The work space is unassuming. It resides in the deck below the offices reserved for Rocket's highest elite. Although there exists an office up there for the admin they call 'The Fox', however, it is empty almost year-round save for the maid who comes in to dust it. Remiel Calcifet, in the meantime, the man behind the mask, uses the office assigned to him as an 'executive' instead.[break][break]

Truth be told, it is one of the finer executive offices anyway: if only because it has a nicely sized window with a view of the ocean seafloor below.[break][break]

As the spectacled executive works on organizing the The Fox's reports at his desk, there's a light knock at his door. "Come in." He answers, setting down a golden-gilded pen and settling back into his cushioned chair. The door gently glides open to the ghostly telekinesis of his pink Sinistea. With a polite bow, Earl Grey escorts the man he's been sent to retrieve inside: none other than Rocket's infamous Beast, oscar clayton .[break][break]

Remiel rises from his seat and calmly walks around his desk, an exquisitely carved marvel with Cherry and Myrtle Burl Veneers, a dark rich finish and Greek column motifs on the front and corners. "Thank you for coming, Oscar," He nods, a practiced smile on his expression as he extends a hand to shake. "I hope you weren't too inconvenienced."[break][break]

As the door opened, Oscar's eyes widened slightly. The office Remiel chose to meet in was something else, a beautiful symbol of his rank and experience. Oscar whistled as he walked inside, taking in the extravagance as Remiel extended a hand in greeting. Oscar nods, grabbing the hand firmly for a polite shake. "No inconvenience at all. Love the office, remind me to apply for Admin next time there's a slot open. I could use a place like this."

Oscar's GMH office was nothing to write off, but he couldn't exactly talk 'business' at his place of work. He had an office on the sub, but it might as well have been a glorified cubicle with how basic it was. He felt a twinge of shame every time he had a meeting there, an upgrade was severely needed. With pleasantries out of the way, Oscar stepped forward. He reached into his coat and pulled out a red pokeball, the reason for their meeting today.

"Charged it this morning so it should be good for at least two hours. Where did you want to let it loose?"

Remiel raises a brow. "Is that so? There's a position open now, with Emma Wolfe being AWOL. She was a former beast as well, just as you are now." He adds, gently setting himself back against on the front edge of his desk as he crosses his arms. "I'm sure Walsh and the underbosses have their own candidates in mind, but you have my recommendation if you really want it."[break][break]

Seeing Oscar step forward and present a shiny red ball, the admin smiles. Then, gesturing towards one of the matching chairs between them, he rises off the edge of the table. "Please, sit, if you'd like. We have a bit to discuss before we take a bathysphere to the surface." Sauntering towards a bookshelf nearby, he slowly begins to run a finger across the spines of literature.[break][break]

"How much progress have you made with UB-03? Does it listen to you well?" He casually inquires, almost as if he were asking how Oscar had enjoyed his lunch.[break][break]

Oscar looked away as Remiel brought up Emma. That was a sore subject for Oscar currently, he had no idea where his mentor had gone but the possibilities made him sick to his stomach. Oscar shook his head and shrugged, "The position's been filled. There's a lotta politics involved with those admin positions, I could never bother to make an effort in time. I'll keep your words in mind for next time though."

Oscar forced himself to brighten up, taking a seat when prompted. Before they began the field test, it would seem Remiel had some inquiries. Oscar was surprised when Remiel brought up Xurkitree, though the proud trainer was more than happy to discuss it. "There was a learning curve, but it has settled in comfortably by now. Rigorous training has made it a loyal member of my team." Oscar owed a lot to his Xurkitree, so he tended to hold it up on a pedestal.

Oscar raised an eyebrow and lounged back in his chair, "You'll be pleased to know that, despite their alien nature, Ultra Beasts are like any other pokemon. They learn, they love--they submit."

Staying up-to-date on the latest rumours, dealings, and predictions had been part of his job for nearly two years now as a politician. It was no surprise to him that the position of fourth admin had already been filled so quickly: that and the third were typically a revolving door. As the longest tenured admin in the Hoenn branch to date— save for THEO BECKETT , who'd been with Rocket since the Blackwell era in Kanto— Remiel knew this better than most.[break][break]

If he had to guess, none other than Martín del Mar himself had seized this opportunity. With his wealthy background and sharp wit, he made a splendid choice anyway, the royal thought. All that remained now was to see whether the lad would stick around with the organization for long.[break][break]

"You're not wrong," Remiel concurs, finally finding the book he's been looking for and carefully pulling it out from his bookshelf. "The politics can be quite... draining, at times. Sometimes I wonder if I wouldn't be better suited for something else myself." He sets the book down on the desk. The title upon it reads: The Fall of Tanoby and other legends.[break][break]

"I'm glad to hear UB-03 has settled into your care so well. I was one of the many who'd fought against it in Mauville..." Flashbacks to a Poipole stabbing, Galarian platoons being devoured wholesale by multiple Guzzlord, and GENERAL PHILOMERA's anguished expression melting like candlewax in roaring blue dragon flame.[break][break]

A pause. Then he snaps himself out of it, opening the text and sifting through its pages with a single hand as he hovers over the desk. "Hm. The only Ultra Beast I have under my possession was created in a test tube. Zlato is quite docile, too... have you given yours a name?" He asks, pausing from his sifting of pages to look up at Oscar with a hint of a smile.[break][break]

Oscar seemed surprise at Remiel's question. There was nothing wrong with it, it just took him by surprise. He nodded, "Yes um, I named it Navitas. It means energy in a dead language I read about in college. I thought it was a fitting name, considering its skillset." Oscar had not put much thought into the implications of nicknaming an Ultra Beast; he gave nicknames to all of his pokemon so it seemed only natural to do the same with Navitas.

Oscar bit his lip as he thought over his realization, "I wonder if the people of Ultra Space ever nicknamed the Ultra Beasts they caught. Do you think giving them names contributed to their taming? My Ultra Beasts portray personalities that the Ultra Beasts I fought during the war did not. I wonder if personalities are part of their natures or if they gained them by living here. There's a lot we don't know about Ultra Space when you think about it."

Oscar stared into space momentarily before shaking his head. There would be time for waxing philosophical later. He looked to Remiel with a sheepish expression, hoping he had not embarrassed himself in front of his superior. "Apologies, got lost in my own little world there. Were the ultra beasts what you wished to talk about?"

Navitas? Remiel nods in approval. "Not a bad name, considering. Has it been classified as anything other than UB-03?" He'd thought he'd heard rumours of a name. Something regarding its appearance.

Regardless, the admin takes a moment to think about Oscar's next inquiry. With years of study at Hammerlocke University and plenty of experience training, he never really thought about the impact nicknames might have in a Pokémon's combat capabilities. Then, of course, the fact that Ultra Beasts were alien to this world...

He, too, is lost in thought for a moment before Oscar snaps them both out of their internal musings. "Ah, yes... we'll save that conversation for later." Especially considering he had plans to go into Ultra Space in the future, and he might have need of a Beast.

For now, he rotates the book he's opened across his desk so that his associate may gaze upon the stylized artwork and text upon it:

An image of a man facing down a legendary dragon with a sword (depicted below). A village burning, and its villagers fleeing from smaller dragons. Olde English text reciting a tale of a hero who took it upon himself to rid the land of a corrupted king and the RESHIRAM he commanded.

"You fought in the war. I expect a scene such as this looks vaguely familiar to you..." The royal remarks, gazing upon the artwork himself. "The number of legendary Pokémon forming bonds with Rocket's enemies seems to increase every day. It's for this reason that I've started an initiative: S.P.E.C.T.R.A."

A little lie. Several unspoken truths. But, undeniably, a degree of sincerity as well.

Oscar peered down at the book, absorbing what he saw in silence. He continued to study it even as Remiel spoke, only lifting his eyes once the admin mentioned his new initiative. "Spectra." Oscar repeated, rubbing his neck softly as he leaned back in his chair.

These legendary 'avatars' were indeed becoming a problem. Humans chosen to wield the power of legendary pokemon that rule over all others. To his knowledge Rocket currently only had a hand full compared to the League, and if something was not done about that they would be steamrolled in no time. Color Oscar intrigued.

Oscar said nothing else, instead he waited patiently for Remiel to reveal more about his initiative.

Remiel nods. Then, realizing a proper introduction had yet to be made, he gestures towards the lad (jayden cross ) sitting in the corner of the room. "Ah, yes, by the way: this is jayden cross . jayden cross , meet oscar clayton ." Whether said lad had been sitting silently there to be polite, or to casually eavesdrop on their conversation, Remiel wasn't sure.

Regardless, it was important that the two were filled in on the specifics of the unit he was proposing to them anyway. And it saved much more time having to do so once than two separate times.

As they acknowledge each other, the royal takes a moment to address his assistant on the communication device at the corner of his desk. It appears the bathysphere that will take them to surface is prepped and ready to go.

[break][break] He sits up straight this time, dipping his head towards oscar clayton . "Apologies. Sir, it's nice to see you again." He glances over at the Admin. "We've met — briefly." The two of them had undergone a brief mission together, where Oscar had assessed him on his new Beast title. Of course, there was also the matter of the star soiree, where he'd been glad for the other's company.

Oscar did a double take as Remiel motioned to none other than jayden cross. Caught off guard, Oscar let out an audible gasp as he nearly fell out of his chair. "What the fuck!? Has he been here the whole time?" Oscar quickly grasped the table, regaining his balance as he collected himself. During this entire meeting he had not noticed Jayden, how comically oblivious of him.

Oscar would be forced to move on quickly, as Jayden would soon drive the conversation back to SPECTRA. Oscar tilted his head, suddenly reminded of his own burning curiosity. He turned back toward Remiel and rubbed his chin. "From the context given so far, it would appear this initiative would try to counter avatars under the League's employ. I too am curious how to plan to accomplish this."

Oscar leaned forward, eagerly awaiting the details of this endeavor.

If he'd been a slightly more jovial individual, Remiel might have laughed. As things stood, Oscar's reaction to Jayden garnered an amused little snort.

"Clayton's right. The Special Executive for Counterintelligence, Training, and Removal of Avatars, or S.P.E.C.T.R.A, for short, is a new program we've initiated in response to the League's A.Q.U.A. initiative." He says, reaching down to grab the book by its sides and gently close it shut. Lifting it up off the desk, he rounds the corner next and gestures for them to follow him. "But I'll divulge more as we travel to our next destination, gentlemen. Please follow me to the bathysphere station."

The talent filling this room is enough to change the trajectory of Hoennian history. Remiel firmly believes that. And, frankly, it brings a small smile to his face as he regards it. They were sure to do great things together.

that shock that his appearance draws from the albino rocket alerts a similar emotion in jayden as well. however, it is near-impossible to tell considering the normally impassive nature of the ex-beast. surprise flickers through violet eyes, like the shutter of a window, and a pause stretches in the silence before them before remiel powers on.

[break][break] it is not the first time he's heard such a word, but the burning curiosity is there all the same. he thinks of the powered beings in rocket's employ, and then the one's in league. anything that they can use to get a leg-up on the competition is worth more than cursory interest. he leans forward.

[break][break] nodding obediently, jayden stands to his feet and waits a moment for oscar to lead before following the rocket admin through the doorway.

[break][break] "this is a separate agenda from M.A.G.M.A, correct?" he asks in the hollowed silence of the hallway. he remembers the work of the other initiative by Chu-e Choi , and the effects on bryan delarosa . a similar, but not identical force.

Oscar raised his eyebrows and clicked his tongue once he learned what SPECTRA stood for. A task force to combat avatars? Color Oscar intrigued. He has had it up to HERE with these League avatars causing mischief and whatnot. Imagine 'Here' being really high up, like to the ceiling. He was FED UP!

He jumped to his feet as Remiel motioned to change scenery. Oscar was excited to get this show on the road, Remiel had done a fine job getting him pumped for whatever was next. As their little team left Remiel's office, Oscar would elbow Jayden softly.

"For the record, it's good to see you again. We're gonna nail this shit--whatever it is."
