An uncomfortable silence arose after Eris's response. Hideo noticed that she didn't answer how far she was willing to go. With all that talk about her fighting other people, he wasn't sure that she'd been honest about it just being a hypothetical question.

An uneasiness found its way in Hideo's stomach. Why did she want to ask that?

Would there be any success in pushing the topic further?

Probably not directly. But indirectly, maybe he could try.

Hideo brought his knees up, huddling close. "I guess if we're talking about hypothetical questions…" he said, thinking over how to word it. "I've kinda thought about what happened with that Sylveon that attacked us. We got lucky that we were able to make it run away, but I was wondering what would've happened if it hadn't run away when it did."

Heck, when it dug its way away from them, he'd been half-expecting it to pop back up and attack them again. It hadn't, but if it had…

"How far would we have had to go to stop it if it wouldn’t run?"

He didn't take her for the kind of person to kill if she had the choice.

He hadn't taken her for a fighter either, but she'd smashed that expectation a number of times now.

After all, a Sylveon was only following its natural instincts. It had yet to be a murderer, unlike the one she so yearned to confront. If she had to be honest, Hideo was perhaps a tad oblivious to the fact that there were fates far worse than death. And blissfully ignorant he should remain when he's got enough things to worry about.

Hideo nodded along as Eris spoke, though it didn't overcome that uneasiness resting within him. He needed to know to what extent she was willing to hurt whoever she had in mind, but he wasn't sure how to properly get around to asking it without directly doing so.

And chances were she'd just evade the question.

But even with her advice, would it be something he'd remember with the Sylveon bearing down on him? Or any other Pokemon, possibly larger and tougher? How many bags of powder would he have to carry around? Would he need that crossbow with him at all times - or even something deadlier?

It really wasn't something he liked thinking about. "I…guess I'll take you up on that offer," he said, though the discomfort in his voice would be clear.

Though as he said that, his Grapploct re-entered the room, his tentacles making a distinct noise Hideo could immediately recognize. "Guess they're done setting things up," Hideo said, standing back up from his spot. His Whimsicott retrieved the fluff he'd been using as a cushion, the grass-type floating off to do whatever he did when Hideo wasn't around.

"I should probably head out. Gotta get some more practice in for gyms." An excuse, yes, but trying to press her further today wouldn't work. He'd have to find a different way of finding out her intentions.

Maybe even find out who she was after. "We can start our lessons another day. Stay safe, Eris."
