Helping people at the local food bank in Slateport, volunteering at the local PokeCenter when they were overwhelmed, or even simply studying for her new college classes. And yet right now, this suddenly became the biggest priority she had. [break][break]

There was a mystery to be solved, and it seemed almost kind of ominous. This strange app, The Unown Report, cataloging Unown and revealing words one after another. Surely, there had to be something to be discovered, something of importance. Nothing happened in this region that wasn't at least tangentially related to something important. [break][break]

And yet, here she stood atop Mt. Pyre, completely confused. Had she already walked past that tree before? It looked familiar, but she could swear she was just going in circles with all the hyper-focusing she was doing. With a soft sigh, Ruby sent out a good portion of her own Unown collection, only to speak with them. [break][break]

"Let's go guys, help find more of you. And, maybe the safe way down too, when you can."

When Mars had participated in the cook-off for the sake of quick and free promotion for the bank, he had not expected for things to turn out this way. A mysterious device had been given to many of the participants, himself included, and with it had come a strange app.

Unown.

They were pokémon he had always had a faint interest in, as he did with so many others; myths and stories having been read at the libraries of his Canalave home, secrets belonging both the Sinnoh region and foreign lands finding themselves documented there as no more than tales that could be of use one day. Some leads had been researched and explored, some had not – the Marzáns only ever caring about that which they can take advantage of.

Is that what Mars himself is aiming for?

Not particularly, and he realizes as much when he sees the small swarm of Unown, his curiosity over the pokémon far surpassing any use he could possibly find in their small figures. As per usual, his goal and those of his family don’t seem to align at all.

Following the Unown, he soon finds a pink-haired girl, the pair of Inkay by his side twirling in the air the moment she’s spotted.

She had been so distracted findng the way down the mountain and looking for other pokemon, that the sound of his footsteps didn't register until he was right upon her. "Oh. Uh, hello. To you too."[break][break]

Boy was this awkward.[break][break]

Clearing her throat, Ruby continued to speak. "Sorry, I wasn't prepared to meet anyone else up here. I've kind of been hunting alone for a while." [break][break]

Her Unown would swarm around the two of them, eyes curiously examining every single inch of the stranger before Ruby waved her hand to try and dismiss them. "Relax, guys. I get that you're eager to find more, but let's not get into a stranger's personal space, alright?" [break][break]

Suddenly, a Drakloak flying with incredible speeds began to zoom by, investigating the mass of Pokemon. Deciding that it would make it a good fight, it suddenly began to strike. Flinging a powerful Hex down at the Unowns.[break][break]

Ruby's own swarm would immediately respond as Ruby suddenly shifted her entire attitude, prepared for a fight. Her nervous and apologetic tone quickly vanished as a confident voice replaced her own. "Arr, Queue, Hidden Power, now."[break][break]

Energy built up, before being launched straight at the Pokemon. Sure enough, the combined strength of their Dark and Dragon based Hidden Powers were enough to knock it out of the sky, like a crashing plane. As soon as it slammed into the ground, Ruby quickly retrieved an empty Pokeball and tossed it.[break][break]

"Uh... Sorry about that. You didn't get hit, did you?" Just like that, back to her soft-spoken self.

There’s that charming and confident smile that at times seems almost like the POG Bank CEO’s patented brand. Mt. Pyre can be quite an eerie and perhaps even scary place, after all, and he’s not here to frighten any teenagers – even if it’s one who walks around with a swarm of Unown.

”I’ve never seen so many of them in one place, it’s rather impressive. Caught them all yourself?” He’s curious, so he has no issue in admitting to this, nor is he fazed by the amount of eyes on him. A man who is used to living in the spotlight, even if it’s not usually pokémon who look at him. Their attention is soon diverted, though.

So, with interest, he watches the Unown knock out the Drakloak when it appears, the girl’s former hesitation and shyness being cast aside in favour of pure effectiveness in battle. She’s one of those people, huh?

Nah, don’t worry about it. Good catch.” Just as he says this, a strange shadow appears among the trees, and with no more than a click of his tongue, his Inkay jump into action.

It’s the same well-practiced and expertly synchronized routine they usually do: HYPNOSIS leads the ghost into slumber right before a NIGHT SLASH strikes with swift and deadly accuracy. A pokéball is tossed once the Shuppet is weakened.
