Even Dorian had a problem with how children were handled in Kanto. He did his best to keep those in his custody safe. Bringing them to an orphanage that he personally funded. Making sure they were well taken care of. But there was only so much the Mad Dog could do. Most Rockets of that era didn't share in his view, and thus many children being killed, or forcefully conscripted into Rocket.

Ironically, Eris Halla was one of his failures. He managed to rescue her from a mob of paranoid civilians who nearly killed her. He tried to give her a fresh start through his orphanage. But the trauma of the takeover caused her to become violent, too violent for the orphanage. So in the end, she wound up joining the Rocket machine.

At least she wasn't being lead by Silas.

As the smog subsided, Dorian would spot a sickly-looking Budew stumbling around. It clearly wasn't the poison causing this, as Budew were naturally toxic themselves. Somehow, it ended up in the cavern, and if left unattended, it was going to die. Something in Dorian compelled him to toss a Pokeball at the creature, and spare it such an ugly fate.

It falls victim to Dodrio's HIGH HORSEPOWER, though not after leaving a BURN with its FIERY FANGS. Gavin switches out to his Delphox, the shadows dancing in the light of her SHADOW FIRE.

"How do you feel about Hoenn's Rocket?" He chooses his words carefully; asking how Dorian felt about its leadership was dangerous, but a more general question seems fair enough. "Anything you'd change, if given the chance?"

"It's the new blood. I know we've attracted a more - idealistic crowd ever since the boss announced our return. And though they've mostly proven useful in our current operations, I'm afraid that down the line, they might be a problem.", he'd begin. "It's safe to say that many of them don't comprehend what they're truly getting themselves into, and that once things get uglier, many of them might not be able to stomach the reality of Team Rocket. What will have to be done in order to solidify control, once we've established it.", he'd continue.

Dorian would be interrupted by the sight of a Bulbasaur staggering through the hot cavern. "What are all these Grass-types doing in here!?", thought Dorian in disbelief, as he spotted the second one in a row. And like the Budew before it, something compelled the Mad Dog to toss a Pokeball at the dying creature, in order to save it from such a fate.

"I understand that we are no longer Silas' Rocket, but at the end of the day, Rocket will be engaged in some dark business. Pokemon trafficking, torture, making examples of deserters. Not to mention putting down resistance that will inevitably crop up. That is where I worry about the new blood.", he'd add onto his previous assessment.

Delphox doesn't need to lift her wand; a glance from the shadowed fox sends the Numel slinking down an adjacent tunnel, hoping to avoid a fight. Gavin doesn't give the order to pursue.

With dorian westcliff, he agrees. It's of his brother Gavin thinks. Rowan Wrynn didn't have the stomach for their violence.

"There is a place for idealists so long as they don't resent the work left to those of us with a stronger constitution." He takes no pride in his tolerance for blood and gore. It could catch him off guard at times, but it came with the territory and thus the underboss weathered it along with whatever nightmares it caused. "It's those who do that are the real problem. It's a delicate balancing act, this new Rocket of ours. We must be equally careful not to attract those who'd see a return to Silas' day."

Rocket's Mad Dog was once of Silas' staunch supporters, but Gavin doesn't flinch from his own ideals. He is an underboss, a leader; this Rocket will be what he helps mold.

When Dorian spoke of the more idealistic recruits without the stomach for violence, he worried about what would come of them after they've served their purpose. Would they just be used to fill out 'easy jobs' for the organization once it had control of the world? Or would they be disposed of after outliving their usefulness? Something in between that Dorian hadn't thought of? Though he doubted Gavin would dispose of them like that, there was no telling what Declan had in mind for them.

"Of course.", Dorian replied, acknowledging that he would be seen as one such person. "I know that my heyday was in Silas' era, but I assure you, my loyalty is not towards Silas, but towards Rocket as an organization. It was Rocket that took me in off the streets at my lowest point, not Silas.", he would begin to tell Gavin.

It was why he fought against Silas' Remnants with no hesitation.

"All that matters to me is seeing Rocket at its best, flourishing at the very top. And however Rocket chooses to operate, I will gladly adapt to it.", he'd add.

Dorian would spot a Venomoth weakly crawling through the cave, lacking the strength to take flight. Something felt very wrong, as normally such Pokemon avoided this cave like a plague. In any case, Dorian tossed a Pokeball at the dying Venomoth, attempting to save it from heat death.

Gavin's attention is drawn away from the hellhound as Dorian speaks, a certain sort of respect kindling deep in the amber of his eyes as the former Beast clarifies his stance in the organization.

"Then we share the same goals." The sharpness previously present in his tone hardens into something more akin to determination. "I will do whatever it takes to see Rocket thrive, but I have no wish to reduce Hoenn to ash and rubble for that purpose."

He'd seen enough fires in Kanto for a lifetime.
