Melody had a battle scheduled for someone named Razz Kingsmen, he sounded familiar to her maybe because his name has been all abuzz lately in the league? It didn't really matter regardless as she didn't like to judge a person's character until she got to know them, talk was cheap! Actions were louder! [break][break]

She waltzed up to the area on the beach that was saved for the battle and whistled innocently as she awaited her opponent, eager to see what kind of person he was.

"I told you that the other field was the wrong ring," Razz comments to his Meowstic as they arrive to the new part of the beach where they should have been over half hour ago. He was feeling guilty as he was very much a man of punctuality. [break][break]

Salem of course seems to be very nonchalant about it, in a way of trying to get his trainer to just relax. Once he sees the Sootopolis Gym Leader he gives a small wave. "Sorry about that, someone took us to the wrong field," he grumbles down to the cat with him. Though Salem just gives the most angelic look ever. Because him get them lost? NEVER. [break][break]

"oh my god! What a cutie!" she smiles at the precious little angel right before her. "Don't worry about it! The wait was worth it to see such an adorable little baby." she said crouching down to wave at salem properly, wanting to run up and hug the lil creature but knowing she had a job to do first. "Oh right, we gotta get underway huh?" She says with a small grin on her face as she was excited to see just what exactly this guy was made of! Melody tossed out a pokeball assuming that her opponent would be that Meowstic so she chose a pokemon she's had for quite some time! "Drifblim!" she calls out as her hot air balloon pokemon spun in a circular motion to flourish itself. [break][break]

"Are you ready?!" she shouts to the crowd excitedly "Let's not make this show boring for them alright?" she says turning her gaze back to razz

"Don't encourage him, he's evil," Razz playfully protest. Though with his voice usually always in a series tone it might not have come across as he intended. But Salem's playful reaction as he blows a raspberry at his trainer should make it clear. Salem squishes his cheeks as if to reply to the gym leader. Almost as if communicating, 'hell yeah I am!' [break][break]

Though as people come to realize just who was battling, many were excited to see the pop star and gym leader perform. Razz however was not and found himself hesitating with the crowd. None of his battles thus far had been this big, "Uhh.. sure..." he comments probably a bit too quietly. [Break][break]

Salem takes notice though and decides to take on the battle himself. Less stress for his trainer. The cat brings up a LIGHT SCREEN to show he was ready.

Melody liked Salem's enthusiasm! Drifblim didn't typically perform with Melody but that didn't matter, the two shared a strong groove with one another and what else was needed besides that?! Salem went rather quickly and caught the pair off guard. [break][break]

Was it a prankster? Melody was unsure since she wasn't familiar with the pokemon but that was one speedy set up! no matter! She could adapt to situations on the fly as she did a little dance move in time with drifblim as it mimicked her movements as best it could! "Tailwind and slam into it drifblim!" she called out as a ghostly wail from the balloon rang out and a sudden breeze following behind drifblim shot it towards the cat [break][break]

Once close enough, drifblim would spin wildly trying to gather enough force to punch poor meowstic.

Salem giggled at the surprise he could read off the other trainer like a book. Though while the light screen helps him against Special attacks, he wasn't expecting the ramming. The Meowstic shakes his head almost surprised about the attack, impressed by their speed. Though he wouldn't be caught off guard again. Once more he decides to bring up his defenses a bit more now casting up REFLECT to balance out his defenses. [break][break]

Afterward Salem tries to egg on the balloon pokemon some more, daring them to try again. "Don't get in over your head."

"Reflect and Light screen eh? Oldest combo in the book." she says as she puts her finger under her chin wondering what she could really do to try and counteract this. However, did she really have to? She did have an option but she had to save it for later when it would be actually worth while. "Drifblim! Since he likes tricks so much let's see if he likes it! Phantom force!" [break][break]

Drifblim opened a purple portal behind it and vanished from sight suddenly. She giggled herself as she watched to try and see what exactly razz and his partner would do to deal with a dilemma like this. She in truth however was just trying to bide time for the defensive moves to wear off.

Salem just gives the two a devilish smirk, clearly he was up to something. Sure the Reflect and Light Screen might be predictable but Salem was a defensive kitty. But it doesn't mean he can't be a little shit while being attacked. Even when the other pokemon disappeared. [break][break]

Though having been with the cat long enough Razz knows what Salem is thinking, and knows it wouldn't work. So Razz gives a whistle, forcing the cat to change courses so Salem sets up a SHADOW BALL. But rather than letting it go, he waits for his trainer's direction. Razz would give the direction the very second the balloon showed up before releasing.

A shadow ball huh? Melody was excited to see who would win out first in terms of speed, the shadow ball or drifblim? After a few moments the phantom force portal opened up underneath Salem and threaten to swallow it whole. However instead drifblim dashed out from underneath, sending salem flying into the air as the tailwind followed drifblim inside the phantom force and gave it that extra boost of speed and force. [break][break]

"Never thought he'd come from underneath right?" she laughed wondering if meowstic would be entertained from that tricky little move. She was obsessed with him.

There is a startled 'eeep!' that escapes him that causes the Meowstic to quite literally drop the ball. While Salem falls in just to be struck up into the air, his screens helping reduce the damage. The SHADOW BALL would fall on the balloon. Thankfully being a cat meant he always landed on his feet. Salem looks back to Razz saying something, even moving his paws to actually communicate properly. [break][break]

"Because it's a GHOST," Razz simply replies as Salem has a look of realization. Oh there went the previous plan. Though it wasn't going to discourage him. Even with his injuries, so he goes for DISARMING VOICE to try to counter.

The shadow ball flew straight up alongside meowstic, but then it actually fell straight back down onto drifblim's head much to it's displeasure and then right after that got slammed with a disarming voice. He looked over to Melody with a small tear forming on it's face as he got hit unexpectedly and twice! It seems like both trainers pretty much babied their pokemon "Dont worry you'll be ok!" she said cheerily "I'll give ya plenty of Oran berries that you like so much!" she told him which seemed to have lit a fire in it's belly. [break][break]

Drifblim perked up at the thought of eating a bunch of Oran berries and became excited and hungry at the same time! So he opted to try and eat meowstic! Spiritually! Drifblim attempts to use strength sap on meowstic to restore it's health and satiate it's hunger.

Hearing the oran berries Salem can't help but look back at Razz expectantly and the ranger crosses his arms. "Cat you had a slushy earlier, I think you're fine," well it wasn't a no. But Salem going to give him the saddest little cat eyes you ever did see. [break][break]

Well at least until he suddenly felt his strength being zapped from him. Making him almost dizzy, Razz gives a double whistle as warning, as both an order and another to remind him that hey they're in a battle. Salem turns as once more they power up a SHADOW BALL between his ears before shooting. Thankfully the cat didn't rely on his physical strength.

Oh my fuckin GOD, salem and Razz's relationship was the perfect ideal partnership. If he were to challenge her gym and witnessed this, she'd immediately decide to let him have the badge and just battle for fun. But sadly it didn't seem like razz wanted to badge? She was unsure but maybe she could contact him later? She couldn't afford to not pay attention during this battle cause in that time Salem managed to launch another shadow ball. [break][break]

The shadow ball collided with the ghost type earning another painful wail from the ghost type, who instead of being upset and crying at melody this time instead was angry at the psychic type! How dare he! It inflated itself with extra wind to puff itself up to appear intimidating. Lets see how he likes getting hit with his own typing! "Drifblim! Psychic." as it's eyes flashed pink and grabbed a bunch of sand in the area and threw pellets made it it at salem to damage the cat.

Even with his LIGHT SCREEN down, the PYCHIC doesn't damage Salem much. As unlike the ghost type, psychics resisted themselves. Though the sand that was used to help hit him getting sand in his eyes. What a low blow! It wasn't like he had KEEN EYE for this shit. Salem gives the other a hiss because how dare, but also decides that's enough as he goes toward his trainer and grabs hold of Lapis' pokeball. [break][break]

Now out of the ring he has the Sobble use water to get the sand out of his eyes and fur. "Huh, well guess that means you win," Razz shrugs amused more than anything else. The Rotom Drone announcing the GYM Leaders win.
