For all the trashtalking she's done about rangers in general, it's only when she's entrusted with odd errands that she realises how helpful they've been towards the citizens of Sootopolis. Taking out pokemon infestations? Searching for lost pokemon or even stopping pokemon theft? Things like those were typically handled by the rangers faster than the police could ever hope to get to it.

Helping to gather herbs out in the wild? Seemed simply enough when she'd offered to help her elderly neighbour but the further she travels into the forested area, the deeper the dread sinks in. Numerous claw marks litter the trees, signifying the presence of Ursarings in the area. While it isn't mating season for these hungry bears, she knows that underestimating such predators could spell the end for her.

Alas, perhaps she's forgotten that the curiosity of the young can be just as dangerous.

A Teddiursa tugs at her sleeve, a paw resting against its mouth as it cants its head at her presence. Lis freezes, her attention flicking to the young cub then to her surroundings. No movement as of far, so she might just be fine? It takes a little bit of effort but she eventually brushes the Teddiursa's paw off of her, hopping away and creating some distance between her and potential danger.

"Okay uhm... please just... stay away, and we'll all be okay, got it?"

Every step backwards is mirrored by the cub as a brave step forward, the thought of knowing more about this stranger driving it to chase right after. As if things couldn't get any worse, the bushes behind her begin to rustle, a shadow looming over her as a low grow rumbles through the air.

Coming to Sootopolis wasn’t too forgin to him. Razz often adopted a different identity or wore a mask. Now was no different, seeing as this was Sootopolis and his face was incredibly recognizable. For the moment he was looking for more of his pokemon that like to traverse the island when the familiar growl of an Ursaring hit his ears. [break][break]

A growl that promised a threat. Shit. [break][break]

Seeing how he was masked anyways he does return Salem to his pokeball for now as he goes for a different pokemon. By the time he arrives his cutie fly is gathering some honey to hopefully distract. “Hey now there is no need to get violent,” he tries to be calm first. Like a bell the cutie fly shows off some honey from her hoping to distract the bear pokemon as it didn’t seem too happy with the other person there.

Strangers to these lands often bring danger with them. To this Ursaring, all humans are threats to the safety of her and her cub, especially when they go around wearing strange masks. When the offering of honey is made, she's definitely distracted but probably not in the way that the masked figure expects.

She roars, swiping at the Cutiefly and swatting it right out of the sky, peace offering and sweetness be damned. This is her territory and that Teddiursa is her child - She has no intentions of playing nice with those who intrude, whether intentionally or not.

Even so, the brief window of opportunity that this distraction provides is all the Lis needs to run to the other, uncaring of his get-up in favour of obtaining help to get out of this situation.

Seems like it didn’t want to listen. Even when the Cutiefly tried so hard. [break][break]

The ranger just sighs knowing full well the reason why she was angry, he just wished he could do this a more peaceful way. At least it wasn’t mating season. “Because you needed help, and it’s a ranger’s job to help deal with any pokemon related issue,” he says sincerely, as it was the only reason he needed to step in. [break][break]

As he returns his pokemon to her pokeball he puts a hand up. “And when I say go, start running,” he tells her as he waits. Waits for the moment that the Ursaring starts to come at them. Not yet… [break][break]

It continues before giving a small jump, “Go!” He orders and with that a fireball is sent at the normal pokemon, the blast creating an explosion at the pokemon’s feet to blast her back. Wanting to be sure that he could do the minimal amount of damage. After he would run after her should she move.

The explosion goes off and of course it isn’t knocked out because Razz only did hold back because he didn’t want to burn the trees around them. But it does leave the bear burned. Sorry Ursaring, people were dumb sometimes. The masked ranger follows close behind and makes sure to be a barrier between the pokemon and human. ”Its already angry for you’re close too close to its home, and considering the time of year they got Cubs near by,” he clarifies as he looks back and panics some as it was charging up a hyper beam. [break][break]

Once e he is forced to use his abilities as he creates a small explosion behind himself to push himself enough to catch the stranger before doing it again to push them away from the attack.

If it truly weren't for the angry, charging bear trying to maul them, she probably would have just closed her eyes and noped out of having to deal with some sort of pyrokinetic. For all she knew, she could have been dealing with some arsonist at large. After how Sootopolis had been turned upsidedown and inside-out, she really wouldn't have batted an eye at that kind of revelation.

But it's hard to think too much about it when she's suddenly speeding forwards, shock hitting her far too quickly for her to even scream.

The bear seems almost as confused as the girl he was helping as the Ursaring fires shear attack and misses because the Explosion was used to launch himself and the other way. Razz having practiced this long enough now to get th hang of this whole explosion thing. Hopefully she was able to handl herself okay to everything. The Ursaring huffs and growls into the air a threat of staying away from her forest ad her babies as she storms off. [break][break]

Meanwhile Razz huffs behind the mask thankfull to have made it out in one piece with the stranger in.. his… arms. He would quickly let go and hop away from her with his hands up to show he meant no harm, and didn’t want to try anything. For now his mask is definitely hiding his surprise at her when she asked about his abilities. Though maybe the tilt of his head would convey his confusion enough. ”Have.. you not heard of Avatars?” is his counter question to her own. [break][break]

”Umm uhhhh a few of us I suppose?” he answers after he gained some sort of sense as for the time being the Aqua Initiative has now made public about Laurence Anderson and Zac Ramsay, and Stormy Silph was already public.

Dusting any dirt off of her skirt, Amaryllis turns her head away to cough, slightly wheezing but otherwise unshaken by the strange turn of events. Her fingers dip into her pocket, pulling out a handkerchief to wipe her hands clean. "You should probably leave, shouldn't you? Rangers aren't exactly welcome in Sootopolis..."
