The living room is a mess of books, but Killian can't be bothered to clean. He doubts Mars will care. Martín saw his office on the days Slowking hadn't the time to tidy. His home sharing that same clutter shouldn't come as a surprise. [break][break]

Hot air escaped his nostrils, and Killian sank into the cushions of the tuxedo sofa. Five moons came and went since he and Deoxys became one. Aside from Lex, he'd told no one.[break][break]

Today that changed.[break][break]

The Garchomp and Krookodile patroling outside wouldn't bother Mars on his way up the driveway. He needn't bother knocking either. Killian's text told him to walk right in. [break][break]

Briefly, Killian searches himself for how Deoxys is feeling. Wading into the pool of emotions they shared hasn't gotten any easier. The ocean's deep and threatens to drown him if he's not careful. Somewhere within the waters is the faint trace of indifference. [break][break]

"I'll take it." Killian muttered, eyes on the ceiling.

While even Lavaridge happens to have its own bank branch (small as it may be), the town of hot springs and delightful mountainous charm is one rarely visited by Mars. When he does stop by, it’s usually because of work, but on this particular day, his reasons happen to have nothing to do with anything of the sort…

Chelsea boots step upon the path to Killian Decker’s home, his gaze following the Garchomp and Krookodile that seem to have no interest in him at all. Once this is confirmed, he walks towards the door, a hand reaching to knock while the other holds a simple white box bearing the logo of one particular bakery from Sootopolis City.

Can’t blame him for not wanting to pass on the chance, right?

Still, before knocking, there’s a thought that has been bothering him for a while; the question of why Killian asked him to come all the way to his home instead of meeting at their offices like they usually do.

The feline mewed from her perch next to the window. She didn't want to but jumped down and made her way over. On the way past Killian, she flicked her tail to show her displeasure. [break][break]

He laughed. "Thank you." [break][break]

Standing at the end of the hallway that led to the door, Espeon reached out with her powers and pulled it open. She greeted Mars with a meow before sauntering back to her resting spot.

Of course Mars would claim knocking had been intentional, when in fact the simple truth is that even someone like him can forget things with how busy he is. He had lowered his workload because of his recent condition, sure, but Mars being Mars, that’s still more work than what most people are ever willing to do. Maybe he just likes keeping himself busy?

It’s not like he had expected Killian himself to open the door, anyway. Not when he’s all too used to his Slowking doing as much when visiting his fellow admin at the high offices. So, the sight of Loveless is met with a smile, his fondness for the Espeon perhaps being mainly the result of how much he loves his own Delphi.

”Hey, Loveless.”

He takes off his coat when stepping in, closing the door behind him, and when finally finding his friend lounging on a sofa, a brow is quirked even if the same smile remains at his lips.

”Are you too lazy to open the door yourself? I brought you cupcakes.”

Killian shook his head at the feline before turning his attention to Mars. "Are you too lazy to read? My text said to come straight in." the tease came with a smile. One that didn't falter, even at the sight of the cupcakes. [break][break]

He'd spent enough time inside amaryllis karneva bakery to recognize her food. It had to be a coincidence. No way Mars knew about his sister. Killian never brought up having family to him before. And Lis was smart enough to know she shouldn't mention they were related, right? [break][break]

"Espeon and Meowth cupcakes, how cute. Set em down in the kitchen. I'll eat one later." [break][break]

When he met with Lis again, he'd have to ask her about Mars. See if she said anything to be safe. Not that Killian thought Martín would do anything if he knew. Honestly, out of everyone in Rocket, he'd be the only person Killian would tell.

Apparently not, but thankfully for both her and Killian, she just so happened to tell one of the only people who wouldn’t be willing to use her against him if there were ever a reason to do things like those. Mars will keep their secret, but of course, that doesn’t mean he won’t tease Killian about it…

”Believe me, you’ll love them. They’re from this great place back in Sootopolis. Cute baker too, though a little too young for my taste…”

Before Killian can say anything about it and before his facade cracks and he starts laughing, Mars heads into the kitchen to set the box of cupcakes down on the counter. A smirk tugs at his lips, but when returns to his friend’s side and sits on the sectional, all jokes are pushed aside in favour of asking the one question he had wanted to ask ever since first reading the text message:

Mars must be choosing his words deliberately to make him anxious. They did like to tease each other. It's tempting to say something, but he stopped himself. Later. Better to ask Lis and know for sure than say something and play his hand. [break][break]

Killian slouched back and looked to the ceiling. "I found Deoxys."

Killian doesn’t fall for it, but of course, Mars hadn’t expected him to. That would have been too easy, too simple, and just no fun at all. It also would have been stupid of him to let the truth out so easily, and Killian Decker isn’t stupid enough to make mistakes like those. No matter how close they may be, Mars is glad to see that he doesn’t immediately give in and spill it all.

So, he plays along.

”Wow. If you think that, then you really don’t know what my taste is like at all.” He chuckles, leaning back on the couch in an all too relaxed way, but as comfortable as Mars may be, Killian’s next words are way too unexpected.

"I found Deoxys."

He shifts positions in surprise and as if to pay closer attention, back now straight. A myriad of questions crosses his mind: Where? When? How? Yet, in the end, only one is spoken first and foremost as he looks at his friend:

Mars, who is usually so good at hiding his true emotions behind a playful yet ever so calm and collected facade, frowns when hearing Killian Decker’s response, eyes of amber fixing on those as blue as the sky. That sure doesn’t sound like ‘okay’. Far from it, actually. A pokémon that powerful… in someone’s body…Mars may be no scientist, but that sure sounds like a death sentence to him.

”Inside you? How? Like it possessed you or something? …Or, can you control it?”
[break][break]
"It attacked Lex with my own body."
[break][break]
The answer comes in an unexpected form, and Mars frowns even more, because if there’s one person in this whole world that Mars knows Killian would never want to bring harm upon under no circumstances, that’s Alexandra Briarwood. The pain in both his tone and expression makes that even more obvious. And it's because of it that, while now all too aware of the risk, he reaches out, a hand finding it's way to his friend's shoulder.

”Why?” The likely answer is that Lex has probably done something to upset it, but still, if it could harm someone so important to Killian then it’s clearly out of control and dangerous…

"Is Lex okay?"

The comfort's appreciated, he makes that clear with a look into Mars's eyes, but it's too risky. A nudge was all it took to bring Deoxys bearing down on Lex. Killian refused to let that happen to Mars as well. [break][break]

"Yeah, she's uh...." Fine? Okay? Putting up with an impossible situation Killian forced her into? [break][break]

All of the above.[break][break]

He winced, recalling the image of Alexandra Briarwood cowering on the floor, afraid of him. The scorching heat of the sun couldn't compare to how much it pained him. Tears want to flood his eyes but he won't let Martin see him cry. That's an honor reserved for only one. [break][break]

"It's more like we're bonded. Two beings sharing the same body." he picked back up, leaving talk of Lex behind. "It's asleep right now, but I can still feel it. Anxious and angry."

Mars has had his fair share of strange experiences lately, but this may just take the metaphorical cake.

Crown Killian Decker victor and hand him a golden medal, because Arceus be damned, who else ends up having a dangerous alien living inside their body? (Other than Chu-e Choi, obviously, but it’s not like Mars knows the details about that one).

”But, Killian… It’s your body, and Deoxys is in it.”
[break][break]
The sole idea bothers him. Mars has never been much for sharing, and he especially wouldn’t like to share his own being. To have a creature using his body and forcing him to do things he doesn’t want to do sounds nightmarish, and Killian Decker sure looks like he’s living through some kind of horrible nightmare.

”Do you think you can communicate with it?... Bond with it, maybe? I don’t know, Kill. If you’re going to have that thing in you, you’ll have to make sure it won’t be a danger to you and to those around you…”
