Serena wasn't new to acting, she'd done pretty well in her movie after all. Taking on a new identity however? That was a different task. From appearance down to the different mannerisms, she needed to master and mask everything that made this not who she was. Which, normally would be difficult. But ever since things went down with her last mission she hasn't really felt like herself. [break][break]

Not to mention, she was the last person she wanted to be at the moment. She spent her sleepless nights wishing Serena Malcolm would disappear into the abyss. But she had responsibilities now and an ever growing work list, so she couldn't exactly allow herself to waste away, as much as she wanted to. [break][break]

So instead, here she was, at build-a-bitch. [break][break]

No, that wasn't exactly right, but it was close. Since her identity would be compromised soon she needed something else to fall back on for times she needed to be discreet. She was with Gavin, luckily, so she wouldn't have to go through this alone. She was touching up her makeup in a small compact when the door swung open. [break][break]

"Punctual like always, Gavin." Decker greeted Gavin. A soft click came from her compact as she closed it and slid it back into her purse. She figured she'd come 'prepared' just in case they were taking pictures for photo ID's and anything else. Besides, it would allow her to get into to character if she came in her disguise, and forget about everything wrong with Serena Malcolm. [break][break]

She'd follow Gavin's lead here, she never really interacted with Killian much, but she'd seen him around before. It was easier to just follow than do anything unnecessary for now, not to mention she was just too exhausted to really do anything extra than what was expected of her.

She followed them all into the room and sat down on the couch silently as the two men continued their discussion. The area was nicely decorated but the furniture felt like some props at some furniture store. Like they weren't really used, and not all that comfortable. Crossing her legs, she reclined a bit in her seat while messing around on her phone. [break][break]

"Baby's first fake ID." [break][break]

Serena's hands paused from their tapping on the screen as her amber colored eyes rose and almost twitched at the way he addressed her. She resisted the urge to tell him to fuck right off and turned her attention right back to her phone. After all, he wasn't exactly wrong either. "First, you need to know that it's not as simple as the movies make it look. We don't stand you in front of a camera, take a few photos and slap your face on a card."[break][break]

Once more she had to resist the urge to let her true reactions show. She was just irritable and she wasn't in the mood for some mediocre lecture. She just wanted this thing done so she could go back to wallowing in self-pity back in her room. "Birth certificate, trainer ID, trainer number, regional ID, league credentials." Killian would continue. [break][break]

"The list of things needed to make you someone you're not is long, requires considerable expertise, and something very few people can do." But she wasn't here because people couldn't do it. She was here because he could, and she could feel her patience slowly slipping as he continued to address her like some helpless child. [break][break]

She watched as he passed a pack of cigarettes' to her mentor and she reached in her bag and handed him a light should he have taken them. "Keep that in mind before you start doing anything brazen." Serena's jaw became taught as her eyes turned to Killian, fire, defiance, and the promise of a challenge in them. "So are we going to get started or should I start taking notes?" she asked sarcastically.

"Don't let your promotion go to your head so quickly, Serena." came the cutting chastisement from her mentor. Serena's jaw clenched and became rigid. This wasn't about her fucking promotion. She didn't give a rats ass about it, What she did care about was being belittled like she was some child. Good intention or not, Serena was in no mood to be played with. For too long she had been disrespected and she just let it slide. [break][break]

Now after recent events, she found her overflowing patience in short supply these days. She didn't say anything in response to Gavin's words. He wouldn't accepted what she had to say anyway. So the best option was to remain silent, despite the fact that she was ready to burst at the seams. [break][break]

"You should take notes." Decker addressed her with a snappier tone. Serena's amber colored irises began to lose it's luster as she stared back at the man. If she was going to be made to endure then she'd need to be elsewhere. Serena began to go through the process of something she had been doing plenty recently, numbing herself. "You'll clearly need them if you're going to be staring at your phone the whole time."

His words would flow in one ear and out the other as Serena focused on retreating to the deepest parts of herself. Deciding it was better to check out than risk punishment for saying something else she had no business. She couldn't trust herself to remain calm anymore. She couldn't trust to keep her emotions reigned in and so she would lock herself away, figuratively speaking. [break][break]

Her tense posture loosened and jaw relaxed as she stared back at Killian, eyes devoid of any sort of life or luster they used to have. Her eyes followed him as he got up from his seat and rummaged around in a desk drawer. Moments later he slapped a notepad and pencil in front of her. Her eyes drifted slowly to stare at them on the table. [break][break]

"Here." he said as he sat back down across from them. It was a challenge. But Serena was no longer in a state to play. Her movements were slow, but she tucked her phone away before reaching for the notepad and pencil and placing them on her lap as she stared back at her 'would-be' teacher. [break][break]

"Tell me, Serena, what type of alias should you use when creating a false identity?" He wanted to put her in her place. Understandable. Serena wouldn't comply though. Nor would she be baited again. Purely out of fear for Gavin's response. He didn't like to tell her things twice after all. [break][break]

In fact, it was out of respect for Gavin that Serena said nothing. After all, she didn't trust herself to speak without messing things up further. So instead she simply crossed her legs and readied the pencil above the notepad, prepared to take notes on whatever trivial lecture Decker was about to give her.

How annoying. She gets scolded for her slip up and when she attempts to do the right thing she's hit with frustrations, petty digs, and annoyance. All which were taking a toll on just how much patience she could exercise. "Are we to assume you don't know the answer?" It took everything within Serena not to roll her eyes and sigh. Evident in how hard she tightly she gripped her pen, but remained silent. [break][break]

"Don't be silent now." Decker spoke up as he reached for the pack of cigarettes on the table in front of them. "What type of alias should you use when creating a false identity?" he repeated the question almost as if she hadn't heard him. No, her hearing was perfect. His gaze narrowed on her and she held it with just a fierce a glare from her amber orbs. [break][break]

"Don't feel as though you need to hold your tongue, Serena. Anything you say - I've heard it before." Oh how people loved to play with fire around her. But she couldn't do what she wanted. She couldn't speak freely and now she couldn't even withhold her words. None of her desires or wishes matter in the presence of men who held control over her it seemed. [break][break]

Typical.[break][break]

"I assume something as far away from your own identity. You wouldn't want to pick something similar or people might notice. Even down to the mannerisms. You want to create something complete, whole. But something that doesn't draw much attention. Normal, everyday, pedestrian." Her tone was dry but she'd answered the question like they had pestering her to do. [break][break]

Clicking her pen she was prepared to write whatever the real answer was. She'd play along. Whatever they wanted her to do so that she could get out of here sooner. That had always been the goal anyway. [break][break]

"You don't want to be too obvious," Gavin agrees and Serena nods silently. She already knew her answer was sound which was why she didn't understand why this whole thing was being turned into a lecture in the first place. Still, she conceded and began to let her pen scratch against the paper as she took notes. No one would be able to say she didn't try. [break][break]

"You're correct." Decker says as he takes a drag from his cigarette. "What you want is a name that's easy to remember. That slips off the tongue and feels as natural as your birth name. Hell, sometimes all you need is a change of surname." She was sure that might work for some. But for an internet personality and mogul in the making that wouldn't exactly fly with her. [break][break]

"but straying too far from what you know means you're more likely to make mistakes. You need a solid foundation to work with, or the identity won't hold up under questioning." Gavin continued. Serena wasn't so sure she agreed with all of that. In her case in particular she believed the further she got from who she was the stronger her fabricated identity would be.[break][break]

It wasn't just about picking a name and changing her hair. It was to become a completely different person. Someone with a story, with passions and interests. That held dislikes and specific moral principles. If mistakes were to be made the error would lie wholly with the individual. Serena would never allow herself to be caught so recklessly. Her posture was different from the start, she took this extremely seriously. This wasn't some Spring Break fling. [break][break]

"Whatever you choose, it's all about confidence. Walk into a room and act like you belong there, most people won't even look at you." Gavin finishes releasing a steady stream of smoke from his mouth and nostrils. "Hmm. You're partially correct. Confidence plays a significant role but what you want more than anything is to be forgettable." Decker chimed in, bringing it back to Serena's earlier point. It truly was easier to be plain. If you were invisible no one would look at you after all. [break][break]

Serena felt a gaze on her but she kept her head down as her pen scribbled quickly across the paper. "The International Police coined a term for what we're referring to. Gray Man Theory or The Little Gray Man. Basically, the theory boils down to this: The number one way to not leave a lasting impression is to not make one at all."[break][break]

Nothing is new under the sun. At least that's how she believed the old saying went. None of this was surprising but she made clear and detailed notes regardless. But at least they were all on one page in regards to this. "You already have a hurdle in accomplishing this given your looks." Decker continued which caused Serena to falter for a moment as her amber hues rose to meet his own. [break][break]

Her looks? How would that pose an issue? After a moment the pieces clicked and she shook her head. It was...somewhat of a compliment. At least she'd take it that way. "That won't be as much of a problem as you make it out to be, I can assure you." she said as she began to write on her notepad again. [break][break]

Just as she had come to this meeting in costume, Serena was confident in her abilities. With the proper tools Serena could fabricate plenty of identities for herself. With her skills she was sure she could make a plain Jane that would leave her superiors wondering if they truly were talking to Serena or not. [break][break]

"So, yeah - pick something simple and not too exotic for a name." Decker concluded and Serena's pen finally came to a rest as she tilted her head to the side. "If it's so integral that I get this right, wouldn't it be wiser for you too pick out something for me instead of doing it myself?" She asked. [break][break]

It was a genuine question but after her earlier outburst she wasn't sure they would see it that way, so she continued. "I mean, out of everyone in this room you are the expert. Unless there's some hidden reason to me choosing something on my own that you have yet to disclose." she said as she readied her pen once more.
