One by one, locations are to be searched, honey-coloured eyes scanning his surroundings as droplets of water dance in the very air around him. Rapids rage with all their might within the cavern, to a point that even standing too close to the water at particular spots comes with the potential for an unexpected shower.

The waterfalls are loud, but there’s something strangely peaceful about the sound, his gaze inevitably wandering down to the currents just as he steps onto a wooden bridge that crosses over them.

As per usual, Mars is drawn to the water, but as he reminds himself, water is not his reason to be at this place.

Thus, calm and seeming as if simply taking in the view, he leans against the bridge's railing, watching his surroundings.

It was good that Martín del Mar had a few moments of peace, cause Melody was about to crash and ruin it like a rock flying through a glass window. [break][break]

From one of those beautiful waterfalls melody shot out as primarina was singing a beautiful note to create a bubble for them to land on with a flourish and pose. "Primarina! Yes! That was awesome!" she claps her hands together for her pokemon, they were practicing a new contest routine as she loved to participate in pokemon contests and create a party. She looked at Martin and immediately turned red "Ah im so sorry! I didn't meant to scare you if I did! I was practicing a new routine with Primarina and I didn't think anyone else was here." she said puting her hands together to apologize.

That sure is a way to make an entrance.

Mars gets a pretty good view of the whole thing from where he’s standing, and honestly, it’s pretty impressive even if it’s absolutely not what he had expected to find when entering the cavern.
[break][break]
So, when she apologizes, he does no more than chuckle, offering her one of those confident and radiant smiles of his. ”Nah, don’t worry about it. That was pretty good! Your Primarina has a nice voice.” That she does, and it’s something Mars can recognize when having a few of his own.
[break][break]
A Gabite roaming nearby doesn’t seem to be quite as impressed with the Primarina’s singing though, and in what could perhaps be called an act of draconic foolishness, it attempts to attack them all with a SLASH.
[break][break]
Despite the presence of the Inkay, it is a Starmie that is swiftly called out of its pokéball to stop the dragon in its tracks, using ICE BEAM to freeze it in place just before Mars catches it so it stops bothering them.

"Thank you!" she smiled, it was always nice to be complimented especially since these things usually brought a smile to people's place. [break][break]
As the primarina finishes it's performance, it seemed like a fan had rushed the stage towards Melody and co. However the other trainer seemed extremely prepped and handled the draconic fan with a well placed ice beam. Melody clapped, primarina clapped and then sealio clapped! Wait, a sealeo? Melody looked over and saw they had another guest, yet instead of applauding Martin sealeo was focused entirely on Primarina's dazzling performance. [break][break]

Seemed like it was enough to charm the boots off the pokemon that he wanted to join Melody's team so she went over and bopped a dive ball on the pokemon's head and waited until the capture was complete. "Seems like we're about to get swarmed by pokemon, I could use your help fending them off if you're free?" she asked him. "What's your name?"

Melody turns to look at him once the Primarina’s new number one fan has been safely captured by a Dive Ball, and at her words, he smiles just as he had before. ”Sounds like a plan. Martín del Mar, but feel free to just call me Mars.”

Since, apparently Mars was much easier to pronounce for some people, and he’d much rather have everyone call him by his nickname than committing the atrocity of calling him Martin. Talk about pet peeves.

Anyway…

Melody was right, since it was soon enough that a pink Frillish floated right out of the water, as if summoned by the Primarina’s singing. This time, was not the Starmie that countered the attack. Jellyfish vs Tiny Squids, who would win? The answer came easily: a PSYBEAM was aimed at the Frillish as it prepared to attack, and while it found itself caught up in the confusion caused by the sudden strike, a second Inkay twirled near it with a precise NIGHT SLASH. Quick. Effective. Perfectly synchronized.

A pokéball was thrown seconds after that.

Mars prided himself in being well informed, after all, and she wasn't the first among the tournament victors to recently cross his path.

The slowpoke watched the spectacle himself and was also charmed by the primarina, but he was also an oblivious pokemon who didn't understand what Martin's pokemon were doing. He had inkays firing off attacks at pokemon who seemed to be swarming the two trainers, Melody watched as the slowpoke stared helplessly and had to get him out of there as he was going to probably get swept up in it. "Come here little guy." she said bonking him on the head with a dive ball.[break][break]

"Martín?" she said easily with the proper accent, a lot more people who had a similar background to hers had been popping up in Hoenn. First andres and now him! How nice! she finally had people who she could joke and relate to about their cultures! " Yep! That's me! Also how lovely! My last name has an accent too but no one pronounces it so I just started writing it without it." she grinned at him as someone would hopefully said her last name correctly.

It’s at these words that Mars pauses, looking at Melody for a moment. He had actually wondered about it before, if only because he has always been fond of the arts, and the sight of the surname brought thoughts of one all too similar. ”Oh really? Is it Miró, like the painter? It’s nice to hear someone actually being able to pronounce my name here, though.” He chuckles at this, mirroring her grin with one of his own.

Meanwhile, down near the water, his Inkay’s attention seem to be drawn by a light shining bright in the deep, and water type as Lanturn is, Mars is quickly able to recognize it as this. ”Use HYPNOSIS.”

Diving into the water, the pair of Inkay soon appear along with a slumbering Lanturn at which Mars throws a pokéball.

This one is just because he likes the pokémon, honestly.

"Yes actually!" she said being proud of her family's connection to the arts, it seemed like she was almost just born to bring more beautiful sights and sounds to this world cause of it. "I never got to meet him personally but I'd like to think that he was the reason I leaned so heavily into the arts. Some people say it's genetics haha, but no one really pays attention to my art pieces. More often than not people tend to like my music more." she awkwardly, her music was a LOT easier to advertise. Especially when her pieces were so abstract.

"What about you Martín? What do you do in your spare time? Any hidden talents? I like to learn about the people who live in Hoenn, you do live here right? Not just touring?." she asked him as she ran into a lot of people lately who were just visiting. The swarm of pokemon approached closer and primarina and melody had to start working together to beat it back. A dracovish!? What the heck was it doing here? She thought they were long gone, probably escaped from some laboratory. Primarina quickly shot a moon blast at the pokemon who dodged it at first, she then opted for an icy wind to slow it down, and then nailing a 2nd moon blast to do it in. Melody quickly tossed a dive ball at it and secured the catch.

What sort of art styles do you lean towards with your pieces?” Music is nice, but art will always have a special place in Mars’ heart. He’s the type of person who buys nice pieces at auctions and visits galleries when he has the time.

”I do live here, yeah. I have for a couple of years, actually… If we’re talking hidden talents, I have a few, but I wouldn’t say my hobbies are particularly artistic.” At this, he laughs lightly, watching how his Inkay deal with a Solrock in the distance. Melody smiled as she was glad someone took a shine to asking her about her art pieces. "More abstract ones!" she told him "I like to create pieces that evoke emotions in people." she tells him. "I also mainly like to make people happy with my art so I like to depict happy pieces that spark joy." she explains further. [break][break]

"Oooo sports?" she said taking an interest in his hobbies. "Hmmm Maybe not really an art but it could be used in art!" she said interlocking her fingers together as she turned her attention towards solrock who had been watching them eeriely. She launched a pokeball at the pokemon and then turned her attention back to the man in front of her. "Dancing?! I love dancing! What kind do you like to do?" she asked him wanting to learn more about the stranger in front of her.
