His opponent was another Rocket. At this rate, he'd end up fighting every member.

Much like his other matches, this one was a touch personal. He'd be facing Rowan Wrynn, one of the men who'd had a role in Lex's capture by the League. Alexandra Briarwood chose his freedom over hers. Upsetting to Killian, but he couldn't change the past.

What he could do was see if Rowan had kept to his word.

Poipole, Vespiquen, and Vaporeon stood at the ready. The format for their battle was a rotation one. So, at the front was Poipole, beside it on the left was Vespiquen, and to its right sat Vaporeon.

    “Good to see you here, Killian. I’m looking forward to this battle.” Rowan was genuine about seeing the admin at this tournament, though less enthused that it could mean Alexandra Briarwood was stalking somewhere nearby. “I’ve gotten stronger since then.” He was intentionally vague, cautious of unseen onlookers who might be more than simple pedestrians.

    Poipole, Vespiquen and Vaporeon. An interesting team, and the presence of an Ultra Beast was especially concerning. “Alright, I know who I'm using.” Rowan produced three Pokeballs and unleashed the Pokémon contained within, revealing a Phione, a Sharpedo and a Milotic.

    A legendary to combat the Ultra Beast and one of the Pokémon that had been with him at the Cave of Origin seemed like fitting companions for this combat. “Thanks.” Rowan responded to the offer of first move, looking towards the Phione who nodded with reassurance that they could handle battling.

    “Alright Phione, you’re up first.” The Sea Drifter Pokemon stepped into the first position of the rotation, locking eyes with Poipole. A blue sphere of water gathered in front of the Phione that soon developed in pulsating rings, pushing each of them forward to strike the Poipole.

Phione used Water Pulse on Poipole. Rolling for Confusion (Need a 1-20)

"Show me." an order, "Don't hold back." because Killian certainly wouldn't be.

Rowan's choice of Pokemon was respectable. Sharpedo and Mioltic were powerful threats when correctly trained. But it was Phione that Killian found to be the most interesting. An eyebrow arched, "Now where you'd get that?" he questioned.

Poipole nervously met the aquatic drifter's gaze. It still wasn't comfortable being out in the open like this. It missed the solitude of Meteor Falls, where it was far away from prying eyes. Bloodborne tensed as Phione prepared and launched its attack. The Water Pulse landed without issue, soaking the beast. Pelted by the aquatic rings, Poipole's world began to spin.

"Focus!"

Poipole attempted to center itself as the world rotated rapidly around it. Panicked, it started to fire Toxic sludge from the needle on its head. Too confused to bother aiming, the sludge rained down haphazardly about the battlefield, attempting to drench Phione in the toxic substance.

    “Oh you know, places. When I was on a job, actually.” Rowan figured this was enough context for Killian to understand that he’d discovered the egg during an illegal Rocket operation. Never knew who was listening, especially since this tournament was organized by the League, couldn’t be too careful.

    “Hell yeah.” He smirked as the Water Pulse landed on their Poipole, knowing the confusion would give him the advantage in this battle. “Mako, need you to step in.” Phione moved backwards and the Sharpedo lunged into their place, becoming poisoned by the Poipole’s attack.

    “Alright, Giga Impact!” Pissed off from being poisoned, Sharpedo locked onto the Poipole with a predator's gleam in their eyes. An energy surrounded Mako as they prepared the attack, surging forward with an incredible speed while looking to slam the entire force of their body into the Poipole.

Killian doesn't press for an answer but makes a mental note to ask again later. For now, there was a battle that required his attention. Rowan's a little too quick to celebrate and makes the foolish decision to shout out his tactic. Not that Killian can blame him, he'd made the same mistake when fighting Alexandra Briarwood.

Hot air blows quickly through puckered lips once the Toxic lands. Two whistles rotate Vespiquen in and Poipole out. The queen bee's drones yank the Ultra Beast out of the way in the nick of time. Sharpedo smashes into Vespiquen like a rocket. Sharp, pain-filled buzzing assaults the ears of those nearby.

The admin winces, "Some advice, try not to call out your attacks unless you have to. Your opponent will have a harder time reacting if you keep what you're planning to yourself." had no one taught Rowan how to signal his Pokemon?

Another series of whistles, one long and one quick. Princess's moves became erratic, flying with no discernable pattern of movement. A sharp, ear-piercing buzz echoed that issued an Attack Order to her drones. They quickly descend upon Sharpedo in mass, stringers threatening to overwhelm.

“Phione, you’re up.” Switching places with the Sharpedo, the Legendary was now staring down the barrel of an oncoming Attack Order, though this wasn’t going to be too difficult for someone as fluid as them. “Down.”

Rowan took their advice and decided to make his callouts slightly more cryptic, watching as Phione suddenly disappeared into the floor of the arena with Dive, splashing into the ground as though it was water. “Like that?” He asked teasingly, watching as the Vespiquen’s attack smacked harmlessly into the ground.

"Yeah, like that." Killian replied plainly. There was nothing to do but wait for Phione to surface from the sand. The admin whistled to his Vespiquen. She buzzed, the signal received to launch another Attack Order once Phione became visible. [break][break]

"How have you been?" he asked, "From the looks of it, I'd say well. It looks like that hole in your leg healed nicely." [break][break]

“I’ve been as good as one can be, in our line of work.” Rowan didn’t bother to sugarcoat his unpleasant experiences with murder as of late, he wanted his disagreement with violent methodology to be known. “All that’s left is a nice little scar.” A hand reached to show off the circular scar underneath his shorts, seeming to have healed rather well. “We have some powerful healing Pokémon in the office.”

Before long Phione reappeared from the sand, slamming to the Vespiquen with the trajectory that was afforded by Dive, though they’d be forced to accept the damage from Attack Order due to close proximity.

"That's good to hear." Killian rubbed at his neck, haunting memories of Lulu Flint and her attack in the hospital poured into his mind. "Yeah, you're right, we do." blue orbs focused back on the battle.[break][break]

Hit by the dive, Killian whistled to have Vespiquen swap with Poipole. Another whistle ordered the baby Ultra Beast to fire off a Dragon Pulse at the water-type.

“Phione, swap.” When the Ultra Beast appeared, Rowan issued the command for a change, watching as Milotic took the place at the front of the group. “Give them a song.” Dragon Pulse crashed into the aquatic Pokémon but they seemed undeterred, grace and beauty unable to be shattered by the move.

A soft inhale preceded the violent screech of Disarming Voice, echoing across the arena with the intention of doing damage to the Poipole.
