Just as the water gun leaves her fingertips, Fernando speaks up.[break][break]

It elicits a response in her that she can't identify. Hope? Surprise? Frustration?[break][break]

Her back tenses, she hesitates before glancing back at him. The woman's expression is conflicted, watching him both with wonder and with agitation. Nothing she can identify, nothing she can pin down.[break][break]

The flurry of swift stars result in a fainted Marill. But the rest of his Pokemon retreat immediately after, leaving just her Pokemon beneath the water. At their retreat, her own Pokemon rise to the surface, more than a little bit confused.[break][break]

Stormy steps back and begins to return to the beach, squeezing the damp from her hair. God, she needed a drink.

“EXECUTE.”

Their battle has bought time for his Legendary to return. From beneath the ocean’s depths rises his patron saint: Tapu Fini. While the Pokemon has little regard for human matters, it feeds off his animosity. The fuel for their bond coerces the Pokemon to react and it does so by pulling on the ocean that surrounds them.

Fernando splashes her back with a HYRO VORTEX. Waves on waves of briny ocean water start to spiral into cyclones, leaving spectators in awe, revealing the water Pokemon that call the sea their home. All of it pile up until the Tapu Fini let’s go, dropping a small tsunami onto the beach to really leave her drenched.

Has anyone ever drowned on land before?[break][break]

Because she's pretty sure she just did.[break][break]

Thousands of pounds of salty water pummel her from behind just as she steps onto dry land. The sand gives way and she slips, crashing to the ground and losing purchase on which way was up. It's like someone has dumped a bucket of water on her head, but instead of a bucket it's a waterall- or worse than a waterfall.[break][break]

Honestly, a tsunami is pretty damn accurate.[break][break]

When it finally subsides, Stormy gasps and spits, desperate for air. There is seaweed or other bits of the ocean stuck in her hair and water runs down the length of her arms and legs. While brushing hair out of her eyes and mouth, she turns back to look at Fernando.[break][break]

And then she rises to her feet and walks away. Too many eyes follow her to laugh at her misfortune and Fernando's retaliation. It burns in her chest, uncomfortable.
