Today's menu: ground-type Pokemon. Specifically? Diglett.

For whatever reason the little mole men Pokemon from hell were being purchased for top dollar. She'd slipped up on producing Gastly before-hand, but she wasn't missing out on a good payday this time.

Hopefully.

Unfortunately, she isn't alone to muddle with her thoughts and kick stones and think about ways to avenge her brother-- someone else is here with a nervous little voice and a Pokemon named Joules.

And it isn't even wearing jewelry.

"Uh.. hi. That thing isn't gonna explode, is it?"

He relaxed when he could finally see the stranger as she moved into the little bit of light he carried. His partner for the most part stayed with their eyes trained on her, but Paxton relaxed a bit. He gave her a small nod before shaking his head at Remi. "No, they're mostly harmless to be honest." He said. Just as he did, Joules let out three, deep toned beeps before flying off into the darkness. They could both hear his metal body smash into something else they couldn't see. Then, a Skarmory skittered out of the darkness, pushed out by the Magnezone to continued to attack it without mercy. It fell to the ground and Joules beeped three more times to inform the blonde they were done. Without another thought on the matter Paxton dropped a pokeball on Skarmory before turning back to Remi, as if they were just leisurely picking up apricorns to roast. [break][break]

"Are you coming from Verdanturf Town?" he asked all too casually despite his pokemon having pushed around something else so easily. "I heard its pretty close after this tunnel." he added. [break][break]

With a slow blink, Remi watches as this guy explains how his Pokemon and species like it are mostly harmless, only for said Pokemon to immediately launch into the deep dark of the cave and beat the shit up out of a Skarmory.

"Sure, buddy."

Fortunately, it seems the Magnezone has interrupted what was a pretty poor feast a whole flock of Skarmory had been having on a bunch of Stunfisk. Now, by this point, most of them were probably already picked apart. But one in particular was left flapping about in the dirt, desperate to either be released from its torment or be thrown back into the water.

Or wherever they came from, actually.

"Sure. That's where I'm comin' from."

And it was, probably, she just didn't care to think too much about it or give this weird dude the time of day. She tosses a pokeball at the remaining alive Stunfisk before glancing back at the mean metal machine that had just single-handedly taken out a metal bird.

She seemed doubtful after the powerful display of Joules’ blunt force but…well yeah. That was a little intimidating. But hey, sometimes you needed intimidating. Sometimes it just helped you avoid fights. As Joules regarded Remi, he blinked at her slowly having noticed that cat pokemon tended to do the same to show someone they were harmless. Or something like that anyway. It probably just made him look even creepier. [break][break]

“Ah, ok.” Paxton said going quiet as he debated whether he wanted to continue the conversation or go on about his day. The stomping of a Nidoqueen pulled away his partner’s attention who began to eye the dual type as she regarded the pair of humans invading her turf. With a sharp cry, the Nidoqueen charged at them. Paxton afforded the pokemon a glance before Joules intercepted, angrily shoving the pokemon back before once again, going at her. “I hear that place has strange herbal remedies that work better than normal potions….are you visiting for business or pleasure?” [break][break]

"Why are you slow-blinking at me? It's creepy, dude, stop."

It quite literally makes her shy away from him, avoid making eye contact. She blinks rapidly, trying to break the spell that he's definitely trying to put on her. Why are people such weirdos?

Fortunately, wild Pokemon continue to meander past. In this case, a Nidoqueen challenges the pair of them and is quickly put down by the man's 'mostly harmless' tin can. As it skids to a halt by his feet and he sucks it up into a pokeball, Remi glances back up at the guy. He seems so nonchalant despite his clearly defined power.

Hoenn people were nuts, confirmed.

"Can't a girl have both? Business and pleasure?"

The bit about the herbal remedies didn't intrigue her, she was just here to be sarcastic and snarky. Though.. now that he mentioned it, maybe that was something she should be looking into. Better than normal potions? Huh.

One of the nearby boulders turns out to be a not-boulder in the shape of a Golem. Remi's Pangoro makes short work of the Pokemon- though not with the same confidence and apparent strength as the Magnezone, that thing is a beast. With both paws, he slams down on the rock-type Pokemon with a grunt.

And does it again and again because Golem is a badass, apparently, too.

But it eventually falls and Remi captures it.

“Poor Joules…” he murmured, laughing weakly as the Steel type quickly turned its gaze away from Remi. They return to his side, decidedly turning their eyes away form the woman and keeping watch in every direction but her own. The blonde meanwhile just shrugged. “Sounds disappointing if that’s the case.” He said simply. Who wanted to work on their vacation? Not that he was one to talk. This was forced leave after all.

The noises of their battles seemed to have summoned a Durant, curiously looking for scraps of whatever battle had occurred. It’s met instead with a full-on body slam from Joules, sweeping it backwards as
Paxton deliberated on catching the poor thing. Joules and their prey move past a tired looking Numel who slowly ambled away from the fight. “To be honest…Verdanturf is pretty…lackluster to me. Unless you’re into coordinating, I don’t see a need to go there. I was curious about the tunnel though.” He explained. His roundabout way of saying he was super bad at conversation and just trying to be polite.

"Hm. You might be right about that."

Remi watches, doing her best to not appear bored, and purposely avoiding staring at the Magnezone as much as he does to her. Pokemon could be such weirdos, it was why she kept her ranks so small.

That and she was lazy and probably a terrible Pokemon trainer in terms of attention to each one. Go ahead, League, call Pokemon services.

"I take it you're here for pleasure, then?"

He knew city names, but he was describing them as if he were also just passing through. She's honestly surprised to see that he doesn't have a journal out jotting down notes.

Before Paxton can answer, there’s a suddenly rumbling. Not an earthquake, but like something heavy was moving through, behind them the ground began to shake, and Joules beeped loudly floating over Remi and Paxton, to get between itself and the wild Steelix that was moving through. Blue eyes light up and he nodded to Joules. “Subdue it.” He ordered as his hand moved to grab a pokeball. The Magnezone is more than happy to oblige shooting off lie ka canon to begin bashing the Steelix in head-to-head?? Combat. [break][break]

He nodded at the woman. “Obligatory fun. Boss’ orders.” He said with a small shrug. Not that it hadn’t doe him wonders. Within just a couple of days the bags under his eyes had begun to disappear, and he had eaten his meals somewhat more regularly. Hell, he actually remembered what he ate this time. “I’m staying in Rustboro, and this tunnel was within walking distance.” He added. “What about you?” he asked after a while, unsure if that was the polite move or simply staying quiet. She didn’t seem like she wanted to discuss her business but…conversational reciprocity dictated he ask so…

She's felt that sort of weird disturbance. It wasn't an earthquake, but a Pokemon. This time though, the influence it has on the tunnel is much more intense than the one she'd felt before. Whatever it was, was either bigger, or closer to them.

Turns out it's both.

And somehow, this guy here just says 'subdue it' and his Pokemon just does it. A giant fucking Steelix pops out of the tunnel to devour them both and his balls are so huge he just says 'yeah thats fine'.

Remi blinks, taken aback by the entire situation and honestly, probably a little turned on. It's not every day someone flexes that hard, okay?

"Boss' orders, huh?"

She has to wonder who this boss might be, or what it is this guy even does. She tilts her head, unsure what to make of him. He's certainly interesting.

"Like I said, I'm just visiting."
