[break][break] despite the heat, however, he still wearing hoenn star tournament themed merchandise. this time, he is donning shorts with Martín del Mar face in chibi-form onto it, and a t-shirt with the face of Zac Ramsay plastered on the front of it. it reads in loud, bold and obnoxious text: 'REMEMBER TO CHARJA-UP WITH CHARJA-COLA!'

Coming back for another battle in this hot summer heat feels like walking right into the frying pan. Luka feels that she can already predict how this battle will turn out- it doesn't feel great to lose, but that's the only way to toughen up herself and her team, right? She can only hope her precious babies aren't too disheartened by it. [break][break] She appears on the field like a flower petal carried on the wind, all delicate steps and soft pastels and fluffy, rustling skirts. Her opponent is more, erm...ostentatiously dressed- Luka is too kind to call it garish, even in her head. [break][break] "Hello!" She gives a polite wave and sunny smile, accompanied by matching greetings from the three Pokemon she's brought along. "I'm...going first? Okay, um, thank you! We'll do our best!" [break][break] It's probably a bad idea to lead with her strongest Pokemon. But strategy is still something Luka's still learning as she stars with Plum, gesturing for her Musharna to take the lead. "O-okay, Plum! Let's start off strong, yeah? Um...use Psychic!" A blast of telekinetic energy is sent towards her opponent's Banette, and Luka bites her lip and hopes that it lands. eventually, his opponent appears. it's a pink-haired girl that jayden doesn't recognize, though it shouldn't be a surprise considering he didn't know many of the participants. "my name's michail volkov," he introduces himself politely.

[break][break] the battle begins and immediately, the float Musharna sends a powerful blast of psychic energy towards them. "phantom force!" he orders, and sure enough a portal warps in front of him. the shadowy energy swallows the psychic energy to another dimension, and the banette darts forward with her hands behind him. sparks of electricity fly from her in a shockwave towards the psychic type.

Woah. This guy is the real deal! Luka blinks in surprise as Plum's psychic attack vanishes without a trace...how did they do that? Plum seems just as surprised as her trainer and takes the brunt force of the shock wave, electricity crackling around her round purple body. Though the dreamy tapir is bulky enough to withstand the hit, Luka is sure she can't take much more than that...but she doesn't want her team to go down too quickly! Their opponent is powerful and creative and she wants to learn as much as she can from this battle. [break][break] "That...that was, wow! Ah- oh! Wait, sorry! My name is Luka! I never- oh gosh, wait, that's not important right now! What I mean is, erm...Bonbon! You're up, so...s-so let's use Flatter!" It seems like a good idea- this opponent is strong, so maybe disorienting them a bit will give her a slight advantage. Her Buneary squeaks excitedly at Michail's Weavile, cheering her on for the flattering effect. It's definitely an adorable performance...hopefully it'll work! vila has always been an active battler. it's no surprise that she is eager for a fight, claws slashing against each other like two swords ready to fight. what she is not expecting, however, is the pokemon squeaking excitedly.

It worked? [break][break] Oh yay, it worked! Bonbon dances around a little more at her success while Luka flashes her a smile and a happy thumbs up. Things aren't going terribly...she feels a little better about her prospects now! But Bonbon's turn is over now, right? Luka turns to Sugar, who's busy preening herself in front of Michail's Dragonair. "Let's keep this up, Sugar! Use swift!" The Eevee stops her preening and makes a show of the move, waving her tail dramatically before unleashing a burst of bright stars at her opponent. [break][break] jayden cross

"Sugar! Hurry, get out of the way!" But the command comes too late. Even if it hadn't, the likelihood of her Eevee escaping this twister is slim to none. Though Sugar tries to scamper away the twister sucks her up, hitting her with not only the dragon type move, but her own attack! Sugar is barely hanging on by the end of it, dizzy and staggering and looking distinctly ruffled. [break][break] Gosh...she really can't keep up with these kinds of moves. Luka hesitates a far longer than she should, teeth worrying her bottom lip as she stares at Plum next. "Um, erm..." What should she do now? Any move of hers is just going to get eaten up by this Banette again, right? "Plum, um...okay, o-okay! Let's try Hypnosis!" Maybe she can try and put it out of commission this way? Okay, okay! That takes care of that, at least for now. Luka's heart is racing, but she takes a few deep breaths in. It's hard not to think of her battles as futile, since her skills aren't quite up to snuff. But she has to do her best for the sake of her team...she can't have a defeatist attitude about it! [break][break] "Bonbon! Let's, um...okay! Double kick!" Another straightforward move- she isn't skilled enough to come up with strategic combinations. [break][break] luka chêne 's wish comes too late. the pokemon is indeed able to shake it off, and blinks blearily just as buneary comes racing for her. she slashes her arms in a downward cross, using ice shard to try to freeze the other pokemon before they get too close.

Weavile moves almost faster than Luka can blink. Somehow her attack manages to reach Bonbon before the little rabbit can manage her attack, slashing at her with freezing claws and daggers of ice. Thrown off her rhythm by the impact, the first of Bonbon's kicks misses wildly, but the other is at least able to connect. [break][break] As for the next in rotation...Sugar really isn't looking good. Luka chews on her lip again. She'd like to recall her but knows that her Eevee, proudly stubborn, won't want to go down without a fight. "Sugar...do you think you can manage a take down?" Just as she predicts, Sugar huffs and immediately charges, using her remaining strength for the all-out attack. And that recoil is all that it takes- Luka recalls her Eevee with a resigned smile, patting the love ball fondly before she slips it safely into her bag. "Eh?" Luka blinks. Her opponent doesn't seem very chatty- she's a little surprised. "Oh...thank you! We're all a little new at this...it's kind of obvious, right? B-but, um, we're doing our best!" She laughs softly, the sound of windchimes on a spring breeze, and her cheeks pinken. [break][break] Ah- she can't be getting distracted! Right...who's next, again? Luka turns to her Musharna, thankfully paired with a sleeping opponent. "Mmm...dream eater, Plum!" Plum's soft pink dream mist wafts over to the ghost type in an attempt to engulf and consume her dreams. This isn't like the first time when Luka failed miserably, trying to use the move on a conscious opponent- though there's every possibility the Banette wakes up first. [break][break] jayden cross
