Do they need to hospital? Eva blinks at Matias, glancing back towards the darkening towel beneath her hands. She scans over the marred skin, clearly the result of claws raked down his back. Her gaze flashes towards the knife, considering for the first time. It’s small, delicate, much too petite for the grip of a full-grown man, unlikely a woman as well. Even for Eva it’s small.

Yes. The answer is always yes. The hospital has the tools they need, the medications to prevent infection, human doctors to properly care for him. Unless . . . There’s a reason he doesn’t want anyone to know. Her stomach curls, she assumes this is the fault of Rocket, not just rogue pokemon.

He avoids answering the question, it doesn’t go unnoticed, “Took care of them? What’s what supposed to mean?!” she snaps almost immediately. Due to his current state, she withdraws, refraining from pushing too hard. He needs rest and healing. He seems to be breathing ok and she can get some antibiotics from somewhere to stave off infection. Although it goes against her better judgement, she sighs, hanging her head, “I think we can make due here,” she speaks softly, not happy with it but also not willing to push him in his current state.

The bleeding has seemed to slow beneath her pressure and the healing effects of Blade’s HEAL PULSE.

“I’ll clean these wounds, get you some antibiotics, some pain meds . . . these should heal ok without closing but they’ll leave nasty scars,” more to add to his collection of them, “If I close them, there may be less of a scar,” a thin line vs. a deep gash.

For now, it’s locked away, only to fester into something worse. Deep down, she knows this, but right now there are more urgent things to worry about – like closing these wounds.

“Ok . . . this might take a while,” she sighs, motioning for Blade to bring the wound care supplies to them.

As she cleans his wounds, she seemingly ignores his comment though it frustrates her. The amusement in his tone is like nails on a chalkboard. She finds none of this amusing. Eva bites her tongue as she works, slipping into silence. It’s uncharacteristic and is mimicked in her tense movements that are normally fluid and easy.

It hurts her, but in a different way than it does him. Though the Stun Spore helps, it’s still painful. Where he feels a sting with each throw of her suture, she feels it just as painful in her heart. Though she never falters, she is forced to squeeze her eye shut to clear the blur of the tears that slowly pool within them.

“Of course,” she responds softly to his thanks. There’s no need to thank her, she’s more than happy to give him the care he needs, not just as a patient, but as the person she loves.

Blade collects the used materials to discard, and Eva does turn to leave, stopped by his touch. She pauses, turning slightly towards him again. Her fingertips move gingerly against his palm, savoring the familiar, warm touch.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” she feigns a small smile to hide the lie. This isn’t about her right now, he’s the one their attention should be focused on, “You should get some rest . . . Are you . . . hungry or anything?”
