Barnaby stomped through the park as if he owned it, because at this point the many trails and hills and trees and meadows were so familiar it felt to a second home to him. By now he knew where the wild Pokémon roamed, their favored spots and the times that they were most active.

As was typical, a STUFFUL came to greet him as he began his usual route. This one was friendly and Barnaby honestly thought about just walking past it in favor of saving a few minutes towards his goal: the EEVEE, of course.

But the STUFFUL had other plans. It was almost too friendly, placidly plodding along after him without a care in the world. When he moved, it moved. When he stopped, it stopped.

"Alright, I get it. Come along then."

After about ten minutes or so the STUFFUL was starting to lose steam and lag behind, so Barnaby simply captured the sluggish thing. He didn't have time to waste on the trivial.

Perhaps that's why an idea sparked in his mind. Right around this time he'd usually stop by the nearby stream and encounter a LUVDISC. Not wanting to make this detour, but still wanting the potential Heart Scale a LUVDISC offered, Barnaby instructed Pepin to go fetch him one of the heart-shaped fish.

"I'll be just up ahead, mon chou. Return when you've caught yourself a Luvdisc."

With his instructions clear, Pepin bolted into the brush. Barnaby watched him scamper off for a moment, grateful to have such an obedient Pokémon, before continuing on his way. He didn't rush, though; instead he went at a more leisurely pace, that was his EEVEE could catch up without too much effort.

Eventually a squeaking cry from behind announced Pepin's return. An understandably freaked out LUVDISC flailed in the tiny predator's jaws, although it surprisingly looked unhurt.

"Bon, Pepin. Let's get her in a Safari Ball now." And Barnaby did just that, the LUVDISC disappearing in a beam of red light.

On cue, just as they were rounding the bend toward their destination, a group of HAPPINY crossed their path. One stood out from the rest - a small, shrimpy looking thing that could barely keep up with its group. It tripped on an exterior tree root and, given the species' bulbous frame, was having a hard time standing back up.

Barnaby's eyes looked down toward Pepin.

"Should we?"

Pepin gave his approval with a vehement nod - why not catch another HAPPINY? They could at least stay true to form. Barnaby didn't need any further encouragement and, with a lazy lob, his third Safari Ball was used.

Now they could really get to business. The only thing standing between them and another EEVEE was time and distance - things easily closed with enough gusto and a good walking pace. Before long they'd once again made it to the meadow. This time, however, there didn't seem to be any scampering EEVEEs about. Odd.

"Pepin, let's split up. You go search that far corner, I'll go over here." He gestured to the left end of the clearing. The two parted way and Barnaby began to explore the undergrowth for any signs of life. It didn't take long before a weak mewing caught his attention.

A thick clump of grasses at the base of a large oak tree called out to him with pitiful, strangled squeaks. Parting the vegetation, Barnaby saw an infant laying there, it's eyes barely open. Had it been abandoned?

Barnaby wasn't going to risk leaving it behind if so. Looks like EEVEE six of seven had been acquired.
