"What is this"

That was the text he sent to not one, but two different people in his contacts: Remi Cassel and Cefin Glynn . Cefin because, well, he was a biologist, which meant he held (at the very least) more knowledge than Felix on herbology, or whatever science that was associated to seeds. And Remi...she was sort of a butt dial, but he couldn't really admit that to her. Either way, neither had the slightest clue of the other's existence.

This, along with a string of conversation that followed, led him to where he was now: back pressed against a tree, waiting for the other two to arrive. Hand-dug deep into his black joggers, Felix's fingers traced the rough edges of the mysterious seed.

What could this tiny seed lead too..

The sudden text had been a surprise - judging on their conversation at the speed date, Cefin wasn't quite sure that Felix would ever text him. He'd given him his number willingly and all, sure, but he seemed a little brusque, and while for some it was just an air that didn't destroy friendliness, for others they just didn't like people.[break][break]

Cefin was glad to see that Felix did, indeed, hold friendliness towards him.[break][break]

After the brief conversation, Cefin had agreed to meet him out here in the woods, his own seed in tow, tucked safely in a small bag in his pocket. He smiles as he heads into the clearing, where Felix leans against a wall.[break][break]

"It's lovely to see you again, Felix, I hope you've been well" He greets the other man with a soft smile. "All ready for some gardening?"

The soft man soon arrived, on time, and with a pretty smile across his face. He reminded Felix of an alolan Vulpix.

"I'm ready." Pushing his foot off against the wall, he walked towards Cefin Glynn , his chin lightly jutting out towards the dirt road that explored deeper into the forest. Hands still in his pockets, he began to venture down the path, eyes occasionally surveying the area for any indications of danger.

"Thanks for coming," He spoke out, gaze shifting back onto Cefin.

Soft man indeed, wrapped up warm in a cosy sweater too big for him and his hair at that fluffy just-a-little-too-long phase it often entered when he forgot to book time for a haircut.[break][break]

Felix heads off down the path, and soon enough they're walking side by side, with both looking around the local area. Differently from Felix, though, Cefin looks around in earnest - not so much looking for danger as he is for excitement. Wild pokémon were his life, after all. "You don't have to thank me, Felix, it's nice to be able to spend some more time with you. Plus, I have my own seed I need to plant, too"[break][break]

He pulls the little bag from his pocket and holds it out. "Maybe when they grow together, they can be neighbours" He chuckles.[break][break]

"Have you been to the woods much before, Felix? It's lovely here"

The stoic man's expression deepened into a scowl. For whatever reason, the man's response left this foreign feeling rumbling in his stomach, causing his heart to dip and his organs to grow twisted inside.

it's nice to be able to spend some more time with you...

Was that even true?

Swallowing down these feelings, he averted his gaze back onto the rural path in front of them and further hid beneath a plastered frown across his lips. "Not these woods, no." He responded, coolly, "I haven't been in the region for too long. Everything is still new."

Cefin walks beside Felix in silence for a little bit, while the words permeated in the air. He didn't feel uncomfortable with the quiet - Felix was obviously one of those people who didn't feel the need to fill every space with conversation, and that was perfectly fine. Cefin had spent months in near-silence out camping on his studies, so it was comfortable for him.[break][break]

It helped that Felix interested him - each silence lead to more wondering.[break][break]

"Ah, of course. I moved to Hoenn myself only a few years ago. How are you finding it?" He turns to Felix with a smile.[break][break]

"Oh... what do you think about planting the seeds over there, Felix?" He points to a soft-looking patch of earth slightly further into the woods from the path.

How was he finding Hoenn?

Well, since moving to the region, he's been sent into the spiral of chaos that has been Team Rocket, reconnected with two old friends (Martín del Mar and illeana reyes), taken in August Gallagher, grown closer to BARNABY FINCH, and met a man named mint frost.

So, it's been a lot. At least, socially speaking.

"It's been fine." He shrugged, eyes still pointed forward. "I'm just here for work."

A loose finger caressed the tucked away seed, tracing its outlines and general shape. When Ceri pointed out the nearby patch of soil, he gave the seed one last glimpse before walking forward. "Looks good."

Kneeling, he gave the soil a soft poke before lifting his finger to examine what was left behind. It was moist. "...How far apart should we put them?"

Felix really doesn't seem one for conversation - whether by choice or by the rearing of some kind of anxiety - but luckily for him, Cefin was used to working with introvert-types. He was a scientist, for Arceus' sake. Excluding outliers like Ceri Glynn, most science types he knew tended to be quiet and preferred to keep to themselves. Someone like Felix was actually much further in Cefin's comfort zone than an extrovert was.[break][break]

"That's why I moved here, too. For work, that is. Hoenn has a wonderful variety of wildlife - especially the sealife." He smiles at his dark-haired gardening partner.[break][break]

They pull to the side and towards the soil, and Cefin knelt gently beside Felix to investigate further. The soil was still a little wet, by the way it interacted with Felix's fingerprint - seemed quite perfect.[break][break]

"I don't imagine we'll need to spread them too far from one another. About here and here, I'd say" He gently pokes a finger into the soil in two places, about thirty centimetres from each other. Cefin shrugs his bag from his shoulders and unzips it, pulling a small trowel out. "You can borrow mine if you didn't bring one" He offers, holding the trowel out handle-first.

When Felix looked back up from the soil, Cefin was gone, and in his place, an unfamiliar face made his prescense known.

"I'm good," He replied, eyes drooping back down to the ground. Thing is-- Felix DID need help. Desperately so. But, without a serious emergency urging him to seek guidance, he was stubborn in his solidarity.

The comment alone was enough to cause him to pause.

"...what do you mean?"

Slow movements pulled his gaze back up towards the intruder, his eyebrow arching upward in question. He still didn't need help, but if there was something he should know, then that would be different.

"well, you can't just plant things willy-nilly. will the plant grow? yes. will it take significantly longer than it needs too? also yes." greyson approaches as he speaks, using his hands in an animated fashion as he speaks. when he's close enough to reach out and touch the other man, he drops to one knee, cupping the hedgehog.

"you should prepare the soil — stimulate its GROWTH. here, like this: place the flower in the hole." once felix does, greyson nods towards the hedgehog, and the shaggy but tiny creature shakes it's mane. orbs of mint green light rise like fireflies and sink into the plant, and the soil. it begins to noticeably enrichen in color almost immediately.

Felix watched, silent and attentive, like a child receiving personal lessons. The way the man moved, spoke and gestured screamed of his knowledge of the subject. It wore away at Felix's hard exterior, inch by inch, until the initial hardness to his tone completely faded away.

"I don't," he admitted, eyes now staring back down at the soil. This seed was such a baffling gift to be given.
