and see how fast they could go. Whether her travel buddy would be into something like that was a mystery, “Ready to venture forth into the unknown?!” she grinned enthusiastically, looking at Melody Miro as the path up the volcano materialized before them.

The clops of a rather confusing variety soon began to ring within earshot of Eva Dumont dreva as she most likely turned around and saw Melody miro on a peculiar pokemon. She was riding a galarian rapidash that she rented out but it seemed like she was a bit in over her head. She had absolutely NO control over the creature as it moved around haphazardly as if trying to get her off. Her grip proved to be a bit too tight though and rapidash couldn't get the trainer off "I NEED SOME HELP FIRSTTTT" she shouted as she sobbed a bit. Eventually she fell off the horse and landed square on her ass in the dirt, she sprawled out as the rapidash then stayed in place and calmed down after she got off.

Eva’s head tilted slightly to glance behind her at the sound of a worried Melody Miro. The Galarian Rapidash’s steps sounded frantic and arrhythmic. Eva pulled on her reins slowing her own Rapidash and turning ti slightly to look behind her. She gasped as Melody fell off the pokemona nd right onto the rocky ground, “Melody, are you ok?!” she asked with concern, turning her beast to trot towards the Galarian Rapidash. She reached out and grabbed the reins so the pokemon wouldn’t flee.

“Want some help back up?” if she wanted to continue. It didn’t seem like she was having a great time, “It’s all about confidence, Melody! Squeeze those thighs and show ‘em whose boss,” she winked, handing the woman the reins to the pastel equine. She knew the statement sounded dirty but riding horses had an intrinsically sensual nature to it.

The only thing wounded was melody's pride. She steadily pushed herself off the floor as the galarian rapidash checked it's mane for any dirt as eva grabbed it's reins. It didn't even react to Eva's presence "What the heck! Why are you nicer to her than me rapidash?!" she said pouting at it as she crossed her arms. She let out a small sigh "I got it!" as the fire in her eyes reignited, she began to climb upon rapidash once more. The rapidash got upset as she climbed but she took eva's advice and squeezed her thighs. Rapidash didn't take too kindly to it though and began to try and push her off again, but melody grabbed on for dear life once more and after a minute or two it stopped. Melody opened her eyes as rapidash seemed to have tire itself out. "Are you done yet?" she asked it as it let out a long exageratted puff of air "Thank you, and thank's Eva...seems like it just had too much energy or something. You're pretty good with pokemon huh?" she said complimenting her skills at understanding the rapidash, melody was better with pokemon who were more inclined to the arts like music or dance.

Eva hid her amusement at Melody’s predicament through a playful grin. She released ther eins as Melody grabbed them again, a determined fire burning in her eyes. Eva recognized that fire, it was one she frequently kindled, “Alright then, up and at it!” she cheered, backing up her Rapidash a few steps to give the musician and her Galarain Rapidash.

After a little effort, the equine calmed down, allowing Melody to sit (somewhat) comfortably atop it, “Good job!” Eva beamed with a bright smile, “It comes with experience,” she laughed to the younger woman. Well, experience and nearly a dozen credit hours of formal education on pokemon behavior, of course. Eva had an unfair advantage.

“Have you ever been to Mt. Chimney?” she inquired, leading them towards the winding path up the side of the mountain. Eva was hoping for brilliant views of Hoenn as the they worked their way up.

Melody looked a bit unsteady, but rapidash moved steadily to not throw melody off guard as she eventually felt the flow of this horse riding. The clopping of the hooves of both pokemon made a nice rhythm that she could follow quite easily. Music was always around her, she just had to look for it whenever there was life around her. She smiled a bit as she got the hang of it "Yeah im just out of my element I suppose. I'm a lot better with water pokemon. I grew up near the ocean so this kinda stuff is beyond me." she added. [break][break]

As mt chimney began to come into view, melody looked at it with awe. "Ooooo...no I haven't it's why I want to go see it, there's a few spots in hoenn I haven't been to." she explained "What about you? Have you explored it before? it seems pretty nice here." she said looking around and trusting the untrustworthy rapidash who was a pain in her side for a bit as she took in the beautiful sights. "Have you visited before?" she asked curiously.

Eva encouraged her Rapidash forward with a gentle press of her heels into the equine’s side. The pokemon grunted, picking up the pace slightly to lead the way up the winding mountain path.

“I love the ocean!” Eva mused in response, directing her Rapidash around a sharp curve to continue the climb up, “I love to free dive, really get down there,” she nodded for emphasis, glancing back at Melody to make sure her Rapidash didn’t try and throw her off while rounding the turn. Things were about to get steep so keeping control would be important.

“Nope! Never been here. I’m excited to see the view though!” And climb the mountain. A good challenge was always right up Eva’s alley. After climbing it on horseback, she’d consider hiking up on foot. IT would be a much more difficult and longer climb but making it to the summit would be worth it.

“How have you been since the contest? Any shows coming up?” Eva first saw Melody perform at the Vital Spirit Festival and was very impressed.

Melody had smiled when eva mentioned how she loved the ocean. She was glad someone else shared her love for the ocean, so endless, so blue, so empty yet full of life if you just looked beneath the surface a bit. "Free diving huh? same!" she said "I grew up in Lilycove and my family enabled my love for the ocean." she continued the conversation. The rapidash was much calmer now, at least for now since he was tuckered out.

Eva then asked how melody's been since the contest. "Lost the contest won the war?" she said with a question mark "I'm becoming the gym leader for Sootopolis. They chose me out of everyone else, not really even sure why. I guess dahlia goode saw potential in me? Im excited, and confused and also terrified all at the same time." she replied.

“huh?” Eva questioned the statement, unsure of what Melody was hinting towards. Luckily, she was quick to follow up with the answer, “Gym leader?!” Eva gasped in equal excitement. The blond spun around on her Rapidash to look at Melody with a bright smile, “That’s amazing! Congratulations! That’s quite the honor,” Eva had a deep respect for Gym Leaders, not only because she worked with them frequently, but they were imperative in the education of the region. Each imparted a unique wisdom onto their pupils. Eva had no doubt Melody would make a fabulous gym leader, “I’ll have to come visit as soon as I can!” she had work with the previous leader once, “I’m excited to see what you do with it!” she nodded firmly.

Eva turned forward again before addressing the subtle imposter syndrome e Melody was experiencing, “I guarantee every Gym Leader has felt that way. Confidence will come with time. For what it’s worth, I’m confident you’ll make a great Gym Leader,”
