She seemed somewhat enthusiastic, at least that is what he garnered from her smile, and he chuckled easily. The inspection of his car began, and the one on hers. There were other racers whose vehicles were being inspected as well, and he had to admit this was almost like a scenario out of a movie. The only thing that was missing was the music, though he could just play that as he raced, after all to the people who were looking at him, he was nothing more than just another rich boy, who was out for a joy ride.

"Don't worry, all we have to do is win, and this is only the preliminary to see if we can qualify for the main race. This shouldn't be all that hard." He seemed perfectly at ease for some reason, though it would be anyone's guess as to why he wasn't more worried.

The cars were indeed being inspected the same way each one, it only took a few minutes before they each got their keys back, and they were given the go ahead, but they still had a bit of time before the actual race took place.

"Don't worry about it, besides cars are replaceable, people aren't. Though I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, if you have to choose between yourself, and the car, let the car die. I can afford another one." He stated simply, of course she wouldn't need to be told that, but some people were more stubborn than others.

"So do you think the Drift King will show up?" From the reports that he had gotten it appeared that the man they were after was a bald man, with a slightly pale complexion. He wore a black tank top, and jeans mostly, and he was the most skilled driver in this area now.

There was enough time for idle chatter, the preliminary race was about to begin, and with that they would have to start their race, and go from there. If they won this, then they got an invite to the main race, and from there it would just be racing against the DK himself, or so he hoped. After all these prelims were hard enough as it were.

"Well I'm sure he'll come out, but it looks like time to chit chat is over...Shall we go take our marks?" He asked her with a gentle smile before going over to his car. Patting the hood of it for good luck he took his place behind the wheel. Of course he didn't know how they were going to stay in contact during the race, he didn't know if she had a HoloWatch accessory like he did, so they could talk while they drived. It was to late for that now.

"Well let's hope that Walter's lessons sank in at least a little bit." He mused to himself doing his best to shake off the nerves.

The race track was a simple one, they would do 3 loops around the track, and the first to cross the finish line won, they were given a simple map of the track, and apparently there were others lined along to make sure no one got off the track.

The moment the race started he kicked the car into gear, as much as he would have liked to check on the person that he was partnered with. When you were going at something like this, you have to be entirely focused because if you weren't, well then you died. Amor very much liked living, so he put the pedal to the metal, literally. Shifting just as Walter had taught him as he sped up attempting to get to at least one of the front positions so that he, and Sage could get into the main race, and meet the Drift King. Though he assumed they wouldn't race, they would just attempt to apprehend him perhaps. The specifics could be worked out later, everything around him was becoming a blur, and he wondered how Walter had learned how to do this, though he knew his butlers history was something of a mystery he had only been loyal to him.

Now wasn't the time to worry about that as Amor had to slightly adjust the wheel because he almost crashed into someone. Groaning he didn't like this as much as he thought he would. His stomach was in knots, but he was just breathing deeply doing his best to stay calm. He hoped that Sage was faring better than he was at least in staying calm. She seemed far more composed a person than he was use to dealing with, and it was a nice change of pace. How he wished he had given her a HoloWatch so they could talk while they drove, but that would have probably ended up with them both crashing. So it was probably for the best.

"Walter if I survive this...I'm giving you a raise." He said to himself as he shifted up into fifth gear letting off the clutch, and slamming into the gas pedal at the same time.

The race was eventful, as they finished the last two laps, Amor didn't win, or even get into the top three, but it didn't matter as the DK had shown up anyways to pick the ones who had caught his eye. And from there the rest was history as eventually the League would show up. With Sagira having located him, they simply had to be sly about how they got the rest of their colleagues over to arrest the man. It was a fairly simple mission, with a simple out come though racing the cars had been a lot of fun. Perhaps he would get to do it again.
