"I told you that the other field was the wrong ring," Razz comments to his Meowstic as they arrive to the new part of the beach where they should have been over half hour ago. He was feeling guilty as he was very much a man of punctuality. [break][break]

Salem of course seems to be very nonchalant about it, in a way of trying to get his trainer to just relax. Once he sees the Sootopolis Gym Leader he gives a small wave. "Sorry about that, someone took us to the wrong field," he grumbles down to the cat with him. Though Salem just gives the most angelic look ever. Because him get them lost? NEVER. [break][break]

"Don't encourage him, he's evil," Razz playfully protest. Though with his voice usually always in a series tone it might not have come across as he intended. But Salem's playful reaction as he blows a raspberry at his trainer should make it clear. Salem squishes his cheeks as if to reply to the gym leader. Almost as if communicating, 'hell yeah I am!' Though as people come to realize just who was battling, many were excited to see the pop star and gym leader perform. Razz however was not and found himself hesitating with the crowd. None of his battles thus far had been this big, "Uhh.. sure..." he comments probably a bit too quietly. [Break][break]

Salem takes notice though and decides to take on the battle himself. Less stress for his trainer. The cat brings up a LIGHT SCREEN to show he was ready.

Salem giggled at the surprise he could read off the other trainer like a book. Though while the light screen helps him against Special attacks, he wasn't expecting the ramming. The Meowstic shakes his head almost surprised about the attack, impressed by their speed. Though he wouldn't be caught off guard again. Once more he decides to bring up his defenses a bit more now casting up REFLECT to balance out his defenses. [break][break]

Afterward Salem tries to egg on the balloon pokemon some more, daring them to try again. "Don't get in over your head."

Salem just gives the two a devilish smirk, clearly he was up to something. Sure the Reflect and Light Screen might be predictable but Salem was a defensive kitty. But it doesn't mean he can't be a little shit while being attacked. Even when the other pokemon disappeared. [break][break]

Though having been with the cat long enough Razz knows what Salem is thinking, and knows it wouldn't work. So Razz gives a whistle, forcing the cat to change courses so Salem sets up a SHADOW BALL. But rather than letting it go, he waits for his trainer's direction. Razz would give the direction the very second the balloon showed up before releasing.

There is a startled 'eeep!' that escapes him that causes the Meowstic to quite literally drop the ball. While Salem falls in just to be struck up into the air, his screens helping reduce the damage. The SHADOW BALL would fall on the balloon. Thankfully being a cat meant he always landed on his feet. Salem looks back to Razz saying something, even moving his paws to actually communicate properly. "Because it's a GHOST," Razz simply replies as Salem has a look of realization. Oh there went the previous plan. Though it wasn't going to discourage him. Even with his injuries, so he goes for DISARMING VOICE to try to counter.

Hearing the oran berries Salem can't help but look back at Razz expectantly and the ranger crosses his arms. "Cat you had a slushy earlier, I think you're fine," well it wasn't a no. But Salem going to give him the saddest little cat eyes you ever did see. [break][break]

Well at least until he suddenly felt his strength being zapped from him. Making him almost dizzy, Razz gives a double whistle as warning, as both an order and another to remind him that hey they're in a battle. Salem turns as once more they power up a SHADOW BALL between his ears before shooting. Thankfully the cat didn't rely on his physical strength.

Even with his LIGHT SCREEN down, the PYCHIC doesn't damage Salem much. As unlike the ghost type, psychics resisted themselves. Though the sand that was used to help hit him getting sand in his eyes. What a low blow! It wasn't like he had KEEN EYE for this shit. Salem gives the other a hiss because how dare, but also decides that's enough as he goes toward his trainer and grabs hold of Lapis' pokeball. [break][break]

Now out of the ring he has the Sobble use water to get the sand out of his eyes and fur. "Huh, well guess that means you win," Razz shrugs amused more than anything else. The Rotom Drone announcing the GYM Leaders win.
