The chill of Shoal Cave is deep and penetrating. Even through two shirts, their suit jacket, and a peacoat; Atlas swears they can feel the cold nipping at their bones. When they exhale, their breath comes out a puff of haze. How does a tropical region manage to hide away little, frozen over hells like this?

"Grump, keep close," they order the Houndour at their side with a lopsided grin before looking over their shoulder at their partner for the day.

"You won't object to my girl keeping us warm, will you?"

The question is paired with a flash of teeth and a playful waggle of their eyebrows. A favor and some charm, as good an opening gambit as they've ever had to offer.

Taking a glance at his mission partner for the day, Izzy can't help but feel underdressed. Atlas was wearing a full suit jacket and coat, while Izzy had dressed in a hoodie, sweats and a coat. Shoal Cave got chilly at the best of times what with all the cold little Spheals rolling about in there, he wasn't taking chances![break][break]

He meets the grin with his usual resting bitch face, and shrugs.[break][break]

"Yeah, sure, s'long as she doesn't burn a hole in my sweatpants"[break][break]

The mission was just go find something cool - not a lot to go on. As much as Izzy hated some of the nastier jobs he had to take up in Rocket, the boring ones like this were exactly that... mind-numbingly boring.[break][break]

No smile in return, but the offer is accepted. Atlas decides to push a little harder. Their smile goes wider, grateful, as they nod at Grump. The Houndour walks to a pleasant halfway between them and huffs (once, twice, like a sputtering lighter) before an EMBER springs to life just ahead of her snout.

"I've taught her pretty good control," they start in a friendly tone before they switch to a lower voice, as if sharing a secret, and shoot a sneakier smile their partner's way, "but maybe still don't get too much closer, yeah?"

They'd physically leaned a bit over the gap between themselves and Izydor while joking with him, but straighten back up for introductions.

"I'm Atlas, nice to meet you. I'd offer a hand to shake; but in case you haven't noticed it's fucking freezing in here, and I'd hate to leave the hand warmers in my pockets."

"Ha." Said as dry as sand. "Don't worry, I have a dickhead Salandit at home who burns holes in all my shit. I'm used to a little fireproofing and self care by now" The closest thing to joking Izzy felt comfortable with at the moment, but it was something, at the very least. Not to mention, it was fucking true. Myszko had only recently fire-fanged a smoking hole through a pair of his comfiest socks.[break][break]

He's glad that they move away a little, ever being the grump his is, but of course this only leads to more conversation. Izzy matches their gaze for a moment as they speak, forever surprised by just how easily and brightly some people could smile, as though they'd been doing it all their lives.[break][break]

"Yeah, no shit, it's a fuckin' ice cave. Nice to meetcha too."[break][break]

He begins to head into the cave proper with the Houndour and his mission partner at his side.[break][break]

"You got any helpful skills for caving? I'm a mechanic, so, this is a little out of my area of expertise"
