The sand was thoroughly littered with bits of this and that, a few pokemon seemed to be trapped by the various plastic bits. It was an all around mess of a place and thankfully she and another had decided to take it upon themselves to make the first round of clean up. Though Zakuro was a particular bird and would most likely spend as much time as she needed in order to clean the whole beach. It was to bad she did not have within her possession a pokemon to light up the night for her to continue on doing as they would say “burning the midnight oil” however she had gotten to the beach fairly early enough that if she started quickly she and whoever managed to join would finish before no time. Her endeavor started alone however as it seemed her partner was going to be running late from the looks of it, calling out to her three pokemon the lot of them began to collect trash as the edge of the shore nearest the grass.

“Listen to me,” Locke said sternly, squishing De-De’s pouting face between their hands to keep her gaze on them.

“Listen. Trash goes in the trash bag. Not your tail. Not your mouth. Trash. Bag,” he enunciated the last two words while placing the plastic in the Delibird’s grasp. De-De miserably opened and shook out the black bag until it was ready to be filled.

In the distance, Li-Li cheerily waddled after Noc-Noc with her own bag, accepting anything the Noctowl tossed her way. Without her bolder leader the other penguin was actually much more well-behaved and even seemed enthralled with the larger bird’s telekinesis. Noc-Noc lifted another half-empty soda can with her Psychic and crushed it, a little too close to Lumi-Lumi, who didn’t appreciate being sprayed with sticky droplets.

The firefly Pokemon buzzed angrily at the owl, before drifting off a little further down the beach while wiping the offending liquid away. There were a few other figures scattered in this direction, and as she approached them her light revealed a little bear.

Then another little bear.

Then one very big bear.

The Bewear towered over the little Illumise, who’s light cast it in a menacing glow that sent Lumi-Lumi flying back towards her trainer in tears.

A few others had started to gather to the beach in order to help with the clean up, thankfully it looked as thought she wouldn’t be working alone in this ordeal. The thought of trying to clean the beach in one go had crossed her mind several times but reality was always a harsh mistress, calling her back as soon as a lofty and unattainable goal had formed in her mind. No matter how many people seemed to join the mission to clean the beach, every day the waves would bring in just as much trash as the group the night before had cleaned up. Efforts to clean the waves were in the talks but well finding the source of the trash was the current problem for them. Zakuro’s train of thought was derailed however when a commotion seemed to be happening near her Pokemon, from the distance she couldn’t really tell what was going on. No doubt her poor little guys had most likely tried to eat some beach trash and someone had tried to stop them, it wasn’t like she starved the poor creatures! The commotion seemed to be growing louder giving Zakuro cause to finish up her area before heading over towards the doom squad, giving her little bears a good look over before peering off in front of them. From what she could tell they seemed to have startled or possibly tried to eat another smaller bug type Pokemon. Zakuro sighed heavily “ guys you can’t eat other people we talked about this !”

With De-De back on task, Locke could finally start working himself. He carefully went about collecting the various litter scattered by the wind and waves, tutting every so often over some of the things he found. Was it really so hard to toss chips away when you left?

They didn’t get very far, the bottom of their trash bag barely covered when a fast-approaching light caught their attention. A tearful Lumi-Lumi flung herself into her trainer’s arms, forcing them to drop the partially-filled bag. “Huh? Now what?”

Thankfully Locke didn’t need to wait for the lightning bug to calm down to answer, as another volunteer around their age approached the pair. “Eat?” They looked around until their gaze landed on the Teddiursa and Pancham near the girl’s feet.

Really? That’s what Lumi-Lumi was scared of? A couple of little bear cubs no bigger than she was trying to eat her? “Oh I’m sure they weren’t doing anything like tha-” Locke cut off his reassurances as a significantly larger and more intimidating Bewear lumbered into the scene.

Ah. Ok. Well he could certainly see where the Illumise might’ve gotten that idea.

“Um, I mean, I’m sure they didn’t mean any trouble!” He continued a few octaves higher. “Lumi-Lumi tends to overreact ya know!” That earned him a teary and indignant pout from the bug in his arms.

Bear of Doom was doing their best to convince Zakuro that they were not in fact trying to eat anyone! The confusion had come because a certain someone (Beware) had a little habit of just well sticking everything into his mouth. Zakuro snickered at the illumise’s reaction to her masters words, thought she couldn’t help but feel a little bad for the misunderstanding. With a deep bow to the lot of them the three bears followed suit, keeping low until Zakuro returned to her standing position. “sorry to scare you it seems the Doom patrol caused a little misunderstanding with your soft hearted fellow here” motioning for bear of doom to come forward, she tried her best to reassure the little illumise it was ok. “he might be a little on the large side and he does have a habit of eating anything but we have had the Pokemon are friends not food talk a lot I promise” the beware behind her nodded along to her words looking a little sheepish as she mentioned his habits. “I hope that you can forgive this big ole goofy bear, lumi-lumi was it?” she flashed a smile to the little pouting bug.

Lumi-Lumi seemed unconvinced, giving the poor bear a withering glare.

“I wouldn’t worry about her too much, she’s been grouchy all night. But, er, are you also here to clean up? I’ve been trying to get these guys to focus, but it’s been…”

They looked over at Li-Li and Noc-Noc. The Delibird had completely abandoned her bag-holding job and was instead tossing trash in the air for her owl companion to catch with her Psychic. It wouldn’t be long before that portion of the beach was worse off than when they started.

Zakuro couldn’t help but snicker at the banter the two seemed to be having mentally, it was rather cute to watch them bicker sweetly with each other over the incident at hand. Turning to see where he was looking, Zakuro found his company having a little party by themselves making more of a mess then they were actually cleaning up. She couldn’t help but start laughing at the sight of them, knowing they were suppose to be helping it wasn’t hard to see why the poor Pokemon had gotten a little bored of the task it was a lot to handle.

“we are here to clean up, we have been doing a rather good job thought someone keeps eating the trash that still has food in its wrapper” she gave a glance to her teddiusras who stared straight head as thought they had heard none of the conversation or the accusation she had just spoken. “since it seems like it might help, want to team up and see if our Pokemon can motivate each other?” she proposed suddenly “ I mean the worst that could happen is they make a bigger mes… hm.. “ she stopped herself before continuing on “ lets just think positive” she quickly changed her tune not wanting to bring up some bad karma from speaking about it.

“Ah, I understand that…” De-De gave the Tediursa an approving look. If the Delibird had a thumb, it would be up.

Knowing their own Pokémon, Locke thought it was entirely probable they would just make more of mess. The company sound nice though, especially given how late they were likely going to end up staying out.

“What do you say Lumi-Lumi? Think you can get them back on track?” The Illumise looked over at the two troublemakers, wiggled out of her trainer’s grasp, and flew over to shout something that made the pair hurry to look as if they’d been working the whole time. She was as lazy as they came, but it seemed like it was alright to let her get a little bossy sometimes.

Now that the lot of them had seemed to make up it looked like the duo was now going to be able to work forward into the night to finish their part of the beach clean up. Her three mischievous Pokemon were the cause of quite a stir but the little pack they were making would hopefully get their acts together. It was a cute little sight to watch the bug Pokemon work up the courage to suddenly become the boss of two big bear Pokemon but Zakuro couldn’t help but think it was a well deserved turn of events. “since the group looks like its accepted the terms we should probably get back to work” sighing , Zakuro took another look around the beach “ no more eating trash!” she scolded the lot of them before turning back to Locke “well shall we!”
