rarely did sam make his way to lavaridge. it wasn't that he had anything against the place, he just rarely took breaks and even more rarely sought out the woman who lived there.

luckily, he'd sent a message ahead through social media telling stormy that he'd captured a heatran within mt. pyre and felt she would be more suited to determine the creatures state of mind more than even he was.

even as he walked into the warmth of the city, and to the place of meeting dictated within their texts, he could feel the restlessness of the capsule containing the heatran he'd encountered on his mountain.

yes, his. as in, possessive. he's put a lot of work into the place and he would like to think, having it passed down to him by the previous owner, that it was his.

no biggie.

either way, he waited patiently for stormy to show, simply taking in a deep breath and slowly releasing it.

Stormy certainly has her hands full lately. What with juggling the recovery of Mt. Chimney and the Groudon situation, relocating and rehabilitating wild and angsty Heatran and stepping up to train a Zarude and Zeraora, it was a wonder the woman even had time to spare.[break][break]

But she was nothing if not dedicated and stubborn. Oh, and confident. Definitely confident.[break][break]

She had been keeping an eye on the excursion sights where the Heatran had originally shown up. What with all of the fuss on Mt. Chimney and Groudon's tantrum, it seemed more had dug themselves out from beneath the molten earth to rear their ugly heads.[break][break]

Not that Stormy found them ugly. Quite the opposite, really.[break][break]

"Hey!"[break][break]

The woman eases into a jog as she nears, hurried in her approach in case she's kept him waiting. She sports a glowing smile and a small wave, though her expression quickly turns questioning and concerned given the man's nerves - or at least it would if he were obviously anxious. If not, she appears none-the-wiser about it.[break][break]

"Everything okay? You sounded a little urgent over text. Though I suppose that could just be me reading it with more emphasis than intended. I hate texting."[break][break]

A lie. She hates talking on the phone worse.[break][break]

"But also just in general - Heatran are pretty crazy to tackle and capture. You never cease to amaze me, man."

the eager smile, the warm wave. the woman's lavaridge incarnate and anybody who says otherwise is blind or lying. possibly cross.

she's intimidating, in that sort of way that makes somebody want to learn about her more. she's seen through his nerves and to reveal what's causing them, sam reaches into his satchel and removes a restless capsule.

"luckily i didn't have to physically tackle her myself. i left that up to my pokémon."

it's a joke, one given with a light smile and his hand extended, restless capsule moving within his fingertips.

"i won't use the words 'i'm not cut out to raise her.' i could manage, but i feel she'll be a much happier heatran in your far more experienced and capable hands."

Home is where you put down roots, and it's clear that Stormy found her home here in Lavaridge. She radiates warm energy and positivity and confidence, enough to rub off on someone else without issue. [break][break]

As she comes to a stop in front of him, begs for an answer - Sam retrieves a pokeball from his bag. It literally jumps and trembles in his hand, begging to be unleashed. Her eyes widen in surprise, drawing back up to meet the man's gaze.[break][break]

"Yeah... wouldn't recommend that. Definitely glad the Pokemon handled it."[break][break]

She winks, he extends his hand with the pokeball, and she tentatively reaches for it. Once in her hand the ball seems to shake harder, anticipation leaving even her breathless. For a long moment, she is captured by the energy the capsule gives off.[break][break]

"That's... so nice of you to say."[break][break]

He quite literally leaves her speechless, a warm blush flushing against her cheeks at his compliment slash announcement. [break][break]

"Are you sure? I mean - you're training the legendary Keldeo, aren't you? I'm sure you have it in you to offer Heatran a wonderful home in capable hands."

times like these make sam nervous. not because she's flushed and looking at him. not because she's offering him niceties. but because he sometimes forgets that he has a fucking legendary in his arsenal. not that keldeo is inexperienced or in any way weak. the creature, much like himself, has clearly been through war. traumatized and in need of a friend.

much like himself.

he's just embarrassed even stormy silph knows he's bonded with the creature. it was something he didn't advertise, but had somehow gotten out.

"keldeo is a different sort of training altogether. in need of a friend. this one seems to just want to battle. and while i do battle from time to time, it's scared the majority of the ghouls out of hiding and into haunting the mountain again."

in other words, it was in fact a nuisance and sam didn't have 'time' to be training it. so he assumed. too busy getting the ghouls to calm down. too busy busting ghosts, so to speak.

Being a prominent member of the league, actively participating in the event, and coincidentally being in the crowd when the winners of the Hoenn Star Tournament were announced lead to her knowledge of the man's legendary Pokemon encounter.[break][break]

And if she hadn't been there, the rumor tree spread far and wide.[break][break]

"Ahh.. an angsty one, huh? Well, we can't have ghouls and ghosties terrorizing the mountain, can we? Imagine all of the poor old folk just trying to lay down some flowers. Yeesh."

Stormy offers a smile, tossing the ball up in the air to catch it with a resounding smack.[break][break]

"No problem, man! I do sort of for the most part know what I'm doing with these guys. I have a couple already. They seem to enjoy hanging out with Moltres on Mt. Chimney. They're a fan of the hot-springs too, but they seem to like mudbaths in lava instead. Lavabaths?"[break][break]

She taps her chin thoughtfully.

sam confirmed the word, though it might not have existed, he thought it made the best sense in the way she was using it. specifically this flow of conversation.

"i'm relieved. it sounds as if the wild thing will have far more fun with the others under your care."

he really just hadn't had a clue what on earth to do with such a pokémon! the fact that stormy wanted to give it a place she thought it might like was quite the relief.

Stormy's eyes widen. While she had, of course, asked him for an explanation behind his decision, she was still surprised to hear his honesty. That, and surprised to hear that he thought so highly of her. It stirred warm feelings in her chest that, while not unfamiliar, aren't common.[break][break]
