jayden's gaze darts towards his weavile as soon as the ice shards fly past him. his gaze is sharp — sharp enough that the pokemon recoils.

[break][break] glancing back towards zac, he smiles apologetically. "sorry. she - "

[break][break] his words are cut off by the other's excitement, an excitement that is enough to surprise jayden as he falls back onto the sand. it's hot underfoot. he jumps back a few steps to put himself in position.

[break][break] "you're very popular," he comments. he knows liam? or is it gavin that he knows? something prickles on his skin — it's only later that jayden recognizes it as curiosity. he's insatiable for it.

[break][break] "do you - " he hesitates. "do you know ji-hoon ki?"

[break][break] even the the name on his tongue sends a prickle of something along his skin, heart stuttering his chest.

[break][break] it's so much so that jayden completely misses the next ball. greg's branches poke against the ball relentlessly, and jayden's head jerks towards it as it lands, spinning into the sand. they missed the point.

[break][break] swallowing, jayden jogs over to the ball. he decides, this time, to lob it gently towards his weavile's way. her claws gleam silver as she uses METAL CLAW to serve the ball back to the other side.

the ball is hit by the pokemon's crabhammer with such a ferocity that it whips the air around them, a gust thrown directly in jayden's face.

[break][break] his hitmontop goes for the dive first, spinning across the sand. however as soon as it's feet touch the edge of the spheal ball, ice explodes across the pokemon and encases him in ice.

[break][break] jayden's gaze flickers with surprise as he looks at the ice sculpture, and his face reflected back against the sparkling hues. he leans over to grab the spheal-ball back in his hand. the pokemon smiles as him blissfully, as if nothing of the sort had happened.

[break][break] "vila, break him out." they could do with one less competitor for now. obediently, the weavile dashes forward and attempts to chip away at the ice with metal claw. meanwhile, jayden tosses the ball above his head and serves.

[break][break] there is something prickling at his subconcious, though he isn't sure what. is it curiousity? he isn't sure if he's met someone quite like Zac Ramsay before. the goals of rocket always tended to be... polarizing.
