mr. mime (m) filter - psychic, dazzling gleam, mimic, safeguard, teeter dance, protect

matias is about to pass up on this kirlia before he realizes that he's likely going to evolve the kirlia he has into a gallade, which means he needs to replace it.

and so, he points to the psychic-type as it TRACES out its enemies. it doesn't stop virizion from closing the distance to take it out with a single swipe of her LEAF BLADE, however.

quick and efficient, the kirlia is captured.

finally, another unown shows up, though this time matias decides not to capture it, perhaps wanting to befriend the man besides him. consider it a peace offering, of sorts.

his pokemon are already preparing to jump on the unown before his voice stops them.

Peace offering or not, Mars’ Gardevoir is as eager to go for the Unown as Matias’ own pokémon, TELEPORTING closer to it as soon as it senses the Symbol Pokémon’s presence near them. It knows to chase after Unown on sight, after all.

Unlike Matias, Mars doesn’t redirect his pokémon’s attention, and it’s calmly that he watches the Gardevoir use HYPNOSIS to make sure the Unown can’t escape them.

his attention doesn't linger long, however, as he shifts it to an approaching doublade. maybe it's unown's bodyguard that failed? either way, its NIGHT SLASH grazes against virizion as she closes the distance.

her LEAF BLADE is surrounded by MAGICAL LEAVES before it comes crashing down on the doublade. a pokeball follows.

Interesting because the words generated by Unown-? entries have been some of the ones he has found most intriguing about the report. They have caught his attention, and it makes him wonder what word this one will result in.

Mars watches the way the MAGICAL LEAF floats towards Matias, and as he does, a slight smirk tugs at his lips. People really believe everyone in the League is non-confrontational and seeks peace, huh? If only they knew the things said in private by their own Elite Four.

Smart because with the way things are looking and with the way things seem to be in Hoenn, eventual confrontation is likely, and yet… charging head-first into battle and seeking conflict without even knowing anything about their opponent is unquestionably stupid. Such a dichotomy.

While Matias deals with the Baltoy, a noxious cloud of POISON GAS begins to spread nearby, and covering his mouth with his forearm, Mars uses his other hand to signal his Noivern to action. A DRAGON PULSE deals with the Hypno, the bushes it had been hiding in being left unable to protect it from the wave of draconic power.
