This time, he was waiting for the challengers to approach him, mostly because he was starting to get cramps. Evident from the string of losses he'd experienced, it also just wasn't worth it. So instead he was getting some much needed rest and relaxation, eyeing up the passersby, hopeful for any challengers coming his way.

But until then, he'd sip his lemonade in relative peace. "Aaaaahhhh..."

Loosen up a little. He can almost hear the words of his seniors echoing in his ears as he slips through the crowd. Even if his duty is light, he still can't help but feel a little sense of anxiety creeping under his skin when he remains idle.

Adrian leans forward, sitting up from his prone position and assessing the trainer. "Sure. What kinda battle you lookin' for?" It didn't really matter to him; Adrian just wanted to know what sort of pokemon to withdraw from his PC. In the meantime he stood up, beginning to walk towards an empty stretch of sand.

" 'M Adrian, just so you know. And you are...?" His ears trained on the answer.

"Lykaios." The introductions are kept as brief as possible, his social inexperience kicking in as he calls upon his Ninetales. "Just a single battle, probably. A quick match."

The vixen preens and draws herself to her full height, her tails gracefully swaying in the wind as she follows after her trainer. She's won one match thus far and simply wishes to keep the ball rolling for as long as possible. But Lykaios knows better than to keep fixated on the taste of previous victories, clearing his mind and prepping himself to act as her common sense.

"Hmm... My Appletun." After digging through his phone and withdrawing the pokemon from his storage, Adrian brandished its pokeball and sent it hurtling, unleashing an excitable apple pie dragon onto the field. What looked like ears peeled back and lifted up, revealing a set of eerie looking eyes. Or maybe those were seeds?

"Alright Appletun: LEECH SEED." Spitting them one by one, Appletun ejected a barrage of apple seeds that quickly sprouted roots, entangling the enemy with their sheer volume. Where they touched they drained the host of vitality, causing the weeds to fruit with small berries that Appletun would be sure to consume for nourishment.

An Appletun... He's neither at an advantage nor a disadvantage with this matchup. So it all comes down to whether Yuna is ready to outperform her opponent. As the seeds embed themselves in her fur and she yowls in discomfort, the Ninetales gathers heat and faces the dragon, spewing a Flamethrower in response.

Appletun is ASTONISHED by the display while slowly crawling through the metaphorical trenches, gobbling up the fruits of its labor as it approaches the enemy. Its undaunted approach inspires a level of surprise, perhaps, as it draws on an inner strength that can't be seen on the surface. "That's it, keep 'er goin'."

Yuna barely flinches as the Appletun approaches, her tails lashing out behind her as she circles around the dragon to keep a distance. Her gaze flicks between her opponent and her trainer, a cunning mind cycling through all her options and catching the signals that Lykaios slips her.

The berries are in sight. Sweet, succulent berries. Fresh for the gobbling. It just needs to reach Ninetales, and it would, PROTECTING itself through means that weren't apparent to the naked eye. All in the name of berries. Because berries were life.

Berries, in the other direction, grab Appletun's attention. It isn't sure how they came to be there. Perhaps the odd blast from Ninetales scattered them, yes? Appletun doesn't question what it sees, trusting in its senses. Crawling towards the wrong end of the arena, it leaves itself vulnerable. "Appletun, no! You're... Forget it."

The poor thing was taking bites out of imaginary berries. But it was happy to be under the delusion, and Adrian couldn't help but be jealous.

For a moment, Lykaios can't help but feel a sense of admiration for this Appletun's resilience. To pursue the delicacy that it loved, to be so enchanted by the taste that it would happily chase after its delusions.

He asks, but he feels as if he should already know the answer. As his Ninetales turns her attention to the Appletun and prepares to set it ablaze, she is stopped by a whistle and directed towards the berries instead. They're grown from her vitality and to stop it from blossoming, she needs to burn it by its roots. The heat pools in her mouth, a raging Inferno dancing along the web and reducing the Appletun's dream to ashes.

"I'unno, I usually just leave him at Uncle Bob's." Appletun was a GLUTTON, so this wasn't off base, though it usually preferred food prepared in advance. As the Appletun chases down the magicked berries, it tries to snatch them up, gobbling down on what should be a natural delicacy... only for it to bite down on air. What is this devilry?!

It tries again, failing once more, before turning to scowl at the Ninetales. A stubby foreleg lifts, balling into a fist that shakes angrily at the vixen before it begins hiking it back to the fox. As it approaches at a snail's pace, Ninetales commits a war crime and burns all the ripened berries. Its eye-flap-things flip up and it looks appalled, before it tucks its head down and begins rolling aggressively towards it.

When it gets close enough, it unfolds itself, raising its stubby fist once more. It seems a passive gesture of expression up until it SUCKER PUNCHES them across the face, though it's mostly symbolic, in retribution for them doing such a thing.

He's met his fair share of triggered Snorlaxs but he can't say he's run into enraged Appletuns before. As the Appletun approaches his Ninetales, he swears that he can feel the earth trembling, the atmospheric temperature raising by at least 2 degrees.

Yuna panics just slightly, gathering heat once more as she prepares to burn her opponent. But just as it stands before her, the Appletun fucking pops off, punching her right in the face and throwing her right off balance. Even then, she can't help but mald at the fact that it's all due to some berries, that the attention it's giving her right now is only due to the fact that she burnt its food.

She barks, unleashing a wave of Fire that Blasts it back.

Screw these berries! It doesn't even know if these berries taste better roasted!!
