Stormy was ready for round two. No sooner had she left the safari zone triumphantly holding three new pokeballs, she was back. This time, however, she was well recognized and well received at the gates to the zone. Apparently, she had gained significant infamy from her recent travels and was given a bonus pokeball for her participation.[break][break]

She had her sleeves rolled up this time in determination. She knew she ought to be focusing on her duties for the League and continue pressing the issue that no one was allowing her to become the Lavaridge gym leader. This information infuriated her more than she'd like to admit, but it fueled her energy to dive deep into the heart of the safari zone.[break][break]

A new influx of fire-type Pokemon had arrived in the zone, and she had been dutifully notified that a couple of elusive Turtonator happened to be among them as well. Granted, she had no idea what the fuck a Turtonator was, but the fact that it had been mentioned led her to believe that this might be of some sort of importance.[break][break]

This time, Stormy had Chansey with her. The plush pink medic was overjoyed to be coming with her on a mission like this, and happily bounced around behind Stormy as they made their way through the tall grasses. Stormy's eyes were like analytical microscopes, hunting for the slightest bit of movement.[break][break]

Stormy, so focused on discovering the slightest twitch of grass, pounced on the first thing to move. Unfortunately for her, it was a very slippery, very poisonous-looking Salandit.[break][break]

She screamed in spite of herself, immediately letting go of the angry fire lizard who was now spitting threats at her. The critter worked herself up so much that she belched, a stinky smell eminating from the deepest part of her stomach. Stormy wrinkled her nose in response, stumbling back a few paces.[break][break]

"Sorry to disturb you, run along!"[break][break]

Due to her colouring and her lack of obvious fire, she didn't catch on that the salamander was anything close to a fire type, and therefore showed no interest in her whatsoever.[break][break]

Instead, Stormy walked off in a totally different direction - she got the vibe that the Salandit was likely to have friends, and she wanted to be nowhere near where she'd found the first one in case it brought back friends to shut her down[break][break]

Wiping off a bead of anxious sweat, Stormy made her way through more tall grass, extending her palms out to part it like an ocean.[break][break]

Chansey continued to huff and puff behind her as she tried to keep up.[break][break]

It was the furry tufts of ears poking out from behind a bush that alerted Stormy. Her squeal of excitement was enough to scare off everything from here to the other side of the world, though. Fortunately, the Fennekin busy picking through branches of the bush was too invested in what she was doing to even notice.[break][break]

When Stormy finally crept up next to it, crouching low and staring wide-eyed and in fascination, the Fennekin lifted its head. She blinked, taken aback at how close Stormy was to her so suddenly. The little fox looked over her shoulder, wondering where in the worlds he might have come from so suddenly.[break][break]

"Hey! You're super cute. What are you, exactly? You look like you might be a fire-type.."[break][break]

She pauses, tapping her chin thoughtfully before bringing out her PokeNav. The device blinks to life, but had apparently already scanned information from the Salandit she had ran into previous. Stormy sighed in disappointment and looked wistfully over her shoulder when the soft words Salandit, a fire and poison type Pokemon were spoken.[break][break]

"Aw, what? You're telling me this now, you stupid machine?"[break][break]

There's exasperation in her voice, but she perks up when the device picks up on Fennekin, explaining to her what she is and her typing.[break][break]

"So, you're a Fennekin, eh? That's neat. What are you looking for?"[break][break]

Upon further investigation in what she evolved into, Stormy came to the conclusion that she was likely looking for the perfect branch for her next evolutions. The young woman nodded thoughtfully as she watched the creature pick through the bush once again, completely ignoring [break][break]

"Want some help?"[break][break]

Without waiting for a response, Stormy broke off a particularly strong piece of twig. It still had tufts of leaves stuck to the end. The Fennekin seemed quite interested in this and promptly sat at attention.[break][break]

Stormy, not one to pass up on an opportunity, held both the branch and a pokeball in her hands.[break][break]

"I'll give it to you if you agree to come with me on my adventures. What do you say?"[break][break]

The Fennekin didn't seem to care too much, as she didn't know the girl. She was simply entranced by the branch for some reason and had little to no other motivations. As a result, Stormy promptly made the attempt to catch the little vixen.[break][break]

Chansey looked over her shoulder thoughtfully, also, for some reason, interested in the branch.[break][break]

Fennekin catches relatively easily, and Stormy is courteous enough to pocket the branch she offered the little vixen. She feels no reason to lie to the little Pokemon about something as trivial as sticks.[break][break]

When she rises, the Chansey trills in happiness, before shuffling out of the way for her trainer to move on ahead.[break][break]

It doesn't take long for Stormy to find what she's really here for. The man at the front desk, who had explained to her a popular, but elusive Pokemon named Turtonator, had described to her what they looked like.[break][break]

So, when Stormy finds herself crashing the party of a couple of the odd-looking beasts, her heart pounds violently. She latches onto Chansey's hand and shakes it in excitement, nearly throwing the poor Pokemon off balance.[break][break]

"Look, Chansey! I think those are the Turtonator things the guy mentioned! Look how big they are, man! They look scary!"[break][break]

However, even though they looked scary, Stormy wasn't about to chicken out. She was a fire-type trainer, through and through, and would stop at nothing to get her hands on one the beasts.[break][break]

"They're stunning. Look at how they move, Chansey. They're a little slow, but they're so confident. And so big! Look at the spikes on their shells! Let's get closer."[break][break]

Chansey paled at this new idea of hers, hesitating as Stormy began to briskly make her way towards them. [break][break]

"Chansey! Chan!"[break][break]

Her tone was worrisome, her voice tight with nerves as she tried to bring her trainer back. They didn't know if Turtonator were friendly, after all![break][break]

Fortunately for Stormy, the Turtonator seemed to not notice nor care that she was so close. Some of the more irritable ones simply moved away from her, their lumbering bodies taking slow and practiced movements so as to not be bumped.[break][break]

The young woman, fervent in her desire to get up close and personal with such interesting creatures, began to investigate the spikes on the back of one's back.[break][break]

The Turtonator in question blinked in surprise, his spines seeming to stiffen as Stormy continued to touch them. In fact, he became so nervous that he began to shuffle his feet and sweat, worried that she might hurt herself.[break][break]

Just as he was to turn his head around to look at her, Stormy presses too hard on one of the spikes. It causes a small explosion in which the Turtonator's spikes all explode and disappear, leaving holes in his shell.[break][break]

Stormy, breathless and surprised, stumbles backwards. There's a few cuts on her face and a minor burn on her hand, but she seems fine. It's her hair that's a mess, with smoke still coming out of it.[break][break]

"That.. is so cool."[break][break]

The Turtonator sighs, and Chansey immediately springs into action. Her gentle heal pulse immediately begins to soothe the burn on her hand. But Stormy is not at all deterred by her injuries, and instead comes around to face the Turtonator.[break][break]

He does not seem all that thrilled to see the reason he'll have to take several hours regrowing his spikes, and otherwise tries to ignore her.[break][break]

Unfortunately for him, Stormy is stubborn and charming.[break][break]

"You're incredible! Do they grow back? How long does it take? I know for sure you must be a fire type, but you're so different from the typical one's I've seen. Wow, you're gonna be such a great addition to the team."[break][break]

At the sound of that, the Turtonator hiccups in surprise. Where and when had he agreed to this, after all?[break][break]

"Sing him to sleep, Chansey."[break][break]

The plush Pokemon does as requested, and soon the Turtonator is dozing off. Stormy takes this opportunity to capture the Turtonator, or did she kidnap him?[break][break]

Stormy is quite pleased to find that Turtonator catches easily. Granted, it's probably because he was fast asleep and unable to fight it.. but still.[break][break]

The woman moves on quickly, once again scoping out the area. Her eyes pass over another curious Fennekin who, unfortunately, unlike her previous encounter with the Fennekin she just caught, is much too shy. Had it stayed, she likely would have caught that one too. But it ran away immediately, spooked by how aggressively Stormy ran through the area.[break][break]

Chansey was close to her the entire time, huffing and puffing to keep up, but presenting a very serious and determined face.[break][break]

There's excitement in her voice, and she feels her chest flutter with intensity. She's like a kid in a candy store out here, eyes goggling at each and every exciting new taste to try.[break][break]

When her eyes land on a very timid Cyndaquil, who promptly took off at a dead sprint to avoid being attacked by Stormy's overpowering love, she gives chase. Obviously. It's Stormy Silph.[break][break]

The little fire hedgehog is desperate to escape, so much so that she is now rolling herself into a ball at the same time she uses flame charge to speed her along.[break][break]

"She's so fast.."[break][break]

Stormy's eyes twinkle with intensity.[break][break]

"I have to have her."[break][break]

Chansey is huffing and puffing at this point, and Stormy is far gone. The young, over-confident fire-type trainer has left her plush medic in the dust, literally. The pink Pokemon sits back on her bum to take a breather and wait for Stormy to return.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Cyndaquil has disappeared entirely, with Stormy on the hunt.[break][break]

The woman has brought out her Skarmory to help search for it. It's quite a shock to the steel-type bird when, upon finding and retrieving the quiet little hedgehog, is now burned all over.[break][break]

Skarmory coughs, smoke coming out of her throat. Her wings are stained black with smoke, and the Cynadquil's nose is quivering in rage and fear.[break][break]

"Good work, Skarmory!"[break][break]

Stormy is confident, puffing out her chest. Meanwhile, Skarmory is less than stellar about the situation, but can't help but be a little amused at how proud her master is.[break][break]

The young woman promptly attempts to capture the Cyndaquil, and then makes her way back to Chansey.[break][break]

"Chansey can patch you up, she's good at that sort of thing."[break][break]

No sooner does she catch the Cyndaquil does she notice how.. unreasonably hot it's gotten.[break][break]

Granted, she loves the heat, being cold gives her a fever and the sniffles and she absolutely doesn't live for that.[break][break]

She tugs on the collar of her shirt for a while before she really clues in to what's happening. The sun has parted away the clouds, and the temperate has risen a fair amount. Enough to make even Skarmory feel uncomfortable.[break][break]

Chansey has already tended to the bird's burns, soothing them with a heal pulse. This leaves Stormy open to look around her. For a couple minutes the three of them had all taken a break to relax and recharge, but now that Stormy had noticed the drought, she was ready to go again.[break][break]

"You'd almost think Torkoal was around, eh guys? I wonder who's making it so hot?"[break][break]

Just as she says this, a very feisty and hotheaded Vulpix appears from behind a couple of trees. The area they had been resting in is bare of much vegetation. They had all settled in a wide open field of tall grass to better appreciate the sun.[break][break]

Chansey looks up from nursing Skarmory to see the sassy little vixen. She is completely unlike the calm and curious Fennekin they had recently encountered. For whatever reason, this little doll is itching to pick a fight.[break][break]

"Skarmory, you think you're up to teach this little lady a lesson in manners? I kind of like her though, so don't go too hard. I'd like to see if we can curb that attitude. She seems tough."[break][break]

Skarmory, although a little weary to be battling against yet another fire-type, gets to her feet. She isn't about to be bested by a Pokemon a quarter of her size. She's trained alongside Stormy's fire-types before and knows what to expect.[break][break]

She seems to roll her metal wings, eyes narrowing in determination.[break][break]

The Vulpix has now put on an innocent face, however, putting her baby-doll eyes to good use. This throws off Skarmory for an instant, allowing the Vulpix a chance to blast her with flamethrower. The hiss of metal being set aflame is loud, and Stormy shields her face as the flames dance off her wings.[break][break]

Skarmory isn't to be shirked by the attack, however painful it is. She shakes off the remaining embers, beating her wings furiously to rid herself of the lasting pain.[break][break]

While doing this, she also seems to loosen a few heavy feathers. They drop to the ground, effectively reducing her weight with autotomize. Without another moment's hesitation, and much to the chagrin of the wild Vulpix, Skarmory comes in fast with a powerful steel wing. She knocks the Pokemon clean off her feet, and the Vulpix gets to her feet, fur ruffled and matted with dirt.[break][break]

A psychic attack is her next choice of action, but Skarmory is quicker. The metal bird uses her wings to whip up a whirlwind. The winds pull at Vulpix's fur and eventually the vixen is airborne. She falls to the ground in defeat not too far away, and Skarmory huffs in appreciation at her abilities. She then promptly leaves for the nearest tree to rest her scorched wings.[break][break]

Stormy leaves her to it and runs up to cradle the fainted Vulpix in her arms and attempt a capture.[break][break]

"Never met a metal bird who didn't run from fire, have you?"
