At this point, Adrian knew he wouldn't make placements, but there was no way he was giving up. Against all hope, he signed up for match after match, battling opponents of mixed backgrounds. It was all invaluable experience, however bittersweet.

"Hey there," he greeted them, trying to sound chipper and not crestfallen.

He looks defeated and Lilith can definitely feel the hope fading from his mind. Perhaps, he's faced one too many losses thus far and he's on a downward spiral, performing worse with each defeat.

Nevertheless, Lilith isn't there to play therapist or to cheer for him. She's just here because Hex insisted on having a go at the people present. Nodding in acknowledgement, she gestures to the arena and allows the Mimikyu to hop off her shoulders.

"Alright." Adrian unleashed a Sableye as his choice contender, eyeing the lady warily. The Mimikyu hops off her shoulder in response, and already he tastes metal on his tongue. His bruxism was running rampant from all the disappointment.

"Sableye, you know what to do," he insisted, not wanting to give away the game to his opponent. Though perhaps it hadn't understood, it dipped low to the ground and approached Mimikyu. As it got close it would sink into the ground, melding into the opponent's shadow, hoping to catch it unawares with a sneak attack.

[attr="class","hanatext"]A Sneak Attack, huh? Lilith's not good at battling herself, but she trusts Hex's instincts when it comes to throwing down. As the Sableye sinks into the shadows, the Mimimyu is there to Mimic it, melting away from sight as he readies himself to strike back.

Both pokemon execute a similar maneuver, but Mimikyu's DISGUISE gives it the upper hand, though its head slumps over to the side and throws off its balance. "Power Gem." A projection of energy erupts from its eyes, made manifest by the crystals acting as a focus for its latent power. Whether the light can purge the darkness that is the eldritch horror of Mimikyu's true form remains to be seen, but Adrian remains vigilant as he spectates the proceedings. Besides, his other options are less promising.

If this didn't work, he would have to throw in the metaphorical towel yet again.

"Really?" Why would they... never mind. Sableye recoils in fear, astonished by the attack, but finding the attack doesn't devastate it in the way it worried. This moment could offer them a moment to turn things around. "Recover!"

Replenishing its lost health it digs up handfuls of sand, chewing on them to RECOVER. The silica is refined and pressured between gnashing teeth, forming a suitable substitute for the crystals it typically ingests for nourishment.

Mangled by an outreaching claw and tossed aside as vermin, Sableye struggles to its feet but finds the strength, brooding over the exchange. Though its power wanes from the PLAY ROUGH, it LASHES OUT with renewed fury, swiping, scratching and shredding the tattered cloth of its disguise. Its aura is emboldened by Adrian's, and Mimikyu is unable to resist the darkness behind its malice.

It is a frenzied exchange that leaves Sableye winded, and with any luck, the enemy reeling from the many lacerations marring its figure.

[attr="class","hanatext"]Sableye might be spurred on by its trainer, but Hex is a creature of violent habit. Battle calls to him, the scent of rust and crunch of bones still embedded deep in his mind. Anger begets anger and the Mimikyu trembles through the countless marks left upon his cloak.

Even if he hurts, he's drawn in by the thirst for blood, slamming the Sableye with a Wood Hammer.

In its frenzy it doesn't guard against the walloping blow, sent careening backwards by the attack. Even as it clambers to its hands and knees it clutches at its side where the mallet connected, coughing up bits of crystal. After a few labored breaths it begins scrambling forward on all fours, closing the gap between it and Mimikyu once more.

Skulking across the ground it can see Mimikyu looming high and mighty, and so it easily DETECTS the incoming attack, rolling over on its side to avoid the swiping blow. When it passes the Sableye continues clawing forward, inch by inch, frantically pursuing the pokemon with a vendetta. Its eyes glitter with malice, rattling in place as it struggles and strains itself to keep going.
