It didn't take long for Barnaby to stumble upon his first Pokémon. It was a lucky find, even, as it was one he'd been wanting for a long time: CUBCHOO. The little thing Growled a warning for Barnaby to stay back and keep his distance, but it was hardly very intimidating. It's gigantic droplet of snot quivered violently as it did so, betraying the CUBCHOO's distress. Fear was a weakness that it was trying it's best to hide, especially after witness Barnaby's next move.

From his coat he retrieved the capsule containing René, his knightly SCIZOR. The bug made his entrance in a flash of light and immediately looked to his master for instruction. The CUBCHOO, un the meantime, shrunk back against the ice-covered walls of the cavern.

"Prepare yourself against this mighty beast," Barnaby began, his voice dripping in sarcasm as he gestured to the frightened cub. "Iron Defense. Then, Bullet Punch." It was overkill and he knew it; still, there was nothing inherently wrong with being abundantly cautious. Plus, they needed to end things quickly in case the bear's mother came along...

In the end, it wasn't much of a fight. The CUBCHOO managed to weaken René with it's Frost Breath when the SCIZOR had gotten close, but moments later a few successive punches had it lying unconscious on the stone floor. A thrown Luxury Ball sealed the deal.
