That Samurott was strange alright, but what looked even stranger was the purple, dragon-like creature with cartoony eyes that poked its head out of the tall grass of Route 111. "I'm a human, please don't throw a Pokéball at me!" The bizarre creature cried out, revealing itself to actually be a human girl wearing a costume.

For the most part, Andrea didn't try to disturb the other trainer, who seemed to be there for reasons of his own. She too was scouting the area for any critters that looked interesting, so she just wanted to cover her bases and make sure the guy didn't mistake her for a Pokémon, even if it was her dream to become one.

"Sure am!" The dragon-costumed girl eagerly nodded, noticing a faint shadow moving underneath a large boulder. "Oooh, I might've found something already! Move that rock, Regina, but be careful!" She said, sending out her Tyrantrum, which grabbed the boulder with its powerful jaws and carefully moved it out of the way, revealing a Kabuto hiding underneath.

Andrea tilted her head curiously. "A Kabuto? What's it doing here? I thought they preferred cold and humid places." And this route was very much the opposite of that, being at the heart of what one would consider the 'land half' of Hoenn, as opposed to the 'sea half'. The poor crustacean looked quite distraught, and the massive T-Rex towering over it only made matters worse.

"Hey, don't worry, little buddy. We're not here to hurt you." Andrea tried to comfort the scared Kabuto, reaching her hand to pet it, only for the living fossil to shrink back. Remembering that some timid Pokémon could be won over with food, she offered a spare sushi roll that had been leftover from her lunch. "Want this? It tastes really good." Lured in by the scent of seafood, the little horseshoe crab drew closer, tentatively grabbing the sushi roll with its yellow claws and chewing on it with whatever mouth it had in its black void of a face.

The draconic cosplayer smiled brightly. "There we go! So, do you wanna be my friend? I promise to feed you well. And even if you don't wanna be my friend, I promise to bring you back to the sea at least. It sure beats being lost here, doesn't it?" She proposed, placing a Pokéball upon the ground. The Kabuto nodded its clunky head, seemingly allowing itself to be tamed willingly.

"Thanks! Right back at you!" Andrea replied to the brown-haired youth, noting how easily his Samurott had dispatched of that wild Archeops, allowing its trainer to catch it in a rather fancy-looking ball. "Wow, another rare Pokémon from the past! I'm a bit jealous." She jokingly added.

Speaking of rare critters, a wild Heatmor suddenly jumped out of the tall grass, trying to Incinerate the draconic cosplayer with its long, fiery tongue. "Eeek! Regina, use Rock Slide!" The young PokéManiac cried out. Rocks fell, but everyone thankfully didn't die. Having crushed its opponent, the Tyrantrum roared triumphantly. Sighing in relief, the girl threw a plain old Pokéball at the defeated Heatmor.

The young PokéManiac rubbed her chin in deep thought. "The distortion, huh... I was in a distortion too the other day, and I met a guy who had a Samurott just like yours. And he turned out to be a member of the Elite Four!" She casually exposited. "What's weird is that none of my Pokémon changed form while in the distortion."

While Andrea was chit-chatting with the stranger, Regina was fighting a wild Salandit in the background, easily disposing of the venomous lizard with another Rock Slide, before presenting its unconscious body to her trainer like a cat bringing a dead bird to its owner. "Oh... Good work, Regina. We've made another friend!" The girl said, containing Salandit in another Pokéball. Just how many balls had she stored inside that funny costume of hers?

The Pokéball containing Salandit shook violently. Before Andrea could react, the feisty little lizard broke free and promptly fled from the scene, its reptilian tail slithering along the ground. "Aww shoot! It looked like it could be caught." The dragon-hooded girl pouted dejectedly.

She didn't get much time to mope about it, though, as a wild Rolycoly soon appeared running on its singular wheel. Seeing that, the trainer of dragons nodded resolutely. "Alright, this time we won't fail! Regina, return. Go, Missy!" She exclaimed, switching out her Tyrantrum for her Kangaskhan.

The one-eyed, sentient coal creature spun around its wheel, spewing fire all over the place in an attempt to Incinerate its opponent. The oversized marsupial responded with a Mega Punch that, while not very effective, had enough of an impact to knock Rolycoly backwards. Then, she Sang a beautiful lullaby that put the Rock type to sleep. Even the baby Kangaskhan in her pouch fell asleep.

"If only some Pokémon change in the distortions, then we'll just have to catch a bunch of them to test this theory out... starting right now!" Andrea declared, hurling another Pokéball towards the sleeping Rolycoly and praying for the best.
