Leave it to Luka to turn a straightforward task into an absolute mess. Rescuing a Skitty from a tree was hardly a dangerous mission, though Luka hadn’t counted on the little cat being so difficult. As soon as she approaches the tree the cat pokemon mews plaintively and looks as though it were about to jump into her outstretched arms, but instead turns tail and hop sup another few branches.[break][break]

So it wants to give her a hard time. Fine! Luka rolls up her sleeves and starts to climb, finding a few footholds to help her along the way. It’s not an elegant climb by any means, but at least she makes it up most of the way with little trouble. But the stubborn cat continues to evade her, climbing higher and higher and forcing her to follow. Up here the branches begin to thin, and Luka despairs about them being able to support her weight. And she’s exactly right- with a loud crack the bough underneath her breaks, leaving her her dangling from one branch and kicking her feet wildly looking for some kind of purchase. [break][break]

The Skitty watches her, eyes enormous, and meows once.[break][break]

If Luka cursed, she would be making a sailor blush about now. But as it is, she remains mostly silent, especially when she hears the underbrush rustling underneath her. She doesn’t know if it’s a person or pokemon, but either way she does not want to be seen in a humiliating situation like this. [break][break]

With any luck, she’ll remain hidden up the tree and whoever is underneath will pass by without noticing anything. [break][break]
But she has no luck. As she hangs from the branch one of her shoes slips off, poised to bonk the poor passerby on the head like Newton’s famous apple.[break][break] MATIAS SILPH

Luka remains frozen as she dangles from the branch, hoping that if maybe she stays perfectly still, the person below won't see her. You know, like Jurassic Park rules. [break][break] It doesn't work. She winces as she hears her shoe bonk them in the head, but is unable to see exactly who she'd hit through the foliage. "Sorry!" Luka calls down. "Y-yeah, I'm totally fine!" she continues, like a liar.[break][break] A few branches above her, the Skitty meows again. It's hard to tell if it's distressed or amused by the situation. "Oh. Hi, Monsieur Matias." [break][break] Luka continues dangling there, embarrassment crawling up the back of her neck. She kicks her feet, attempting to find purchase on a branch below her, but has no such luck. The Skitty meows again, a plaintive sound over the rustling of leaves as the branch she's hanging from starts to bend.[break][break] "Ummm...sorry. Actually...I might need a hand." Well...it's a bit more complicated than that," Luka admits sheepishly. From the bough above her, the Skitty lets out another meow, this one sounding almost impatient. "There's, um, I was trying to help this Skitty...it's stuck up here with me too. I think." [break][break] Come to think of it, shouldn't the cat be agile enough to get down by itself? Luka frowns up at it, but the Skitty merely sits smugly on it's branch and begins to groom. [break][break] "Do you, um, do you think you could get us both down somehow?"[break][break] MATIAS SILPH

because if it got up there all by itself then surely it can come back down. but maybe he's wrong, so without saying anything more, he fishes for a pokeball and calls out his zarude.

"i'll get you down first, alright?"

and with that, he nods to zarude who extends out its POWER WHIP. the thick vine reaches up, looking to curl around luka.

"It's got to come down! I'm on a mission!" There's a gentle insistence in her tone; Luka can be surprisingly stubborn when she wants to be. But only for the benefit of someone other than herself, it seems. She peers down through the leaves at Matias and his Pokemon- a species she doesn't recognize, but since it's his teammate, she trusts it completely.[break][break]
"Mmm...okay," she agrees with some reluctance, allowing the vine to wrap around her waist and start to pull her down. "But you've got to promise to get the skitty too!"

and so the POWER WHIP wraps around luka, lifting her off the branch, through some more branches, before finally placing her gently onto the ground.

"i wanted you to jump so i can have virizion make a grand entrance. she's been waiting in the bushes for a while now."

he points over to their right, toward a couple of bushes, and virizion pokes her head out from behind some.

Luka breathes an audible sigh of relief as soon as her feet touch the ground. Above her in the tree the Skitty meows down, much louder than before. It's starting to become clear that the cat is more desperate for attention than a rescue.[break][break]

But at the mention of Virizion Luka's gaze shifts from the tree overhead to the bushes, her eyes going wide when an elegant snout pokes through them. Though technically not her first time seeing a legendary Pokemon in person, she's still just as floored- she blinks, trying (and likely failing) not to appear too starstruck.[break][break]

"Oh...I'm sorry! I ruined it." That would've been so cool...Luka purses her lips, thinking. "Should I climb back up so we can try it again?"

"Okay! One second..." Luka trots back towards the tree, realizing once she's halfway there how ridiculous it is to go back after just getting unstuck. But, well, she had already offered, and there's no going back now. She chuckles to herself as she finds the same footholds and begins to hoist herself up, but pauses when the Skitty starts meowling again.[break][break]
It's safely on the forest floor, but it seems the cat wants to have some fun too. After freeing itself from Zarude's vines the Skitty leaps over to Luka and springs up on her shoulder, tiny claws digging in. "Hey now...we just got you down!" Luka protests, and the answering meow sounds a heck of a lot like, 'so?'[break][break]
Luka sighs. The little claws hold a firm grip. She looks back at Matias with a defeated smile and shakes her head. "Fine," she says, resuming her climb, "But you have to come down with me this time."[break][break]
Once she's made decent progress she looks down again, first towards Matias, and then at the clump of bushes concealing Virizion. "Umm...okay, are you ready?"

matias simply watches as the skitty leaps back up at luka.

"oops, that's on zarude."

the monkey shrugs.

once luka's up on the branch and ready again, matias looks over to virizion who not-so-subtly shifts back down, lowering to hide behind the bushes.

"ready!"

"Okay..." Luka hadn't climbed up quite as high as before, and it's not that far of a jump back down. But nerves stick in her throat anyways and she hesitates, her grip on the tree trunk tight.

[break][break]The Skitty meows again, right in her ear. Luka jolts in surprise and lets go of the tree, her foot slipping from it's purchase on a treebranch. She yelps and half jumps, half falls out of the tree, one hand on her thigh to keep her skirt from flying up while the other tightly grips the Skitty on her shoulder.
