The vibrant greens of Route 121 lay in heavy contrast with the gloom of the mountain it leads to and Mars is thankful for that. The eeriness of Mt. Pyre has never been something he cares much for, after all, and while visits have often been made to it in the past, it has never been with the frequency that it's happening now.

It’s why a change of scenery is much needed, and while he’d usually favour Route 122’s delightful ocean breeze over this, much alike at Mt. Pyre, Psychic type pokémon roam around here.

This is almost all it really takes for Mars to take a good guess as to exactly who this stranger is.

Even from a distance, there’s something vaguely familiar about caden maher’s appearance; those subtle things that, in most cases, people wouldn’t be able to point out one by one with a mere glance but that genetics gifts all relatives with all the same – despite how much this may be denied.

No matter how observant Mars may be, at first it's hard to pinpoint where this sense of familiarity comes from. Mars meets strangers all the time, after all, and it’s all too easy for the memory of the unimportant ones to quickly fade away and become all too vague…

Is this someone he’s met before?

As if to answer this, there’s the voice, the tone, and with them the almost off-puttingly bold flirting that Mars would come to consider the Maher family’s patented brand if it weren’t for the fact that boruta maher had seem so very lacking in this kind of “charm” back when he had met him at the tournament. Maybe it’s just the twins, then.

[break][break] it's awfully cute, and a psychic type, which makes it the perfect addition to the doctor's team. luckily, his musharna seems to think so too, using IMPRISON to keep the pokemon in place while caden throws a pokeball at it.

"you come here often?" his head tilts, dark eyes shifting over to the other to look at him. it isn't someone that caden recognizes, then again, that in itself should not be a surprise since he and his brother do not normally talk about such things.

A smirk tugs upon his lips when these words are spoken, not particularly trying to make fun of Caden, but being unable to stop himself from teasing him just a little bit. ’Do you come here often?’ What is this, a bar? Maybe he’s just being overly critical because of how strange it is to have CIAN MAHER’s brother hitting on him.

Speaking of whom, Mars sure will have a story to tell him the next time they meet, huh?

Who is he kidding, he’ll probably text him about it the second he gets a chance.

For now, he can’t, because Caden’s full attention is on him after having caught a Wynaut, while Mars’ own momentarily drifts towards a Ralts that appears from among the bushes nearby. A subtle nod towards it is all it takes for the Inkay to get to work: a HYPNOSIS incapacitating the pokémon by pulling it into slumber, while a precise NIGHT SLASH follows in perfect synchronization. A pokéball is thrown, and Mars looks at Caden once more.
