Melody looked over to Greyson Connors . She was surprised someone was asking her what the league could help with here, no one really ever asked her something like that before, she was just a pretty face that could battle well.[break][break]

"UhhHhHhHhhH." She said not really sure what to do and was visibly confused by such a question. "Well. It may sound Naïve but maybe just providing hope I think." she said scratching the back of her head as she smiled awkwardly. "I know it sounds cheesy but what Hoenn needs desperately right now is hope, everything looks bleak." she said. [break][break]

"I'm not really good at logistics or politics or anything like that, hell my own city is in tatters." she said as she tossed out a pokeball containing her heatran named upchuck.. There was apparently a pokemon infestation that Melody had been called out to handle so she arrived quickly in her costume. [break][break]

"But if people see me out and about still working for the good of the region, maybe they'll believe in the league more?" she grinned as she soon found something they can do. She had heard from some of her assistants at her gym that the outskirts of slateport were currently suffering from a pokemon infestation and she just happen to find a nest of a bunch of pokemon there. "For now, we can clear out some of these pokemon and either get them adopted by civillians or relocate them to somewhere safer for people and themselves!" she said as Upchuck the heatran began to drool lava and some pokemon arrived to defend their turf.

he listens, letting the gym-leaders words sink in. hope had it's place, but... he wasn't quite sure it was enough here. he'd seen the disparity between the league, and it's people; how out of touch they all were in the grand scheme of it.

perhaps he too was no different. maybe they didn't want help, but just to be left alone.

he sighs, forming a thin line with his lips, and nodding.

he himself doesn't sound convinced. but, he doesn't have time to contemplate it as two pokemon step into frame.

he decides to go with a newer addition to his team, one he hadn't quite had the time to work with in the field. the floatzel appears, standing tall on hind quarters. greyson nudges his head in the direction of the dustox.

eager to please, or perhaps, eager to fight, the floatzel obeys. a clean SONIC BOOM knocks it out of the air, while a SWIFT keeps it that way. greyson tosses a ball, encapsulating the creature inside.

Melody had seen how he reacted to what she said. Did he disagree? She had no idea, he was kind of hard to read but then again Melody was also awful at reading people's expressions. Thanks to that though, she was also a very direct person as she liked to clear up confusions. "What help do you think they need? I'd be open to any ideas, I just want to help.". [break][break]

He was going to handle the dustox that seemed determined to interrupt their conversation and it had a friend. A liepard, Melody turned her attention towards the creature and upchuck did as well, still drooling. "Heatran! Stone edge!" she asked and he obeyed as a flurry of rocks flew towards the Liepard and managed to knock it out rather quickly from the critical hit. Melody then tossed a pokeball at the Liepard and tried to capture it.

he appreciated someone who was direct. it was an often difficult thing to do, but it saved time. "i'm not sure. i'd start by asking the residents, i think. any implementation without their input might end up poorly." he was no politician, or gym-leader, but could he still help? he was willing to try.

"that's an impressive pokemon, though. fought one of them recently with Stormy Silph. gave us a run for our money." he didn't envy the outbreak of wild-pokemon. standing before that heat had been miserable, and the showers for days afterwards even worse. beside him, the floatzel chirps up, something between a high-pitched hiss and a honk. without even waiting for greyson's go ahead, it's fighting the newly emerged stunky.

the fight doesn't last long, and soon enough, he has another pokemon to add to the pack.

He made a very good point, one that Melody hadn't even really considered. Why not just ask them directly? It would probably make them happy to have their voices heard... "That's some very sound judgement, one I hadn't really considered. Heh, maybe you should be the gym leader instead of me." she jested awkwardly as some of her negative opinions of herself slipped out. [break][break]

He complimented her pokemon she chose and Melody smiled "Thanks haha, mine's a bit of a goof though. I nicknamed him upchuck, I could show you why if you want to see why I did." she grinned as melody saw a foongus creeping around the corner to try and sneak into a nearby vent. Melody quickly tossed a pokeball at the creature and tried to catch it before it could go into the vents and kill someone with it

he chuckles nervously, patting his hair down. "my dad considered running for public office when he retired from the league. we talked strategy alot. i don't think i'm fit to be a gym leader." funny how things end up.

the floatzel nearby sets off in PURSUIT of a nearby venonat. he dogs a POISON FANG, lifting his tails to disorient the bug-type, before delivering a point-blank SONIC BOOM. it collapses, and greyson captures it.

"And why is that?" she asked curiously "Being a gym leader's not all about strategy ya know." she explained as she put up a finger to pause this conversation as a Muk had made it's presence known with that foul ass stench of his. She gagged a little bit but managed to keep it together. [break][break]

Greyson had then asked why she had named him upchuck to which melody pulled out a small little pouch, from the sound of her moving the pouch around it sounded like there were rocks inside. "Upchuck! Lava plume!" she orders as she lobs the bag of rocks to upchuck who consumes it and immediately swallows it. Upchuck then obeys it's command as it throws up a barrage of lava upon the muk, burning the pokemon and creating a green lava left over the area. Melody then began to move her hands around like a conductor and the heatran began to make a sculpture out of the lava in the area, creating a green display of a muk there. [break][break]

once she was pleased with the display she tossed a pokeball at the creature. "He and I make statues together out of his lava. He eats specific minerals that cause the lava he creates to change colors. I only learned of it cause I saw that there were green beaches in alola cause of mineral deposits having a huge amount of I think it was...olivine ore?" she questioned as she couldn't recall exactly. [break][break]

"He also drools lava a lot." she says as she sends out her primarina to cool the statue off and set it with a sparkling aria at minimum power. It was then that civilians came out, noticing melody there creating a new sculpture and came out to look at it. a bunch of kids were especially excited cause now they had a new "monster" in the neighborhood to play pretend on. A small smile grace her face, pleased that they had enjoyed the new statue.

Ferroseed began to spin and braixen used her psychic power and lifted it and began to sping him on the stone to smooth it out like sandpaper. Once her pokemon were done smoothing the statue out, smeargle began to paint on it as well
