They meet at the base of the hill and walk towards the summit. The sky is bright blue and splotched in cloud-white, just a little before noon. Jayden could've asked Asriel Pryde to meet him anywhere — at his home, at the gym, at the base. But there was something nice about the outdoors, and after having spent a lot of time in Kanto's frigid winter, he was glad for the reprieve.

[break][break] Plus, it would give him some time to check on the small budding plant.

[break][break] "You sure you don't mind?" Jayden's not normally one to brace his words — but his childhood friend should know better. Jayden's not asking if he minds. 'Is there something important I should know about?' Somewhere urgent, perhaps Rocket-related, that the other should be other than a practice-sparring session.

The hill was covered with flowers. Some were still in their budding stage, but most had bloomed and are the vibrant colors of spring were in full effect. Many wild pokemon were out, enjoying the weather and new nourishment. The wind carried a fragrant smell, the smell of flowers.

For the most part, there was no conversation as they walked to their destination. Until Jayden spoke up.

Eyebrows furrow with the question, one that he had answered before. “I’ve told you, it’s fine, Jay.” His voice carries a very subtle tone of irritation, but Asriel nods again to display he didn’t mind in the least.

“Ready?”

the response he receives in return is simple, direct and to the point. he would have never expected anything less from the likes of Asriel Pryde.

[break][break] the fact that jayden doesn't flinch, nor comment, on the childhood nickname that should send shivers down his spine sends volumes of their friendship.

[break][break] "always." at the top of the hill, jayden takes position. his arms brace in front of him, violet eyes trained on the other as he waits for him to make his first move.

He admired Jayden.

His devotion and dedication were an irreplaceable asset. He knew Jayden for many years and always knew that he could count on him. There weren’t many rocket’s that he considered family, he was lucky to have found Jayden.

His position had improved but still Asriel manages to break it, when he had acknowledged that he was ready. Delivering a speedy punch straight to his chest.

asriel is fast.

[break][break] it's no surprise to jayden, who had sparred with his friend for years by this point. still, his body is still sluggish and not used to having to adapt to such a skilled partner. the punch is delivered straight to his ribs, and jayden winces before his arm snaps out immediately, elbowing the other to put some distance between them.

[break][break] his leg than swings outwards, an attempt to dropkick him.

It was a good blow, Jayden managed to elbow him straight in the nose. Asriel falters backwards his hand gripping around the bloodied area. He keeps his distance to try and regain his senses and does so momentarily. The next thing Jayden does is attempt a drop kick but Asriel reacts in time, blocking the attack by grabbing his leg putting it into a tight grip.

He then bends his leg with force and walks forward, trying to get him to trip.
