It wasn’t often that she heard singing on her travels. Well, that was not entirely true. For one, she often had earphones on listening to something when nothing else happened. And even when it came to genuine song, then both herself and her Pokemon certainly went ahead and started something for training or for no reason at all sometimes.

It was hearing random other strangers giving a little concert with their Pokemon that was somewhat rare. Eve at first didn’t even really notice, but since she was walking in that general direction anyway, she eventually simply did, coming closer and closer with the mellow little Primarina at her side. That one still needed some cheer and building up. However, it did seem interested in the music, cautiously going ahead, even.
The sight made her smile lightly as the two of them neared the bench. However, there was rustling in the brush that got both trainer and Pokemon to briefly stop and prepare, just in case this was not some benign visit by wild Pokemon but something of more….import.

Well, that was not exactly a threat. No, not the Rimbombee, she missed that one. After all, her focus was on the whole rustling bush thing. It sounded a lot bigger, after all. However, the Pokemon that ultimately rushed out of the brush was probably not aa threat. Heck, it was seemingly more anxious about all this than they were. Primarina did use Sing on it, instinctively thanks to the training, but it didn’t do as much there, really. That Pokemon wasn’t trying to attack.

No, it had just gotten curious, then self-conscious, then scared and ultimately just rushed forward out of not knowing what to do. Now it was asleep. And Evette decided to use a Pokeball anyway since this one kind of looked cute. Plus, she had a bit of a thing for Pokemon that seemed like they carried issues. She did not exactly know what it was. But it was here and it seemed like a decently easy capture, so attempt it was. All while these other people continued to offer background music for it all of course.

“It is a free country. Especially out here, in the countryside,” she replied with a wink. Certainly, she did not mind random people singing. At the very least not when they were any good at it. Granted, her standards were probably higher than most people’s, but they were not exactly absurd, either. Especially when those singing seemed like they were having fun. That was always the most important part anyway.

Primarina still had fun singing along, too. Only her singing made Pokemon that walked in from Eve’s side go to sleep. Which now involved a very, very surprised Charjabug. Eve kind of felt bad about this still. It was an ongoing problem with Primarina, really. But the Pokemon just looked happy doing it, so she could not bring herself to tell her not to. Instead she used another ball on the newcomer.
“Though it is nice to see that people are still having fun in ways like this. Most people I see being musical these days just can’t do it without filming themselves on their phones.” Ugh, just saying that made her feel so old. But it was true, still. Especially since she had been brought up on classical singing, of course.

The countryside had good acoustics? She perked up a little, hearing that. Frankly, given her classic education and her urbanized upbringing, she had never really considered that. Her world was concert houses, parlors, manors and, during recent travels, urban open areas and the like. She had not often tried the countryside. Sure, she often sang on her travels, too. But it was often difficult to hear herself during that properly, of course.

But she could imagine, now that she was listening to him and his little troupe. “I guess so. Singing without anyone to hear sometimes does feel like a waste. It is an art meant to entertain, after all. Just doesn’t feel complete without an audience to me.” Though that probably was due to her upbringing, too. Not that Evette would know. At the end of the day, she could not escape her nature. Or rather, was it her nurture?
Nature was the thing that drew in more Pokemon, which was rather interesting to watch and listen to. “Though I guess even out here in the wild, one can always find some kind of audience one way or another.”

“I mean, it isn’t outright horrible or anything to sing without an audience,” she mused, lightly scratching the back of her head. This definitely wasn’t something she had considered all that much, though she had to admit that she sometimes liked it. Yet, when she practiced, she hardly ever gave it as much enthusiasm and spirit as she did proper performances. That didn’t really feel like true singing to her anymore.

Though, ironically, she herself had still not joined in on the singing. Primarina already had, though to her own tune, by now downing a passing Honchcrow as well, blissfully unaware of the effect its singing was having on others. It was odd to watch, sometimes. On some level, Prima understood what her singing did to others. But when she just sand for fun, she just didn’t realize that it still had the same effect.

Evette used another Pokeball on the newcomer regardless, sighing slightly. Then, she turned back towards the young man. “I am a singer. As in, professionally. Though I am technically on vacation of sorts right now. Still, most of my experience comes from singing to others, really.”
