Huh? He spared Slowbro the pain "Very well, I'll accept it." She said as a small grin appeared on her face, she was glad he seemed to be enjoying himself and confidant. She almost broke character during the performance when she witnessed mistral, she was familiar with him as Mistral was with Rowan when they handled that slacking together the first time they met. It felt like a lifetime at this point when they first encountered that slaking [break][break]

Who could've predicted that they would face off like this? It was kind of heart warming, the only thing that could make it even better is if she won. Which she fully intended to make happen. "Teje, dodge." she orders as the Chlorophyll's speed boost made it easier to move out of the way. Which was a lucky break, if wasn't for the gap in speed between the two Melody's leavanny would have been destroyed. [break][break]

Their bonds were strong, it was time to push them. "Leavanny. String shot, widen the gap in speed." she tells him as she continued to dance and leavanny chowed down on several berries very fast to create some very colorful string shots that flew towards mistral in a web formation. "Leavanny make's some beautiful displays doesn't he? Lose yourself in their colors and submit." she says as the sunny day light passes through them and refracts the light only slightly.

Mistral didn’t have a chance to dodge the String Shot due to the unstoppable trajectory, finding themselves wrapped up in the web when Drill Peck landed them on the other side of the arena. “You got this, don’t panic!” Rowan cheered the Piplup on, expecting them to already know how to handle this situation with their thorough training. Mistral hopped onto his feet with a confident nod in response, flippers bound to their sides by the String Shot but that wasn’t about to stop them.

The Piplup slowly began to spin in a circle, gaining speed rapidly as water gathered around them in a tornado-like fashion. Mistral and the Whirlpool advanced on the Leavanny quickly, using the centrifugal force of the attack to speed themselves up. Rowan smirked as the Pokémon found a creative use for the move that Melody had seen once before when they fought Slaking, but in a much different form. “You can’t win, Mel. We’ve got this in the bag.”

Their bonds were obvious, that was very obvious from anyone who was watching. What if Melody were to push back harder? Would the bonds stand the stress test? Rowan was also certainly being creative in his moves, he would make for a great coordinator if he wanted to be one. [break][break]

As Piplup swirled around in the vortex of water, leavanny crossed it's hands and blocked the attack as it's power was weakened by the sunny day and Leavanny's typing. The two clash and Melody's timing seemed perfect, "Now, while he's close. Leaf blade." as Leavanny's eyes flashed and sliced right at Mistral's whirpool making easy work of the water type's attack. The sunny day's power slowly began to fade away and melody dolled a second order out "Sunny day again. We need to keep this tempo." she tells him.

Rowan clenched his fists as he watched the Leavanny make short work of the Whirlpool, slicing through the water and knocking Mistral down onto the ground. “Come on, you can do this!” Mistral wobbled slightly as they pushed themselves up from the floor, dizzy from their own attack and injured from Leavanny’s. “Don’t give up, one more time!” Rowan called out, cheering the Piplup on to continue fighting.

The look he got in return from Mistral wasn’t confidence, tears welling up in the Piplup’s eyes as they glanced back at their trainer. “Wait, time out!” Rowan called out towards Melody, running up to his Pokemon and kneeling down next to them. “I know it’s hard, but you can do this. We’ve been training together forever.” He smiled, cupping the cheek of Mistral with a hand. “I believe in you.”

A white glow surrounded Mistral as the Pokemon smiled back, wiping the tears from their eyes with both fins. Rowan watched as the Piplup changed before his eyes, growing and evolving into a Prinplup. Both arms wrapped around the water-type to give them a hug once the transition finished, holding them tight for a moment before standing up and taking a few steps back. “You ready to kick their ass now?” Mistral nodded with confidence, the edges of their fins beginning to glow with silver energy that hadn’t been seen before.

“Alright, we’re ready, Mel!” Rowan called out towards his opponent, a smile adorning his face that was likely the happiest she’d ever seen him before. “Go, Mistral! Metal Claw!” The Prinplup surged forward towards Leavanny once more, swinging one of the energized swipes directly for the grass-type.

Melody couldn't keep up the act, a tear formed in her eye as she watched the genuine bond between Pip- No, prinplup. the genuine bond between them both was so beautiful to witness as Piplup literally evolved from how much love the two shared. [break][break]

That was enough to get her riled up. "Alright then, come at us!" as the music restarted and melody let her tears of joy flow. "Teje dodge!" she shouts as Prinplup got a sudden HUGE boost in speed and able to keep up with Leavanny as the sunny day faded away. [break][break]

Leavanny's face was full of shock as the metal claw landed and smacked Leavanny right in the face. The bug pokemon flew back but managed to land fairly well as it was the first hit they took. "Leavanny! Quick set up another sunny day!" she orders as she had to try and keep up with prinplup's newfound speed. Could chlorophyll even make up the difference now?

“You got this, Mistal!” An excited smile was replaced with a confident smirk when the Metal Claw struck the Leavanny, knowing that this battle had suddenly turned in their favor. “They’re not attacking, take advantage.”

Mistral nodded and prepared for another attack, taking a deep breath before exhaling a Bubblebeam into the opponent. A series of bubbles crossed the battlefield, ready to explode upon contact on the target, should they strike.

The leavanny was too busy setting up the sunny day to stop the onslaught of bubbles coming at his face and the move never even went off. Damn His tempo was getting faster and Leavanny was starting to fall behind. "Teje no!" she shouts as the bubbles absolutely pelted the pokemon's body. [break][break]

The music suddenly scratched and stopped before the track changed to a different song to reflect the battle's final moments "Teje slash at them! Quickly we need to end it before it's too late!" she says as Teje gathers themselves back up as the scratch marks on it's body began to show and it's movements were slowing down. She knew it was over, it was up to Rowan and Prinplup to finish it off with a beautiful finale.

Mistral was stronger now, and faster than before. “Dodge, and attack again.” Rowan called out, watching pride as the Prinplup ducked to the side to avoid the Slash from Leavanny. Their motion was effortless and clean, possessing more grace than they did once as a Piplup, it was almost like looking at a whole new Pokémon. Yet, there was an all too familiar confidence and pride in their eyes that was unmistakable from the Mistral he knew.

Once more an energy gathered around the beak of the penguin Pokémon, culminating in them surging forward with another Drill Peck aimed to strike the Leavanny directly. “Get them!”

The leavanny cried out as the drill peck landed successfully. Leavanny was sent flying into the air before falling down and crashing onto the floor. It tried to pick itself back up but struggle for a few moments and then dropped as it passed out. Melody recalled teje back into it's pokeball and kissed the ball "You did fabulously teje." she says as Melody's frown turned into a giant smile as a sense of pride welled up within her. [break][break]

After a few moments melody raised her right hand and snapped her fingers as confetti shot out and victory music played for rowan as he had won! The crowd let out tremendous roar cheering for him "Rowan! Rowan! Rowan!" they shouted in a unified rhythm. Melody walked down from her stage towards rowan with a big grin on her face as she gave him friend a hug before speaking to the crowd. [break][break]

"As you can all see his bond with prinplup was the motivating factor for his piplup's evolution. Let the love he has for his Pokémon be an example for all of you of how strong of an emotion love is. So without further ado, Rowan Wrynn, you exhibited perfectly the educational goal of my gym." She reached into her jacket and pulled out a small box and opened it for him with the Rhythm badge inside. "So I believe you have earned the Rhythm badge. Do you accept?" she asked him waiting for his answer.

Cheers erupted all around as the battle came to its conclusion, unable to stop himself from smiling as he glanced over the arena. There was a moment where he could have sworn he’d seen Cillian Quinn and THEO BECKETT among the crowd, though his attention was quickly brought to Melody as she approached. “That was intense.” Rowan laughed slightly as he wrapped his arms around his best friend to return the hug. “Sorry about making fun of your outfit.” He smirked and pulled back, allowing her to address the audience.

He’d kneel down as she spoke, gesturing for Mistral to climb onto his back. The Prinplup was heavier and larger than before, unable to continue taking residence in his hood, but still able to be carried piggy-back. “Absolutely, I do.” Rowan smiled towards Melody, reaching out to pluck the badge free from the box and hold it aloft into the air. Once more the crowd exploded into a chorus of cheers.
