Ugh. Izzy always hated doing work at home. No matter what part of Slateport he'd slink around in, he always felt his apartment building breathing down his neck, and the fear of being found out always weighed a little heavier when he lived next door to where he was breaking the law.[break][break]

When it came to smuggling, Slateport was the largest market for it: there were people everywhere, for starters, and it was easier to do whatever the hell you wanted when there were a billion people in the area at the same time. That couldn't exactly be said for the warehouses, but even then, fellow lowlives and troublemakers snuck about in the darkness and paid no mind to whoever else was doing whatever they were doing down here in the muck.[break][break]

As for now, he and his partner were just waiting... their drop would get here soon, he'd been told. The piece of paper crumpled in his pocket said three am sharp, and then they just had to get it to the route to the north.. whatever it was. Staying up late didn't bug him too much, but checking his watch and seeing 3:25 made him burn up. He pulled his jacket a little closer around him and grumbled to the grunt nearby.[break][break]

"You'd think they'd turn up on fucking time for something like this. Some fucking drop. Imagine all this waiting around, and it ends up being something stupid?"[break][break]

Mumble, grumble. He fiddled his fingers together beneath his sleeves. Even with Hoenn being so tropical, the weather got colder from this time of year onwards, especially in the nights. He spoke again, this time turning to face his compatriot. "You cold?". He knew how to care, just a little bit, about other people.

horrible.

it's too late, too cold, and he's too sleepy to be his usual optimistic self about this. but then again, it's quite rare for danny to show aspects of how he used to be. now, he's more serious, and even a little bit pessimistic at times.

it sucks, honestly.

at izzy's question, danny chuckles, not realizing that he's been shaking a little.

"yeah, a bit. not sure how to fix that without drawing attention, though."

he smiles.

"i'll be fine."

He almost laughed at that - it was right, after all. Just because it was shady dealings didn't mean that it had to be stupid-o-clock all the time. "I dunno, but it's bullshit. I've got shit to be doing"[break][break]

As his partner affirmed that he was, indeed, cold, Izzy sighed. Under the frosted-ice exterior, behind those frowning eyes and permanent scowl, Izzy had somewhat of a heart - just a little bit, only sometimes - and he was used to being awake at night, anyways. He slid his coat off with one motion and held it out in Danny's direction - "Take it" - not even looking at him, as though he might get caught red-handed being caring. [break][break]

The moon, bright and full in the autumn air, gleamed down at them. Back here where streetlights thinned out, it was a steady source of light - cooler and deeper than that of the city - and always present. Always watching. It made Izzy's skin almost crawl, if he thought about it too hard.[break][break]

danny eyes the coat for a few moments, wanting to protest, but ultimately, another chill forces him to accept the coat. he slips into it, tugging it over his chest.

"...thanks."

he sighs, shrugging a shoulder.

"pokemon, i think. i heard they liked to make us move crates of them. dunno why they can't be in their pokeballs, though..."

probably because they're stolen.

"Don't worry about it" - seriously, if Danny thanked him again, Izzy felt like he was gonna maybe die or explode or something. Social skills, huh? Who?[break][break]

He raises a brow briefly "They probably don't have Pokeba-" but he's cut short by the noise of their delivery. Cacturne - spiked, angry, shiny. It looked strong, which was a negative and a positive. Meant more money, probably, but also meant if things got fucked, they might each end up with a spattering of thorns in the eye or something. [break][break]

Seeing the thing fight back against it's confinement makes Izzy very glad he had Myszko - a feeling he rarely felt - compared to a ground type or something that would have struggled to hold it's own against the Scarecrow Pokemon.[break][break]

steeling himself, he takes a deep breath, steps forward, then reaches a hand out only to realize that he doesn't need to be doing this himself. so he calls out a pokemon instead.

"bud, i'ma need you to help us carry this."

the megaross vibrates in a PSYCHIC, lifting it to rest atop its head.

Why did it have to be a violent cactus? Couldn't it have been something smaller and easier to box? Teeny tiny shiny JOLTIK? Even UNOWN! They were all the rage nowadays! And delightfully easy to cram into something and not get, like, spiked through the skin by. It couldn't have just been something like Unown.[break][break]

Luckily, his partner had brought a Metagross - a much smarter idea than it would've been bringing Izzy's own GOTHORITA. [break][break]

"Whoever buys this thing needs to invest in a Soothe Bell. Or, like, fifty of them. They make your Pokemon love you or some shit, right?" Not that Izzy would know - he didn't need anything like that, though the implication that he loved and adored his cutesy widdle babies was enough to embarrass him to death, so he didn't dwell on that thought too long.[break][break]
