Unfortunately, Lex is forced to conceal her true looks Being a wanted woman and all that shit was annoying as hell but she wasn’t about to pass up this opportunity. Her complexion just change much, just the gnarly scar over her left eye is gone. It gives her a much more approachable appearance.

Ruby lips flash a smile at her opponent, “Lex, nice to meet you too” she grins before eyeing the Rapidash at his side, “Very nice,” she praises, assessing the fiery equine. A pokeball flashes open to reveal her chosen pokemon. A feisty Raichu appears on the sand. Electricity pops from his cheeks, “Luck?” the smile turns to a smirk, “Yea, sure, good luck.”

"not so bad yourself," he returns the compliment, eyeing her raichu. he moves his attention back to the rapidash, giving it a permissive nod.

"let's do it."

the heat in a small area around the fire-type rises significantly for a moment as the flames around his tail, mane and fetlocks all flare outwards. when they subside, a result of his AGILITY, he feels his muscles flowing with new-found strength.

the rapidash takes off in a puff of smoke and sand, barreling at high speeds towards his opponent. around him, like a shuttle re-entering the atmosphere, a FLAME WHEEL forms. it threatens to burn all it comes into contact with.

“So this will be a battle of speed!” Lex comments with excitement as the Rapidash quickens itself with agility. The thief loves a fast-paced battle. Sparks crack and dance across the Raichu as she takes a battle position. The electricity snaps ferociously as his own AGILITY stimulates his muscles and quickens his speed. A surge of power courses through his body, “Take it, and slow it down!” Lex commands with a clenched fist.

The mouse’s tail flicks anxiously at the command, but he understands what he needs to do. The Raichu takes the Flame Wheel and collides with the Rapidash. His tail whips out from behind him and up to grab onto the equine so he doesn’t go far. Electricity crackles from his cheeks as his small arms attempt to wrap around the horse and smother him with a paralyzing NUZZLE.

"shake it off!" greyson yells.

but it's not quick enough.

stimulated by it's AGILITY, the raichu has no issue catching up to the fire horse pokemon. it takes the full brunt of his attack, but manages to cling onto it's cream colored coat, tiny rodent arms wrapping around his neck for dear life.

even from where he stood, greyson could see the sparks of electricity transfer from her raichu to gesh. the result was instant, gesh's muscles locking as the PARALYZE takes hold. what started as a thunderous gait slows to a hastened trot.

greyson desperately needed to take advantage of the raichu's courage.

"speed yourself up again! push past the pain! make sure it regrets trying to match your speed!" his words are hurried. encouraging. loud.

gesh responds.

the hair-replacing fire on it's body again flares, it's AGILITY rising further. but he needed to do more. the fire around him tightens and coils like a serpent, slithering from around gesh's body towards the raichu in a vicious FIRE SPIN.

he desperately tries to ignore his slowly aching muscles.

King is able to land the NUZZLE with no issue. When he feels the Rapidash’s muscles tighten beneath his grip he is satisfied and releases. He pushes of the equine and land in the sand, fur singed and smoking but he was protected from a burn for now, “Nice work, King! Lex praises the Raichu, “Don’t let up!”

The mouse takes that as a cue to boost his power. His eye narrow and grin turns wicked as the thought of frying that Rapidash with electricity stimulates the more carnal centers of his brain. NASTY PLOT sends a tingle through his small body and the crack of his electricity grows louder with the boost in energy.

He frowns as flames race towards him. He runs, trying the use his speed and erratic movements to throw the fire off his trail. Unfortunately, it is glued to him like a homing beacon and consistently buffets his already singed fur. In an effort to reduce the strikes he doesn’t stop moving, instead he races towards the Rapidash in a flash of lightning, leaping into the air and drawing his fist back for a THUNDER PUNCH to the fire-type’s side.

free from the burden of the mouse's grapple, gesh turns to come around again. whatever NASTY PLOT going on it's mind aside, the stallion charges forward.

as both pokemon approach, his eyes follow the raichu in its leap to strike. it's at this time, of course, a shiver of electricity courses through him and he feels his muscles PARALYZE. it allows the THUNDER PUNCH of the rodent to collide against gesh's ribs, knocking him to the side in a spark of electricity and flames.

"get up and retaliate!" greyson orders, heart pumping with adrenaline.

pushing himself to his feet, he opens his mouth and fires a condensed orb of flames. after a moment, the FIRE BLAST explodes into a five-pronged sign of destruction aimed right for the raichu.

gesh shakes his cream colored coat and lowers his neck  in challenge.

Despite leaping away after the Thunder Punch, the fiery vortex of the FIRE SPIN still followed. Another crack of electricity ran over his body as the Raichu attempted to yet again outrun the Fire Spin with an AGILITY but to know avail.

The hot hiss of fire against raw skin made the mouse cringe, sending him off balance and rolling across the sand. It was convenient timing for the Rapidash. The FIRE BLAST, in all its searing glory, consumed the electric-type in the inferno. King and seared sand flew from the collision point. Lex winced, knowing that had to hurt. Despite the struggle to get back up, King managed. There was a moment where Lex considered returning the pokemon, but decided against it. It was good for him to learn to fight ruthlessly until she said otherwise.

The charred Raichusprang forward and leapt into the air. Consumed in fire and electricity, the mouse pokemon let a wicked bolt of lightning flash from his core towards the Rapidash in a THUNDER SHOCK.

"yes! good shit, gesh." he yells encouragingly.

the flames of the stallion flare in response. a deep, throaty neigh rumbles from outwards, and the rapidash pustures with a shake of his head and stomp of his hooves. he pushes smoke through his nostrils, watching the raichu stand, a newfound respect for the mouse pokemon.

"the raichu's on it's last legs. lets finish this."

gesh dashes off in a kick of sand and debris, smoldering hooveprints left in his wake. recklessness, like a wild brush fire, consumes him entirely. he opens his maw and releases another five-pronged FIRE BLAST at the raichu.

he chases after his own attack, however, crashing through the FIRE BLAST and absorbing a small amount of its heat into his FLAME WHEEL in a FLASH FIRE.

the amber colored flames brighten to a cherry red, as the heat and power rise. the FIRE BLAST acts as the backdrop of his headlong dash into the THUNDER SHOCK, showers of sparks and flames created in the wake of their collision.

the muscles of his chest lock, and his lips twitch-up into a temporary grin that shows off his massive teeth. with momentum on his side, he charges straight for the raichu for one last hoorah, already feeling his legs give out on him.

Fire Spin persist, tearing at King’s singed fur, break raw skin that make the mouse wince and fold over in pain. Crimson lips curl into a toothy smile as Lex watches the Rapidash charge forward in all its fiery glory. There’s not much the Raichu can do. THUNDER SHOCK strikes true in a flurry of flames and sparks. Still, the equine persists, its momentum carrying it forward until it crashed into the Raichu with all the force it’s built up. Lex already has the pokemon’s pokeball in her hands before he even hits the sand, “Impressive!” she compliments as the beam of light stretches out from her hand to consume the lifeless Raichu.

After a moment of consideration, Lex makes a bold move and selects a pokeball from the particular set of pokemon that she rarely battles with. The sphere cracks open and a Dusknoir materializes in a dark mist, fists clenched and crimson eye scanning the sandy battlefield. Umbra is a part of her elite group that serves as thieves, not battlers. Still, Lex is curious to see how the Dusknoir fairs in a battle. In proper battle etiquette, she waits for Greyson to make the first move since he won the last round.

"good job, gesh. pure force of will there."

he recalls the rapidash from its victory neighs. as impressive as the victory was, watching it prance around with his back two legs dragging behind him because of the paralysis, really took the pizzazz out of it.

"your raichu was impressive. really pushed gesh to the brink. looking forward to this next battle!"

he watches with a thoughtful, violet gaze, as she reveals her next pokemon. the massive ghost-type was ominous. but he had just the answer.

he reached for one of the pokemon he brought with him, conflicted. he had little time to train this one, and it was prone to deviancy. but still, it would make for a good show, if he could listen. deciding, he tossed it out. 

taking shape in the sand, a gengar bounced from one foot to the other.

"we're up, echo. start us off with a shadow ball!"

the gengar's tongue drooped out of his mouth, either mocking the opponent or simply being aloof, greyson wasn't sure. but, in each hand, he began to absorb the ambient light around him into small, black hole like orbs. then, without much care, he fires the SHADOW BALLS off in the dusknoir's direction.

his laugher echoes, almost wanting his opponent to strike back against him and his CURSED BODY.

Lex smirks as she watches the Rapidash celebrate with two limp hind limbs. At least King left a bit of a lasting impression on the fire-type. She accepts Greyson’s compliment with a nod. King did okay. He needs to be better, stronger. There’s no room for weakness where she comes from.

Greyson counters her Dusknoir with a Gengar. A toothy smile pulls across scarlet lips, “A Gengar,” there’s a admiration in the way she states the obvious. He closest companion is a Gengar but far too precious to waste in battles. She can’t risk anything permanent happening to him.

Lex is intimately familiar with Gengar and their CURSED BODIES. Fortunately, Umbra’s moveset is set up nicely to take on an opponent like this. The biggest challenge would be staying awake. Lex knows a Gengar’s dirty tricks, “FUTURE SIGHT,” Umbra obeys. The Dusknoir’s single eye glows with pink and purple hues, peering into the future and lying a trap for her ghostly opponent.

The concentration makes for an easy target. The first SHADOW BALL strikes and drives the Dusknoir back. The apparition spins left, narrowly avoiding the second which crashes beside her in a burst of sand.

the league officer doesn't take her silence to his compliment for anything more than a woman zeroing in on her next battle. he recognizes the fierce spirit that was just beyond the veil of her eyes.

she likely didn't battle simply for sport, but rather, for a more defined purpose. in a way, he was the same; every battle was a lesson for the next.

and he couldn't afford to lose here.

he gives her a simple nod in return when she speaks. something more lingers in her words, an aftertaste of something personal, but greyson doesn't let the thought sweep him away. instead, his focus remains on the battle, frowning at her command. he was intimately familiar with FUTURE SIGHT, having used it a number of times.

that also meant he knew the futility of fixating on it.

"dark pulse."

greyson tries to reflect on his face the confidence of his words, but falters slightly. a nervous bite of his lip. the constant knuckle cracking at his hip. grey couldn't shake a feeling in his gut that told him this wasn't going to end well.

ahead of him, the gengar responds. throwing his violet coated hands in front of him, echo forms an orb of shadow that is entirely devoid of light. laughing to himself, his giggles high pitched and uncomfortable, the gengar compresses the orb instantly, a DARK PULSE radiating outwards.

a wave of sinister energy racing- reaching- for anything it could grasp.

There’s no point in dwelling on the FUTURE SIGHT. The trap has been laid. Hopefully, it would work as planned. Until then, Umbra still had a battle to fight.

Darkness rushed towards the massive ghost. In a bold move, she too rushes towards the darkness. It consumes her, ripping and tearing at her spectral body with malicious force. It threatens to break her, but she is resilient and she tears through nonetheless. Ectoplasm oozes from fissures in her ethereal form but she strikes. Large palms press forward. From the darkness emerges light. Spheres of searing blue flames leave her body. Like bullets, they break through the DARK PULSE, attempting to surround the Gengar and strike at its CURSED BODY with the intention to burn.
