It often surprised people that Delibird Deliveries counted even the dead among their clients.

It often surprised people more when they met the anxious, easily-spooked boy who actually made those deliveries.

But they wouldn’t be called the dearly departed if nobody cared for them after all, and while he couldn’t (and had absolutely no desire to) talk to the dead more than anyone else, Locke could at least help deliver one side of the conversation. In fact, the courier expected to frequent the gravesite even more now that it included the humans among its residents.

Thankfully, the freshly-renovated interior the cemetery sported nowadays was a far cry from the derelict, literally hostile environment from his previous visit, so Locke entered the mountain with a bag of cleaning supplies and carefully wrapped offerings, a curious Indeedee, and an unusual amount of confidence.

Locke pulled out a piece of paper, glancing between it and the headstones as he passed through the lower floor. The lighting was still kept fairly dim inside, however, so he struggled to pick out the names and lot numbers he needed to find. Lucky for him there was this conveniently-placed lamp nearby!

The lamplight enveloped the slip in chilly blue tones, but made it significantly more legible. Locke mumbled the first number, trying to compare it to their memory of this floor’s layout.

The Lampent creaked ominously as it lifted a wiry arm and pointed in the correct direction.

“Er, thanks,” Locke said few octaves higher than usual, then shuffled off further down the rows.

Skipping Lampent!

Okay, they were positive this was right grave.

Row 8, lot 9. That’s where Locke were standing. The name on the headstone was a letter off, however. Maybe the client misspelled it? But who named their Pokémon Porchie?

Just as he was fearing the lot number was wrong and he’d have to go searching every single grave in the mountain, one of the letters shifted ever so slightly in silent, barely-contained laughter.

“Oh you think that’s funny huh,” he said as he pulled out a Pokéball and tapped the Unown before it could fly off. “Now who’s laughing?”

Locke fell back with a yelp as the Pokéball burst open in their hand, releasing the now-aggressive Pokémon. Its single eye glowed a dangerous red, before it lashed out with psychic energy. Before the Hidden Power could reach them, however, Dee-Dee raised a finger in the air and redirected the attack towards herself with a quick Follow Me.

Locke took the split-second opportunity to pull another Pokeball from his bag, summoning an Absol to stand beside his Indeedee. “Helping Hand, then Night Slash!” Dee-Dee clapped her hands together, conjuring a bright white aura around herself, then spread her arms apart and surrounded Shi-Shi with the same positive energy. The empowered canine lunged into the air and struck the Unown with her claws, knocking it to the ground, where Locke threw another empty capsule at it.

Attempting to catch the Unown again!
