It has to be a lie. For someone like Fernando that thrived on domination in personal and professional life, to not twist and master these powers seemed farfetched. Another clever deceit that Killian can see through but couldn't stop. [break][break]

"Tell him the truth, Killian." [break][break]

The phantom voice matched his mother's so perfectly it's haunting. So gentle and sweet. The way she'd been before drugs snuffed out her light. [break][break]

Killian still refused to look. As if doing so would sap the specter of its power. Deny it of its existence despite its breath tickling his ear. [break][break]

"He can help you." [break][break]

What a fucked game. What a horrible, twisted and disgusting way to play with the emotions of others. The dead deserved to rest, not be toys in Fernando's hands. [break][break]

A GOOD POISON WORKS WELL AFTER IT'S COMPLETE

FERNANDO DOESN’T BLINK. Doesn’t so much as bat an eye. Killian’s revelation has as much impact on Fernando as his income tax—inconsequential, expected even.

Experience has curated expectations that encompass all possibilities.

That didn't make any sense. Killian made a meticulous effort to hide his association with Rocket. Using Kaito's name to jab at the mobster may have been a slip-up, but it wouldn't connect him to Hoenn's premium criminal gang. [break][break]

Instinct screamed like an Exploud for him to press for an explanation. One whisper from his mother kept his tongue sheathed in its scabbard. [break][break]

"Tell him who you are." [break][break]

Killian frowned. The question is too vague - who is he? As in his name? "Killian Decker." or was Fernando searching for something more abstract?

“DECKER.” Fernando smiles. “That’ll do.”

The conversation dives further. Questions and answers blur. Not all of their conversation is honest, as expected between two creatures who value intelligence, but enough of it passes through that it continues.

As promised, the MISTY TERRAIN starts to fade with time. Spirits harpoon as they’re pulled back into the afterlife the more stable and cordial the conversation becomes. Fernando reads Killian’s expression to gauge his mental aptitude, pacing his own powers accordingly.

But his mother never leaves him.

“Ah, your son then,” Fernando quirks as her phantom speaks to him in an intelligible gibberish. “Well, Decker, I’ll have everything sorted from hereon out.”

He looks to the door but doesn’t motion for it. After all, they’re not alone. Fernando can hide a few details from the outside world but treading carefully is the only way neither of them will be caught.

“But that doesn’t address your real problem.”

Fernando's smug smile made Killian sick. But it didn't compare to the disgust he felt for himself. For the third time, someone in Hoenn made him powerless. FERNANDO SILPH stood as the worst. Lulu Flint's nightmares were asked for, her fury provoked. Cillian Quinn's misguided act of protection was just that, misguided. But Fernando? He used the dead to beat Killian down, and he did it with a smirk. [break][break]

Salt in an open wound, it burned in ways too difficult to describe.[break][break]

It needed to stop.[break][break]

Killian wasn't some weakling to be bullied and kicked around by whoever saw fit. Yet he could do nothing but seethe in silence, a prisoner to the machinations of another. [break][break]

The admin stood, attention briefly shifting to the door. "But we'll have to worry about that later. I've been here too long. My people will get suspicious if I don't start answering my phone." he dipped his hands into his pockets.[break][break]
