Successfully having found lunch after his last battle, Bo made his way to the next with the remnants of some sort of festival food in his hands, still devouring even as he walked up.

“Hey. Name’s Bo.”

A pokeball was thrown towards the field, and Golem appeared. As his favorite, she'd also been his most-used this tournament.

“Good luck!”

Bo was ready. His attention had streamlined: get through the last battles and get this thing over with so he could find Roman.

“Nice to meet you Luka! And Plum!” Golem was just Golem, and always had been.

Plum the Musharna tossed out would surely prove to be a challenging match—psychic-types always were. Bo watched it carefully, trying to decide if Golem might need instruction or not.

Instead of making the usual call, he let her do her thing.

She decided on the usual anyways, scattering STEALTH ROCK across the field—levitating stones which would prove difficult to maneuver through without causing harm.

Oh...this was different. Luka and her team were from from the level where they could do things without commands. It was honestly very cool that Bo and his Golem shared that kind of bond...it gave her something to aspire to! [break][break] Plum hovered in the air around the stones, unmoving as she eyed them warily. They'd never dealt with hazardous terrain like this before...Luka wasn't sure what to do, or what would happen if they bumped into the rocks, so she kept her Musharna in one place for now."Plum, let's try something new!" This might be a gamble, but... "Use future sight!" A slight pink flash was all that announced the attack. Luka hoped that the rest of the battle would be distracting enough for her opponents to forget it was coming! [break][break] boruta maher

This Musharna had been the first not to charge right into the STEALTH ROCK. Bo smirked, wondering if they’d need to cut the distance. FUTURE SIGHT would prove troublesome for them soon, but not for now!

Again, Golem knew what to do. It wasn’t so much telepathic as it was trust, and lots of training. Bo didn’t always know what the rock monster might do, but he could had faith in her wit and sheer strength, and knew her patterns.

And, they both tended to do things a certain way.

Stones and pebbles and whatever other rocks they could find were hoisted out of the ground amidst the already levitating others, and hurled towards their opponents in a powerful ROCK THROW.

Oh dear. Plum was trapped between a rock and a hard place- quite literally! In trying to avoid the rock throw she would certainly run into some of the floating debris, but doing nothing would render her a sitting duck. Luka chewed on her bottom lip, trying to think of a way around this, but came up empty. And the longer she spent puzzling over it, the more harm her Pokemon was in! [break][break] "T-try to get out of the way if you can!" But the command came late and it was impossible to avoid the entirety of that rock throw. And Luka had been right- Plum bumped into some of the stealth rocks in her attempt to evade that attack. "Um! O-okay, wait...let's focus! Use Moonblast!" Luka had hoped the glittering attack might also help blast away a few of the rocks, but since it was aimed directly at the Golem, it only managed to blow a few pebbles away. Their strategy seemed to be working well so far—but Golem was hit squarely with MOONBLAST, and it sent it toppling over. What a hard hit!

“Golem, shake it off!”

She was definitely capable. He knew that much. She hadn’t even really needed his encouragement. In moments, she was back on her feet, clawing through the sand and through the rocks in the air to get to their opponent. If it wouldn’t close the distance, they would!

If Plum didn’t get out of the way, she’d be hit hard with Golem’s DOUBLE EDGE.

Was Plum's attack really that powerful? [break][break] For a long time, Luka had assumed her untrained team was the same as she was; just as softhearted and weak. But this tournament was slowly showing her one thing: her Pokemon were more powerful on her own than she gave them credit for. Even without much experience under their belts they had done well...perhaps she really was the only one holding them back. Luka continued to chew on her bottom lip, fingers twisting into her skirt. This was not the right time to be second guessing herself, and yet she was momentarily frozen as she tried to come up with a way for Plum to counter this attack. [break][break] She was too slow. Plum took the matter into her own hands (so to speak), trying to hover up above the rocks where the Golem couldn't reach her. The damage from the stealth rocks would be far less than taking an attack like that head on! But unfortunately, she didn't move out of the way fast enough- the blow she sustained wasn't head-on at least, but enough to send the dreamy little tapir flying backwards. Some of the DOUBLE EDGE was taken back in damages, but it only egged on the Golem seemingly. While she prepared another charge, Bo decided to step in. “Golem, take it out of the air!”

Clipping it from below with some sort of ground attack would not be good enough, surely. Even more stones went to pummel the poor psychic-type with another ROCK THROW.

Luka had really dropped the ball this time around. Poor Plum was navigating a minefield in an attempt to evade the attacks, getting battered and bashed around in the process. "Use Psychic this time!" Luka called out, "Try and get some of those rocks out of the way!" Plum did manage to clear a path of the floating obstacles at least, but still took more damage from the rock throw. She was hovering only a few feet above the ground at this point, clearly exhausted.[break][break] That was about it for her poor tapir. Luka was already prepared to withdraw her, when a flashing purple light erupted in the center of the field. The future sight finally took effect! [break][break] boruta maher

Just as it seemed the battle was going to come to a close, with their opponent getting caught in their proverbial web of rocks, something happened. Bo’s eyes went a little wide, as his Golem was sent exploding back across the arena by an incredible force which blew away most of the rocks levitating about as well.

“Woah! Didn’t expect that!”

Golem groaned, righting itself.

“Shake it off, girl.”

She did just that, charging in and hoping the Musharna might’ve come within reach enough for a BULLDOZE to be effective.

Bo's Golem might have been able to shake off the future sight, but Luka didn't think her Musharna could take another brutal hit like that. She was already battered from multiple attacks and the chip damage from hazards- just hanging in there for as long as she had was admirable enough! The bulldoze would certainly hit, and it just did, but Luka withdrew her Musharna before any more significant harm could befall her. [break][break] "You did an amazing job," she whispered fondly to Plum's love ball before she stowed it away. It was true- all the faults in their battling had been on her part, her inability to think quickly enough on her feet and her tendency to be struck frozen with nerves. "Thank you for the battle," she called across to her opponent. "The teamwork the two of you have...the, um, t-the bond with your Pokemon...it's really incredible!" [break][break] boruta maher

The Musharna looked as though it were ready to crumble under the force of the BULLDOZE—but it was returned just in time to save it, meaning Golem had won. She stopped, skidding in the sand without anything to run into to, and nearly falling over, but catching herself in the end. Realizing her victory, she gave out a happy roar.

Bo grinned, not immediately returning her. This time, she could bask in the sun and good spirits for a bit. They were done.

Looking over to his opponent, he nodded. “Thanks! We’ve been together a while.” And through a lot. Years, and lots of blood—way more than these arenas would see during the tournament. At least, that vicious life was behind them.

“That FUTURE SIGHT really caught us off guard!”

"Ehh, is that so?" Luka glanced down at her bag where her Musharna now resided, getting some well-deserved rest. "Plum and I have been together for a long time too. But, um...well, we just started battling together, actually." Luka laughed sheepishly and rubbed at the back of her neck. "So we're still trying to get the hang of things!" [break][break] She should really consider herself lucky to have had such a cushy lifestyle up until now- not that she'd know their lives were anything to be compared.
