A few steps behind, Henry follows at a slightly more sedate pace. While the particular appeal of this maze had been much-touted by the locals on his recent foray to Fortree City, his curiosity at the reward thought to rest at the heart of the maze was second to his utter disregard for those countless who had failed already to traverse it. [break][break] These sorts of labyrinths are utterly simple to traverse, and he has done so a handful of times in the past. The notion that so many erstwhile contestants had simply failed to penetrate the depths of the hedge maze is laughable to the man, and so he entered with head held high and a slight air of amusement. [break][break] Ambrose trills warningly as the entrance to the maze ends abruptly at a fork in the path. "Not to worry, Ambrose. Follow one side of the wall the entire way, and we will eventually reach the center - don't let the paths distract you." No sooner has the confident proclamation left Henry's mouth than the walls of the maze seem to shift and stretch, the boughs and leaves rippling into new configurations among the soft calls of hidden grass-type pokemon. [break][break] Of course it won't be that easy. Henry sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose in thought. If his usual tricks will not avail him, he is leaving it essentially to chance and the whims of the pokemon tending the maze. Surveying the path first in one direction, then the other, he grimaces to himself, setting off along the RIGHT pathway. A palpable sense of amusement lingers as you realise the futility of common wisdom here in this maze of ever-shifting branches. Luck, it seems, will have to triumph over reason, here.
As you advance deeper into the maze, flowers of every hue blossom and unfurl around you, as if celebrating your passage deeper into the leafy foliage. Sunlight spills forth through the crevices of leaves and branches, at last revealing a Lilligant who stands before you.
The smiling Lilligant blinks in mild surprise as your Baltoy rushes off, reacting as quickly as she is able.
A gentle wind bearing dandelion spores draws you further into the maze, sticky with sweet pollen. It tickles your nose, leaving it no surprise when the bend turns to reveal a joyful Jumpluff standing before you.
The Jumpluff nods back, the gesture made with her whole body as she smiles at your brief greeting.
You sense that this far in the maze, there are less and less other individuals nearby; you have gotten far indeed, and it shows when you come upon the faintly surprised look on a regal, dignified Tsareena's face. From her slightly bored appearance, the Tsareena has been waiting here for some time for company.
Nothing in life is easy, indeed, although the Tsareena seems unperturbed by your predicament. If anything, she seems mildly curious.
A thrill of the unknown fills you as you sense you have almost found the heart of the hedge maze, leading you at last to a place where a pink mist blankets the terrain in a soothing, rosy fragrance. It suffuses a beautiful Florges like a blushing cloud.
The world seems to spread out before you a limitless expanse of greenery as the walls of your path fall away with each step, receding to reveal instead an elegantly appointed courtyard. A beautiful tree flourishes at its centre, where an old man sits in the shade, waiting for you patiently.
