The Audino cried out in the middle of the room, weakly struggling against the belts keeping it affixed to the metal table it was wired to. Wires stretched across the room in a neat and organized manner, directed towards a few machines in the room. The primary machine was housing the mysterious jewel retrieved from the robbery of the Department Stores. The other machine, which was closer to their test subject, was an energizer machine, one that was designed to take in several types of Special Attacks, in order to provide energy to the test subject, should it be needed.

Dorian sat at one of the chairs, while Mister Bigglesworth, his Torracat, walked up to the trapped Audino. The vicious Torracat would taunt and threaten the Audino, giving it threatening gestures. This would cause the pink Pokemon to start crying, and weakly struggle against its restraints. Though it was clear that the Torracat had enough discipline not to actually harm their test subject, it would still take delight in the terror and sadness of the Audino.

"So where could our good doctor be?", Dorian mused aloud.

Emma wasn't the torture type. She much preferred a quick and well-executed end.. however, this wasn't meant to result in the Audino's death.[break][break]

Apparently, whatever the jewel had been that she'd stolen from Mauville city with @knowles, it was important. Scientists were anxiously crowding their desks and keyboards, furiously typing away and jotting down notes. They seemed incredibly nervous and excited all at the same time.[break][break]

Emma was neither.[break][break]

As the Audino cried out in fear, strapped to the metal table, Emma inspected her nails. This wasn't how she had intended to spend her afternoon, but when she was told to do something, she did it.[break][break]

The woman glanced up idly as Dorian's Torracat approached the Audino to torment it. She sighs, leaning against a wall behind her.[break][break]

"Isn't that a little childish? The Audino isn't a toy, Dorian."[break][break]

Another voice speaks up not too long after, waving the two beasts down.[break][break]

"We're starting the experiment soon. Please stand back, but we might need your help. Whoever brought us this Audino left it half dead and weak. I'm afraid it may perish before we can finish the experiment. We have it hooked up to this machine here--" the scientist gestures to a separate machine hooked up to the Audino, one reading off its vital signs as well as providing it some support.[break][break]

"If anything happens, please do your best to keep the Audino alive."[break][break]

Emma stares in surprise and mild disgust at the whole situation she was in. The entire mission seemed sketchy and unpredictable, and she wasn't at all interested. Alas, she had no choice but to participate and help.[break][break]

"You heard the man, better stop scaring that thing before you give it a heart attack."[break][break]

"Mister Bigglesworth knows better than to actually harm the thing. Despite his appearances, he's disciplined enough not to attack something when I tell him not to. It's part of how he's lasted almost as long as Smoochie Duckie.", Dorian told Emma in a rather casual manner.

Such words were of very little comfort to the Audino, who was still flinching and crying at the sheer presence of the Torracat in front of it. There was no way it could run away, or fight back, so all it could do was cry pathetically. But as the scientist called for them to stand back from the machine, Dorian called for Mister Bigglesworth to come back to them, even producing a treat for the Torracat to get it to come back to his side.

"There's a good boy~", Dorian cooed, petting the Torracat, who gave an affectionate purr, and rubbed his head against the Mad Dog to match. Dorian felt no need to respond to Emma, considering that upon hearing the man, he was already getting his Torracat to stop toying with the poor Audino.

Before the machines would start up, all the Audino could do was look on in fear at the humans, and around the room in general. The Audino would let out a cry of shock and pain as the machines flared up, and began to do their thing to it. From there, Dorian would watch the monitors on the Audino's vital signs. At first, things seemed to be going relatively fine with the procedure. That was, until the Audino's vitals started to go down.

Just hearing Dorian repeat the Torracat's name made her cringe. Her thoughts go back to her encounter with jacob berwick and her blatant dislike for 'pet names'. However, knowing that Dorian didn't give a damn what she thought about his choices, she says nothing.[break][break]

Emma's eyes remain locked on the crying, squirming Audino. It's pathetic attempts to free itself are almost amusing if you were into displays of that sort of thing. [break][break]

She doesn't break contact even when Dorian praises his Pokemon for returning. She does notice that the Torracat required a treat, an incentive, for it to return to his master. Truly obedient Pokemon only needed to be told once, not coaxed.[break][break]

Her hand flies to her array of pokeballs as the experiment begins. It only takes a couple of minutes for the Audino to immediately begin to drop. The scientists cry out in surprise but are hurriedly watching.. something that seems to be changing on their screens.[break][break]

"It's too weak for this. This was a mistake on their part."[break][break]

Fortunately, she isn't the type to let an innocent being suffer. The goal here was to keep it alive long enough to conduct the experiment. They weren't going to get paid if they failed.[break][break]

In a couple flashes of light, Emma releases Joltik and Salandit. The two stand, equally confused, in the centre of the room. They both look to the rapidly deteriorating Audino in unison before looking at each other. [break][break]

"The Audino may need a boost. On my command, start powering up that machine it's connected to."[break][break]

Dorian didn't need to be told what to do from this point onward. It wasn't that he didn't like to see the Audino suffer, he could care less. It was the fact that they needed the creature alive for the experiment. If anything, Dorian figured they should've continued their hunt, or at least given the Audino more time to heal, before they put it through this. Had they managed to at least get someone more low key to go into Mauville, or another nearby location, to take it to a Pokemon Center, then they'd have better off.

But this was what they had to work with.

"Mister Bigglesworth, shoot a Flamethrower right into the center of the machine!", he'd tell the Torracat, pointing him towards the large box with the black panel in the center of it.

The Torracat would nod, positioning himself nearby, before unleashing a jet of flames at the panel. The panel, as intended, would absorb the fiery attack, turning it into energy that would go directly to the Audino it was attached to on the other side. But what good it would do was yet to be determined.

It appears that even with the machine attached to the Audino, it has no hope of surviving the painful experiment. One had to wonder what was actually going on here, and why it was absorbing so much of the pink Pokemon's strength.[break][break]

Emma watches idly as Dorian makes the first move. His Torracat powers up the nearby vitals machine with a flamethrower. It seems to sate the needs of the machine for now, but it definitely required more juice.[break][break]

"Help power it up. Take turns if you need to."[break][break]

She's calm, maintaining her typical cold front. [break][break]

Salandit and Joltik move forward, the Joltik spraying the machine with electro-webbing. The electricity helps boost and jumpstart the machine. Emma can see the electricity spark and travel back and forth between the cables and the Audino.[break][break]

The poisonous salamander steps up next to the Torracat, mimicking his flamethrower. Both flames are absorbed by the machine. [break][break]

Emma glances back at the Audino, eyes narrowing as she tries to determine the state of the beast.[break][break]

It seems to be helping the scientists though. They grow more and more excited around their machines and gadgets. [break][break]

"Very good, you two! Keep it up, and we should be able salvage this project!", one of the scientists chimed in excitedly.

Dorian looked to his Torracat, and to Emma's Pokemon. Deciding their was no harm in bringing out more Pokemon to assist in the effort to energize the Audino, Dorian brought out another one of his Pokemon. A proud-looking Pyroar manifested from the now opened capsule.

"Sir Fluffsworth Hotman, I need you to fire a Flamethrower at the black panel on the machine, alongside Mister Bigglesworth!", Dorian told the Pyroar.

The two fiery felines concentrated on the black panel, before firing a Flamethrower into the device each.

Emma wasn't interested in the happy-go-lucky encouragement the scientists were giving them. She was merely trying to keep the Audino alive long enough to warrant a reason for being here.[break][break]

In fact, she barely notices when Dorian brings another Pokemon into the fray to help boost the machine. It seems that with their combined efforts teh Audino's vitals are stabilizing.[break][break]

Unfortunately, they aren't out of the woods yet. The experiment was nowhere close to being finished, and therefore they still had a long ways to go.[break][break]

"Keep it up."[break][break]

She sounds gruff, but she's honestly just feeling the smallest bit of anxiety for the Audino. Innocent beings losing their lives over greed was not something she particularly enjoyed. Her eyes narrow as the scientists give her a thumbs up.[break][break]

They promptly lower their eyes to avoid direct eye-contact with the intense woman. If Emma hadn't been getting paid for this, this sort of behaviour was the type of shit she culled immediately.[break][break]

Salandit and Joltik continue their efforts in providing energy to the machine.[break][break]

It seemed like things were starting to go smoothly. The scientists looking over the Audino's vitals seemed to be excited with what they were seeing. Though they were still in need of energy, things were finally looking up for the experiment.

"Keep it up, you two!", Dorian chimed in in a sing-song manner. He would look back over to the Audino, who was crying out in pain as it was being subjected to the effects of the machine. Only the other machine being powered by the energy provided by the two Beast's Pokemon was keeping it alive and conscious at this point. It wasn't that Dorian felt empathy for the thing, it was a lab rat now. But he had a vested interest in keeping the thing alive, for the glory of Team Rocket.

Mister Bigglesworth and Sir Fluffsworth Hotman would continue to spew streams of fire into the black panel, which would absorb the fire, and convert it into energy that would heal the Audino. But would it be enough?

This was the final stretch. She could hear the scientists growing more and more eager, their voices were low but full of anticipation. Some of them were anxiously tapping on their keyboard, others were writing down notes.[break][break]

Audino was quiet now, perhaps unconscious due to the experiment. Whether it was alive or not was questionable at this point given the vitals machine may or may not have broken due to their attacks.[break][break]
