a call had come in to headquarters late at night. a man, who identified himself only as a sailor, had called a tip in about an illegal smuggling operation just on the outskirts of slateport. a response team was being pulled together to handle this, when, the anonymous gentleman confirmed a dangerous fact: a high-ranking rocket operative was on-site.

that was when greyson was brought in.

he wasn't a powerhouse in the same way MATIAS SILPH or Katherine Fairburne were, but rather someone who could be trusted to handle the situation delicately. after his run in with Cillian Quinn, greyson had spent many hours preparing for the inevitable day he they would meet again. silently, he hopes the rocket operative in question was Cillian Quinn.

with no restrictions of his own, greyson TELEPORTS on-site. he remembered this place intimately; his patrol with Melody Miro coming fresh to his mind. seven, his alakazam, spread his awareness out instantly — a practiced maneuver of theirs — and his psyche brushed against something... foul. it was the only way to describe the sensation; as if he'd dipped his toe into black sludge.

they TELEPORT again and greyson looks around, finding himself just between a row of warehouses. above him the sky was pitch black and a cold breeze swept in from the nearby waters. but something else catches his attention. a figure, dressed in black — out of place. he thumbs the comfey from around his wrist with one hand, soothing his anxiety, while the other grasps a pokeball from beneath his coat. he wouldn't be caught off guard. not again.

when he speaks next, his voice projects confidence, and a small undertone of... anger?

"halt. state your business for wandering these warehouses this late at night."

a burst of psychic energy from the alakazam on his right alerts him to the hiding figures. greyson narrows his eyes, knowing full well what would happen next.

prepared, the fire-typs summons a MYSTICAL FIRE into a ring around the retreating woman, aiming to trap her.

the smirk on his fox's lips tell him that it was an opinion only he shared. her CALM MIND keeps those thoughts under control, for now.

the ring of fire intensifies, but in a way that doesn't leave his vision obscured. from the cracks in the cement at the inner-most edges of the ring, TOXIC liquid seeps up and over, the intention to form a small little moat.
